Okay, maybe that wasn’t the best metaphor, but he fumbled an important opportunity. The problem with the president’s amnesty decree is not that it “makes it more difficult to reach that long-term solution because an executive order is, of course, just a short-term matter — it can be reversed by subsequent presidents.” The problem is that it’s u-n-c-o-n-s-t-i-t-u-t-i-o-n-a-l. You would expect Allen West and Steve King to be forceful in denouncing this usurpation, but even Amnesty John McCain and Rick “you don’t have a heart” Perry were strong. Heck, Lindsey Graham — Lindsey Graham — denounced the move as “possibly illegal.” And the fact that Romney didn’t answer when asked if he’d reverse the order is an especially bad sign.
I know all those who’ve been accusing me of being in the tank for Romney will say “I told you so,” but my distress isn’t really about his views on the policy issue at hand — he seemed to endorse Rubio’s as-yet-not-introduced revision of the DREAM Act, which I’m pretty sure I won’t like. I’m appalled because this is a fundamental matter of our political order

I don’t quite get the “trap” point. Bark simply beat Myth to the finish line. (The two agree on everything but fiscal policy anyway, it seems to me.)
The reason Myth is silent is because this is chess and Bark made the same move Myth would have, but Bark pulled the trigger first. Rubio’s Hispanic hustle of yesterday, which made news, is proof of that. In concert with Romney, Rubio was enlisted to lay the ground work to do the same thing in delegate rich Florida.
Myther is either stuck with figuring out how to cuss what he was going to do himself, or too stupid to immediately recognize the constitutional crisis this move by Obama created.
That is exactly what I thought! In the case of Romney, there is barely any other excuse for looking like a door stop, after a clear eyed and obvious hit to the Constitution.
Vote for Virgil Goode, instead! Just do it! Vote for an actual conservative with an actual conservative voting record and much more political experience than Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, and Gary Johnson, combined!
One more reason why TRUE conservatives have to be calling LOUDLY for a revolt at the GOP convention. We have to let the delegates know we are behind them if they decide to grow a pair and dump this socialist clown for a constitutionalist. We need a better nominee. Mitt IS NOT it!

Of course Romney and a good number of Republicans want amnesty, but they have so far had enough political sense (maybe even integrity), not to do so by imperial edict. If Romney wasn’t a centrist milquetoast, he could ignore the amnesty part, which he probably adores, and counterattack on the rule of law aspects.
Do we have a constitutional republic or a monarchy? Even Chavez plays the democracy game. He’s stacked the deck in Venezuela so that the courts and congress rubber stamp (for the most part) his edicts. Well, President Obama isn’t even bothering with the pretense of a democratically approved solution.
THAT is what Romney should be attacking on, even though he adores amnesty, but Romney is what he is. He will always disappoint, because he’s not one of us and never will be.
Romney only cares about being elected he has no, conservative agenda for America, no core beliefs.
This election will come down to ideology. There is a unabashed hard core liberal running against a liberal Trojan horse pretending to be a conservative who is without any core conviction or belief.
I wont vote for either but I suspect the majority of Americans will vote for the guy who is not afraid to put his core beliefs on the line..
Not hard at all. However, the political mechanism is not that simple. I wish it were. Let's see. This is a huge opportunity for Rommney to shine - if he doesn't in the next day or so, all is lost. Personally, I fear he will play this badly.
I agree, he should make a huge point of Obambi selectively enforcing law. This is quicksand - and could be the deciding issue even above the economy. I believe the election will be won in the next week depending on how Rommney deals with this chess move.
Even more confusing to me is the fact that in the oath of office, the President of the United States swears to uphold the laws and Constitution of The United States of America. It does not say uphold the laws of the United States of America that he likes. It does not say he can ignore the laws of the United States of America that his does not like!
I think Obama is trying to provoke a Constitutional Crises and racial division and probable great violence in our great nation. If the next election is run by normal standards Mr. Obama will be defeated in an epic landslide.
Mr. Obama is desperate and will use desperate means to try and retain his quasi Fascist power.
Prior to Mr. Obama, George McGovern was the most left wing candidate that the Democrat party had every run. Mr. McGovern was a decorated B24 pilot in World War II. Although I disagreed with George McGovern's political philosophy, never for even one instant did I ever doubt his love for our nation and honor. THIS CAN NOT BE SAID FOR BARRACK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

On one hand it appears that Obama made up this order which mandates what he tried and failed to get passed into law, On the other hand there are enough loopholes in the law to allow him to do this. GWB didn't enforce that law, he just didn't say it on camera.
His order was limited enough to keep it from being an effective weapon by Republicans against him in the election, while scoring him points with Hispanics to get them out to vote. The folks affected appear to be victims.
Republicans don't know what they are doing. My angle would be the high unemployment rate and the fact that Obama is issuing these work visas.
I think you are right. Given his past history, he may not say anything...but send attack dogs to do it. That seems to be what happened today.

Romney was not my pick either. But he is smart to not fall into Obama’s trap and immediately allow Obama’s gang to accuse him of being a kneejerk racist, Mexican-hater whose own father comes from Mexico.
This is already unfolding badly for Obama as the story is about Obama’s desperate move to foment civil unrest by illegal usurpation of congressional authority to influence the election. Everybody can see this for what it is. Obama has put a lot of democrat congressmen and senators at risk with this move. Let them answer for this and not allow the press to change the subject to Romney’s immediate, ‘anti-hispanic’ rant.
Ginsburg has tipped the hand that Obamacare has been highly contentious in the SC. This means that it is going down, 5 - 4. Take that and Obama’s lawless abuse of power and let his democrat minions in congress go out and defend him, and by association, his disastrous lack of leadership on the economy and everything else. Of course Romney will say what we expect him to say, but why allow the focus to be anywhere but where it should be right now - the out of control, disaster of a president we have.
I want Obama out and I want Pelosi and Reid and the insufferable democrats out front, defending this disaster. Just seeing Schumer and Wasserman Schultz out there pimping for Obama’s sorry ass is worth the backlash it will bring. This move today and next week’s Supreme Court decision belongs to the democrats - let them get out front and repeat their great success from the 2010 mid-terms. Romney will get his chance.
Executive orders are just that an order signed by the executive. O has not or will he sign an order..
They have framed this as administrative discretion..eg how to enforce the laws most effectively.
Folks can scream all they want but this will stand at least until after November..

Reagan (or any other patriotic conservative) would have given the correct response without even thinking. That's called having core conservative principles. Romney has neither.
There is no hurry for Willard to dash headlong into Mister Obama's trap. I would hope that he gives the matter full consideration and waits until Monday morning before making a comment.
Willard will, I believe, realize that few undecideds will be moved into Obama's camp; and that this is (apparently) a way to energize the illegal vote.
And, where are the union fungi on this? Don't they allegedly disagree with amnesty for illegals?
