“Asked whether they would press charges against the father, the sheriff responded, “You have a right to defend your daughter. He acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him.”

1. The grandfather has broken english, meaning the victim is of a minority group, most likely hispanic/Mexican.
2. The grandfather says the father is remorseful that the perp died because he did not mean to kill him.

In some places the DA could decide it and not even send it to the GJ but often they do almost as a pro forma thing. I would be very surprised if the GJ bills it.

Justifiable homicide. Defense of others is a legally legitimate ground for killing someone, especially an intruder. There is no vigilantism here.

I’m just wondering how long for the Grand Jury to “No Bill” the case. It might set a record.

After I had control of him, I probably would have made it a very slow, painful and horrifying death.

Ayup.

PS: If it were my daughter of granddaughter who was being attacked, I wouldn’t be thinking about “vigilantism”. I’d be thinking how can I kill this bastard ASAP.

Exactly. Which would you rather tell your little girl?

"I know that bad man hurt you honey, but he will never hurt anyone again."

Or...

"Maybe he won't come up for parole for at least twenty years."

One way the child gets closure, and can start getting on with picking up the pieces and living, the other way, every shadow will hold a boogeyman.

“She told him to stop, and he didn’t, so she shot him.
She said, “If I had to do it over again, I’d shoot that bastard again....................
She was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The rapist didn’t stop! This means that if the mother didn’t shoot the rapist, he would have gone on raping her daughter. So why should she be sorry she did it? That judge must either be stupid or depraved.

God I love Texas! I was in San Antonio earlier this year for my son’s Air Force graduation!!!

Here in NY, the father would be immediately jailed and have to pay restitution to the perv’s family. Of course there aren’t that many fathers in NY as CPS and the gov’t/divorce courts have basically banned fathers and protective/disciplinarian father-like activity.

The deceased’s family is probably from outside the country according to authorities.

I believe we have a legal defense here in the Great State of Texas....based on the theory the “he deserved killin!”

Nope.

Its "He needed killin'."

Not vigilantism... it was a father protecting his child.

Hopefully, that baby girl is young enough to be able to forget this incident over time, and with no lasting psychological damage.

At any rate, she’ll never have to worry about a repeat performance or another visit from this creep.

Dad’s performance as a parent is commendable; his performance as a Man, even more so. Harsh words and yelling “Stop! Or I’ll Yell Stop Again!” doesn’t cut it.

Save the child, worry about everything else later.

Good on ‘im.

However, holding grudges and continuing to hate the person after the act is being unforgiving,

FWIW....there is NO after the fact here. Both the girl, and her father have been severely traumatized, and will live with this the rest of their lives. The one thing for absolute sure here is that girl will at least have the peace of mind that the monster who assaulted her can never do it again.

While I agree that holding a grudge and hatred for life for the perp might not be healthy, in no way should anyone be sorry that he is dead. He was a manifestation of evil, caught in the middle of an absolutely evil act, and needed and deserved to be dispatched. It is up to the real victims of this event to determine forgiveness, no one else. And NO ONE has the right to judge them either way, excepting our ultimate judge, of course.

BTW...good luck finding a jury to convict. Unless forces from outside the community come in and force a change of venue, the father walks, as he should.

you and me both. I applaud this man and would like to shake his hand. The molester got better than he deserved. If anyone did that to my kid, I’d break all his bones and cut off most of his family jewels and let him live for a while to think of what he did. The father mentioned was more merciful — he killed the creep.

i am not a father of a little girl, but i believe the feeling would be not that the daughter is fatherless, but he is a man that would give up everything for the safety of his little girl.

good on this dad... he should have shoveled and shutup, but a jury will not convict.

perhaps a disturbing the peace.

Lavaca County authorities on Friday identified the 47-year-old man who was caught molesting a girl and then beaten to death by the child’s father.

Jesus Mora Flores was killed on the afternoon of June 9 on a rural farm pasture on County Road 302 between Shiner and Yoakum.

In a press release issued Friday, authorities said Flores was attempting to sexually assault the girl, whose age was corrected by officials Friday to be 5 years old.

“When emergency medical personnel arrived, Jesus Mora Flores’ pants and underwear were down and the man’s genitals were exposed,” said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon, who was quoted in a press released issued by District Attorney Heather McMinn.

Flores had been hired by the child’s father to care for horses on the property, according to a neighbor.

A public records search shows no permanent address for Flores in Lavaca County.

The press release also confirms that law enforcement officials discovered a witness to the attacks, but does not identify that person.

Investigators found that “a witness observed Jesus Mora Flores forcibly carrying a 5-year-old child off to a secluded area, the witness ran for help and alerted the child’s father.”

The father then heard the child’s scream and ran to help her, the release said. The father then “immediately removed Jesus Mora Flores from on top of his child” and inflicted “several blows” to the man’s head and neck area.

The release stated that all of the physical evidence and witness statements in the case corroborated the father’s statement.

Harmon said Flores was not in the United States illegally and possessed a permanent resident card - more widely known as a green card.

The sheriff said his office has been working with Mexican Consulate officials to locate Flores’ family.

Complete results of the autopsy conducted in Travis County are not expected for several weeks.

Harmon said the girl’s family and father have cooperated with authorities.

McMinn said in the press release that Harmon “made the right decision in not arresting the father at the time of the incident.”

The girl’s father remains remorseful about Flores’ death, said Harmon, who said he expects a grand jury to hear the case next week.

“This case has been very traumatizing on the child, her father and his entire family,” he said.
