Our daughter graduated with a BS in Biology this morning from the University of California at Santa Cruz. I did not see a single "Obama 2012" bumper sticker today -- not one!
We drove about 40 miles from home to the campus and saw many hundreds or thousands of cars on Highways 85, 17, and 1; the local Santa Cruz streets; throughout campus; in the campus parking structure; and in the parking lots on campus. We walked quite a distance on campus and didn't spot a single Obama sign on any buildings, bus shelters, housing units, dorms, or student bulletin boards. It was stunning.
Not only that, we saw only one crusty and faded Obama 2008 bumper sticker as well -- they've all been scraped off.
There's probably no hope of capturing California, but this sure is an encouraging sign. Huzzah!

Yes, I see Obamao 2012 bumper stickers here in LA, BUT not nearly what we saw last time. Many weird, guilt-ridden, white hippies/limousine liberals.

Haven’t noticed any “Obama 2012” around here but I did see an “Annoy a Liberal” bumper sticker the other day. Got a chuckle out of that one.
If he’s not getting support in Santa Cruz, I guess we’ll soon see a new executive order banning enforcement of marijuana laws and another forgiving student loan debt, and another .....
We live out in the country, but the closest city is Greensboto, NC home to 8 or 9 universities and colleges. Also home to a large and active contingent of conservatives. In 2008 the Obama stickers were everywhere. I’ve only seen one 2012 sticker - a Prius with a UNCG sticker. Interesting that the students aren’t flaunting the stickers this year. I have seen dozens of Romney stickers and hundreds of signs. Even here in the country, young (college age) people were knocking on our door for Republican candidates before the primaries.
Amazing what shows at Costco and in it’s neighborhood.
Congrats to your daughter on obtaining a useful degree. I hope most of the Banana Slugs have wised up.
I still remember my time around Santa Cruz and the absurd paradox of seeing avowed communist Angela Davis tooling along Hwy 1 in her BMW SUV on he way to he gated community where she could sit back and enjoy the spoils of her $150K a year tenure.
Thank you. She excelled in biology and we’re very proud of her for earning a tough science degree. Her true passion is horses and that’s where she’s going to pursue her career. She’s a trainer in Woodside and Atherton.
I travel 2 hrs to work a day and when I see a fraudulent sticker I find myself speeding up to see who is driving. Out of all Ive seen so far the people driving have been hippie type, peace and love throw back white folk. The race makeup at work in a work force of thousands 95 percent are black and not one zero bumper sticker. Do not let this fool you, color comes before all else.
Actually, you can kinda understand Nike being pro-gay. After all, they sell shoes to sodomites who may soon have to do a lot of running.
Just sayin’...
I live in the Bronx Ny and barely see any.
Lefties are all for "redistribution of wealth".
Right up to the point where they realize that somebody wants to redistribute THEIR wealth.
You took a real chance sending her to Santa Cruz. It's a beautiful place, but it is full of left wing nuts, that's for sure. Our son's graduate housing was right in the middle of the redwood forest. He had to walk across the wooden bridge, past the deer to get to his classes. Fortunately, our son was already well-grounded before he got there for graduate school. I just about barfed, though, when I had to look at Angela Davis up on the podium giving out degrees.
We had heard about the UCs taking 5 years. It factored into the decision.
We found out today that my son got a small scholarship from the San Diego A&M Club.
It’s not much, but it is making it still closer financially to the UCs.
This Arizonan would have bought you a beer.
Funny thing - ever since I signed up for data entry on those petition names, I feel I have a dog in Wisconsin's fight - moreso than just as a U.S. citizen. Wisconsin newspapers are now on my email list - even the out-and-out liberals (just so I can post rebuttals).
Fingers crossed that what happened in Wisconsin is the wave of the future.
Thank you for your help. I spent hours entering names in that data base. (I had fallen on the ice at the beginning of the review period and couldn’t move around very well anyway.)
