Today, lets look at the polls all of them. To start with, health care: Just 6 percent of Americans think health care is the most pressing issue, according to the latest Gallup poll. Why? Because lots of those Americans dont have jobs or are underemployed the real jobless rate nationwide is more like 14.9 percent, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
So savoring his big win on health care is most definitely a waste of time for President Obama, and he knows it. After less than a week of spiking the football (a relatively short time for Americas most narcissistic president ever), the president is back on the campaign trail. Whats striking is where hes going: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa places he won in 2008.
Why? Simple. All the latest polls show hes losing well, everyone. Hes down 13 points with voters ages 18 to 25, nearly half of whom think hes done a mediocre job, according to Students for Life of America. The healthy young dont really care about health care, but they do care about jobs and nearly 2 million 20- to 24-year-olds are unemployed.
With skyrocketing student debt and grim unemployment prospects for those out of college, young voters collective love affair with the president has abated, SFLA Executive Director Kristan Hawkins said.
The rate is far worse if youre young and black. For blacks ages 16 to 19, the unemployment rate is now 39.3 percent, up from 36.5 percent last month...

While the lack of enthusiasm for Mr. Obama does not translate into enthusiasm for Mr. Romney, the GOP candidate has a clear path to victory: Nibble away at the margins the president won in 2008 across all demographics. Pick up 4 percent here, 9 percent there
until victory.

So why is he still more or less dead even with Romney? Answer: Romney!
Mitt Romney, the younger Dole/McLame Emulator. Somebody check his pulse!

When is Romney going to start campaigning? Ever?
McCain stopped campaigning as soon as he eliminated all other Republican nominees. He then announced that we didn’t have to be afraid of a President Obama, after which he suspended his campaign to “deal with the economic crisis.” He never un-suspended his campaign.
Is this going to be Romney’s work schedule too? So far, we’ve gotten through the “eliminate all other Republican nominees” phase of the plan.

How about Larry? Or Curly?
Cripes, I’d even consider Shemp.
Drip! Drip! Drip! The dam is about to burst.
No, the real answer is: July!
Reagan was nowhere near Carter - today on this forum we'd be wringing our hands that he was hopelessly behind - at this time in 1980.
Americans passionately hate politics more than they hate anything in our society. They won't pay attention to it until mid-October...mostly to save their sanity.
Mitt’s tricky and I do believe he wants to win. I mean he REALLY wants to win, so although I do not know what’s going through his mind right now, I am not quite at the panic stage yet.
My gut feeling is that he’s content at this stage to let Obama try (and fail) to defend his health care fiasco and his record of the last four years. His feeling, and he might be right, is that Obama simply has nothing to campaign on and letting him flail around trying does just as much (if not more) damage than anything Mitt could do.
Mitt has a lot of powerful attack options, but he needs to be careful about using them because they have shock value, and he would probably want to keep them in reserve for later on in the race.
I could be wrong, but that’s honestly the way I see it right now.
Shemp would be over qualified compared to the choice shoved up our backsides.

“No, the real answer is: July!”
Probably at least partially true, but Reagan was acting like a candidate and he didn’t have the GWB pox that still pervades the electorate. Romney just seems to be “lying low” and hoping that he gets elected. Maybe he watched the Eddie Murphy movie “The Distinguished Gentleman.” The Congressional approval is in the teens, so the people evidently don’t like the gridlock and they will blame the R’s preferentially. I just wished Romney looked and acted like a candidate.
This might interest some of you...
Obama has some big TV buys here in King County (Seattle), Washington.
Strange - since he beat McCain 70%-28% in Seattle in 2008.
I don't watch a lot of channels, but Obama is running constant ads on CNBC, primarily in the after market hours, for programs like “American Greed,” which focus on people who have swindled lots of money.
Then, last night, he had several ads on Spike TV for the film “Casino.”
It's hard to understand who his target audience is.
I haven't seen any polls that suggest he's in danger of losing Washington.

It is to make you just nuts.
Mitt Romney goes after the Republican NOMINATION for the candidacy to be President, with almost savage determination, but he has either much less enthusiasm for actually BEING President, or he is still not ready for prime time.
The great nagging doubt, that Mitt would not actually go “all in” for the marathon that is the general Presidential campaign, now seems to grip at the edge of consciousness for many of us.
Give us something, Mitt. We NEED red meat, and our craving cannot be denied much longer. Obama is vulnerable, he lacks many of the life skills to successfully stand on his own, and he as an identifiable legislative/executive record.
Melanin should NOT be a protective armor against criticism, and the moment ANYBODY shouts “Racist!” in response to that criticism, is the moment to turn to the heckler and ask how THEY would solve the problem, which clearly was the basis for the criticism.
NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE IN PRODUCTIVE JOBS! Make-work, in industries that have been given Federal loan guaranties so they may keep their doors open, but have no viable business model to become self-supporting; extended benefits programs for those out of work; excessive regulations on small businesses and start-up enterprises which prevent their further expansion or even lead to collapse; imposing of new taxes that are much more coercive than persuasive; and general disregard for lawful execution of duties under existing statutes.
These are just a few of the weaknesses in the record of the titular head of the current regime, which cannot honestly be called an “administration”, because they fail at so many of the responsibilities of the position.
Good post. Most people are focused on vacations and outdoor activities. Summer is relatively short. Barring some type of economic calamity, politics is not the first thing on their minds right now.
You're exactly right! Mitt doesn't have to win this election. He just has to make sure voters FIRE Obama. Obama does this fine all by himself. Why should Mitt beat a dead donkey?
I'll bet the real polls are Mitt is trouncing Obama's sorry ass right now!
So why is he still more or less dead even with Romney? Answer: Romney!
True, but Reagan was down by over 12 points to Jimmy Catah in September of 1980. We all know how that turned out.

Reagan was slightly ahead of Carter by the end of July and significantly behind him in August (take a look at the link). Then it seemed like a horse race. If Gallup puts Romney ahead by late August, then we can assume he’ll win. If it’s close, it will be close. But yeah, I agree...no one’s really thinking about politics (other than crazy freepers...haha...me included).
I don’t like Romney all that much, but I think I’ll vote for him...just because Obama isn’t just another democrat...he’s horribly bad.
