June 1 (Bloomberg) -- Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, in a break with his party, said he could support tax increases to help reduce the federal governments budget deficit.
The brother of former President George W. Bush told a congressional panel in Washington today that he could back a theoretical deficit-reduction package that would include $1 in tax increases for every $10 in spending cuts.

If you could bring to me a majority of people to say that were going to have $10 in spending cuts for $1 of revenue enhancement -- put me in, coach, Bush told the House Budget Committee.

This will prove Im not running for anything, [Bush] said, prompting laughter from lawmakers and the audience.
I appreciate your candor, said Representative Lloyd Doggett, a Texas Democrat who had pressed Bush on the issue.
Jeb Bush is a fool. Taxes is part of the reason that our economy is in the toilet. This ass should be kicked out of the Party.
Dumba$$.
Did you learn NOTHING from your father’s mistakes?
I hope this guy never runs again.
Stay out da Bushes.
Fool.
Which works out to $10 in tax increases for every $1 (or $0) in spending cuts. He should know that! Where has he been?
what a jackass.
please, no more bushes.
I expect the next stop for Jeb will be the MSNBC Studios.
He is history. No VP slot for this moron. At least he could have said.....lets take a look at all necessary and proper spending IAW the Constitution first then we will look at taxes.
Deer Jeb - it seems to me that if’n you was to cut $10 in spendin’, you ain’t gunna need to raise $1 in taxes. Nuff said.
Why is Jeb so ignorant of reality?
Tax increase are ONLY ever used to BUY VOTES!
They are NEVER used to “reduce deficits”!
I guarantee that Romney feels the same way as ol’ Jeb here.
Attention Jeb: We don’t care what you think.
Of ALL people, Jeb should have learned this lesson. His dad got snookered on this type of deal and lost his presidency. Sort of like Charlie Brown and the football, Jeb doesn’t think Liberal Lucy will pull the football out again just before he kicks. GHWB signed off on tax increases for future spending reductions. Reagan did the same. Reagan learned his lessons, but the Bush’s always seem to take Dems at their word. Fortunately, on the tax issue, 43 stood strong on the issue.
We’ve had lots of tax increases over the years and have yet to ever, ever, have a spending decrease.
Spending decreases are unicorns. They have never happened.
1992 (Bush 41) “Read my lips, no new taxes!” 2012 (Jeb Bush) “Read my lips, TAXES, TAXES, TAXES!!!”
At least Jeb had to balls to kill his career in the open.
Paging Walter Mondale!!!
