In an interview with Charlie Rose on "CBS This Morning," former Florida governor Jeb Bush revealed that his father, George H.W. Bush can no longer walk unassisted.
Jeb Bush said his father, 87, is still good mentally, but "he can't walk... He has to, you know, he's help by a stroller... That's hard for a guy that's been so vital and vigorous in life."

Indeed, there are few senior citizens as vital as George H. W. Bush. For many years, on his birthday, the 41st president made it his habit to skydive from an airplane. He did it for his 75th and 80th birthdays, as well as number 85 back in 2009.
In 2009, after landing, he joked, ""It's a great, exhilarating feeling... I don't feel a day over 84."
In the interview, Jeb Bush commented on his brother's legacy as president. "There's a fine line between stubbornness and the positive side of that, which is dogged determination. And I think what people will begin to see is that he wasn't stubborn. He was totally determined and principled about it. And the country was safer

In the pictures of the portrait unveiling, George H. W. Bush was in a wheelchair. It wasn’t very noticeable and I haven’t read anything about it, but he was in the chair. I wondered and, so, this news isn’t surprising.
Amen to that. Bush 41 may not measure up to the idological purity standards of some here, but he’s a patriot and a Great American in my opinion.
And speaking of opinions, the Clint Eastwood line came to mine as I read that snark about Bush 43’s popularity rating. One thing I always admired about W is the fact that he didn’t give a tin sh1t about what the polls said. And neither do I.
But Bush 41 was probably the biggest badass ever to hold the title of CIC. I’m still scratching my head over how the left managed to make the “wimp” thing stick until he was out of office.
In the older days saying someone was RED meant you thought they were communists, do mean like RED / BLUE state thing in reference to RED?
I think he was a combo of strong president and a very sincere sentimental man.
He managed the breakup of the USSR (not Reagan) and insisted on all of Germany in NATO, when everyone was saying we’d have to compromise. He also supported Yeltsin against the hardliners’ coup.

Well, I did look it up.
Apparently, when color coding was first used in the olden days on TV as below and changed in 2000.
So there we go.
David Nyhan in the Boston Globe on October 15, 1992: “But when the anchormen turn to their electronic tote boards election night and the red states for Clinton start swamping the blue states for Bush, this will be a strange night for me.”
Nyhan’s column, he refers to red states as Democratic states and blue states as Republican states — just the opposite of current usage. As the Washington Post explained a few days ago:
In 1976, NBC identified states won by Gerald Ford in blue and Jimmy Carter’s states in red. On election night in 1980, ABC News showed Ronald Reagan’s march to the White House as a series of blue lights on a map, with Carter’s states in red. Time magazine assigned red to the Democrats and blue to the Republicans in its election graphics in every election from 1988 to 2000. The Washington Post’s election graphics for the 2000 election were Republican-blue, Democrat-red.
Although there was never any kind of consensus on this, prior to 2000 it was more common to associate red with Democrats and blue with Republicans.

I like the color red better than blue so I am glad. It is all in your imagination thinking it is communist. So what? The only ones I hear saying that is FREEPERS. Red is just a color...a great one mind you. I would not want a blue mustang...Now a Red Mustang is awesome.

I hate when I hear this. Reagan was his own person and made his own decisions...this reminds me of the people who claimed that Reagan had a feable mind. No he was smart and knew what he was doing. Also people say that McCain was forced to pick Palin as if Maverick McCain can be told what to do.
