As a past school bus driver, it is quite obvious that you haven’t got a clue. If you ask a child to stop using bad language on a school bus and they laugh in your face and say, “shut the f*&% up, bitch!” And the school wont punish them for the bad language or for the disrespect, then what can you do? You can quit, which I did, or take it, which this poor woman did...
Leftists have worked hard for 40 years to remove all moral constraints from children. And this is what their success looks like...
You do make a good point sarasmom. She is the adult and the monitor in charge of all things...discipline.
Indicates she is not inexperienced at all. She was a driver for some 20 years as well.
The only thing I can think is that the “rules for monitors” are so strict, that it leaves the driver & bus monitors with no form of recourse. Years ago you’d get booted off the bus on the spot to walk home. You can’t do that, touch them or even ‘yell’ at them. In this case I don’t know what else she could do, but ignore them. It is my understanding their buses have video and audio recording equipment ...so we have the student video...why no district video. Was the equipment not working? Plus, often discipline type monitor reports are made back at the station with discipline handed out later, not by the monitors. Note, you can’t write the students names inthe reports!
And checking through the blogspot for them...this district has had major issues for years: http://greeceschool2006.blogspot.com/
It’s not a matter of judging them, but of expecting more from them. Kids who grow up in comfort and with everybody doing everything for their happiness should be kinder than ones who grow up having to fight for everything they get.
But they’re not, because their parents don’t teach them anything. And the parents probably aren’t very nice either.
I believe that, years ago, attacking a healthcare worker was made a felony. Perhaps such a remedy would be fitting. Then again, one has to consider teacher misbehavior. A knotty problem.
Damn. Touched a nerve there?
The EVIL public school and EVIL working mother mantra gets old...
Most of these stay at home, home schooling mothers see female OB’s and gynecologists and take their children to female pediatricians of which most are said EVIL working mothers.
Pubescent boys can tend toward remarkably nasty levels of cruelty.
What has traditionally kept the little punks in line is the threat of virile MEN in positions of responsibility who had the authority to kick their asses, both literally and figuratively. Everyone knew and acdepted this.
The combination of scum lawyers, the destructive feminization of our culture, and the ascent of faggotry and nonjudgmental political correctness, has removed this essential masculine element from our society.
We are now reaping the whirlwind of that disastrous wrong turn.
It used to be that at least they were watching the SAME programming - and as bad as that is - they may have some things to discuss about the show after. Nowadays they have their own TV - so they don't even watch the same programming.
Meanwhile this paradigm has the parent(s) hyper defensive about their (lack of) parenting - such that any attempt at correction is a fundamental attack on their life choices.
“Your son acts up in class.”
“HOW DARE YOU SAY I AM A BAD PARENT!!!!”.
About 30 years ago I was a school bus driver. I got my first route when one of the other drivers quit. This was at the best "Christian" school in the area. The parents paid big bucks to have their kids go. The reason the other driver quit is that these "Good Christian" kids decided to burn a copy of the Bible on the bus. That is right. They started a fire and burnt a copy of the Bible.
The very first day I had the route one of these little angels threw a can of Pepsi out the window and hit a police cruiser right on the hood.
The officer pulled me over and read the little B@$T@RD$ the riot act.
Now I am sure that "One note Janey" wants to blame this on godless public education, but none of these kids had ever gone to public school, and they sure were taught about God at that school.
This is the fault of the parents and the little B@$T@RD$ they raised, as are most of the ills of society today.
No way. These are lower middle class kids. Public schooled, mommy and daddy probably aren’t together, parent works, spends $ on cigarettes, hangs out with much older cousin or sibling or young uncle. Has little to no responsibility; probably uses profanities with and around parents.
Typical lower income bully, raised by one permissive parent. Puts down others to make self feel good, and probably lights cat’s tails on fire for fun.
Most of these stay at home, home schooling mothers see female OBs and gynecologists and take their children to female pediatricians of which most are said EVIL working mothers.
You left out the most evil of all, the evil female Dentist that would put their kids back into public school when it was convenient for them
And ‘corporal punishment’ is considered evil...
These evil little bastards need a good lesson, and the idiots they must have for parents too...
Except that these people feel no shame. I've seen welfare types whoa re proud of their kids rebelliousness.
It seems to be part of that entitlement mentality and lack of respect for anything. They scam the system and brag about it.
Funny, nearly all of the scoundrels’ Facebook accounts, etc. have been taken down.
...Americans are doing voluntarily what the Khmer Rouge had to do at gunpoint: take children from their parents to be raised by the organization.
****
Very apt comparison. Sad, isn’t it?
....the kids seemed to have an abusive attitude towards this lady not just for personal reasons, but because they regarded her as hired help whom they had some right to abuse.
&&&
Perhaps. But I think that poor behavior goes on in far too many homes because children are often just not taught anymore about showing respect for adults and authority figures. There is very little “yes, sir” or “no, ma’am” heard these days. Children brush right past adults. I have had fairly big kids bump into me in stores without even batting an eye as they are making their way to whatever it is they want to get.
When a child does hold a door for me or step back to let this lady pass, I make it a point to praise their manners. It makes it even better if I can see a parent nearby so that I can compliment mom or dad on the child’s good form.
I taught my Gen-X boys to hold the door for me as soon as they were big enough to do so. They are, as adults, very polite and gentlemanly, and, before they were married, I often heard nice comments about them from their female friends and girlfriends.
Yes, they pick them up from after-care and have the video playing in the car.
Good points all.
God forbid they might have a second of silence in which they might be forced to (gasp!) TALK to one another!
