"For the first time in their long campaign slog, independent polls are showing the so-called movement candidate, tea party favorite Ted Cruz, leading the GOP establishment favorite, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
They are trying to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison in the U.S. Senate and face off once again in the July 31 runoff election.
If less than a million people vote and Cruz wins, hes likely to have coattails, said Mustafa Tameez, a Houston political consultant. Hell pull in a lot of the movement candidates.
Cruz has insisted all along that his supporters have the enthusiasm, and a new survey suggests that he may be right. The survey, by Wenzel Strategies, shows Cruz leading Dewhurst 47 percent to 38 percent with two weeks to go. Dewhurst won the first round of voting by 10 points but did not get the 50 percent required to avoid a runoff..."

At any rate...this is FANTASTIC news. All Texas Freepers need to put the pedal to the metal for the next 2 weeks to get another constitutional conservative in the Senate! Dewhurst is Richard Lugar with a Texas accent!
Somewhere Karl Rove is weeping.
Hank
Go Cruz!
Another freeper from Texas said that Dewhurst, though he is the establishment’s choice (thanks mainly to his long-time connections to Perry and the legislature), is a conservative and wouldn’t make a bad senator at all. But you compared him to Lugar (ie., horrible) and I’m wondering how two Texas freepers can have such divergent opinions?
I’m just trying to learn here... I don’t know jack about either of these two guys.
FRegards,
LH
In two weeks I dot in Cruz
IM not hating Dewhirst but Cruz promises to be a reglar guy and fight in the senate for reglar guys
We could do with invading captol hill with guys like Louie Gohmert
It’s a matter of degrees
Its all about Ted promising not to be a career politition and to project the local power on capitol hill to the best of his ability and stop capitol hill from projecting power on us at the local level
Kay, Perry, and Dewhurst are all decent people
Dewhurst has been a major ally of our uber RINO House Speaker Joe Strauss. Strauss owes his speakership to Dems and was originally elected with just a handful of GOP votes and big Dem support. He has since consistently packed committee chairmanships with lefties. He opposed voter ID laws until the last election booted enough RINOs out that we finally got it passed,
Dewhurst and his buddy Strauss are CLASSIC cases guys who talk conservative but when push comes to shove do everything they can to block a conservative agenda.
On top of which his campaign has been appallingly dishonest. He borrowed a page from his buddy Myth, actually shamelessly attacking a true conservative from the right after spending a lifetime opposing conservatism.
He’s truly vile. Want to learn more? Just google Joe Strauss RINO and know that Dewhurst is tied at the hip to the guy.
Hank
Gohmert is my congressman,
I’m quite fortunate in that for almost almost all of my adult life I have been represented in the House by Phil Crane (IL) and Gohmert: two genuine giants of conservatism.
Hank
Thanks!
Go, Ted!
Because there are at least two DewCrist pimps putting out false information about Cruz and misrepresenting DewCrist as a Conservative, for which he is anything but. He and House Speaker Joe Straus, a leftist big gubmint RINO, has worked hand in hand with DewCrist to stymie Conservative initiatives despite the GOP having 2/3rds of the legislature.
You put it better than I. Dumping Straus as Speaker ought to be of paramount importance.
Louie Rocks
Sadly I am stuck with Ralph Hall, a career politician
I voted for Lou Gigliotti
???
I think the meaning is “vote for.”
This is great news for the nomination, but how does Cruz stack up vs. prospective dem opponents?
The two Democrats running are nobodies. Democrats don’t win statewide in TX at the current time. The seat Cruz is running for hasn’t elected a Democrat since 1988, and that was Lloyd Bentsen, an 18-year incumbent.
Dewhurst’s relentless negative campaigning can’t be helping him any. When the “Chinese lawyer” ads started back up, I didn’t know whether to laugh or shake my head.

LOL.... This is Texas Scott. We don’t elect Democrats down here Bro. Well, maybe except for Constable and a couple of County Commissioners.
