Its estimated that tens of thousands of people in Japan and the whole of North America have been affected, with reports indicating that children in Japan and the U.S. are already being born with birth defects, as well as thousands who have already succumbed to radiation related illness. As we initially followed the breaking news during the first thirty days of the accident, we suggested the Fukushima disaster would be worse than Chernobyl. Not even we could have imagined how much worse it would be.

Gave up trying to feel better on Planet Ape many years ago. No red pill required.
They said it was rich with opportunities. But, I digress.
You remember my telling you yesterday that I eat oysters out of Willapa Bay, on the southern coast of Washington State?
I think it would be wise for me to get one of those hand-held portable dosimeters and check the oysters out before consumption. (I suspect the Feds are already doing that, but who really knows?)
Some of the dosimeters being sold on Ebay are like those I operated while working at the Trojan Nuclear Plant twenty years ago. My nephew wants one and we’ll probably get one.
If you are being serious about the meter, would recommend one in the future just because the current DC establishment has been hell bent on proliferating nuclear technology all over the planet. Iran has nuclear power plants. And they are at about 30 to 35 degrees north latitude. Then of course there is the possibility that Israel might have to resort to nuclear weapons in its upcoming war with Iran. And I believe the Israelis have some really big ones. Then of course, we have North Korea, Pakistan and the rest of the middle east pursuing nuclear power. So, more nuclear accidents and additional nuclear wars are as certain as the sun rising.
I live in the US state where the government fired off 1000+ underground nukes.
No glowing tentacles growing from my forehead yet, but my wife will testify that I do have superhuman powers.
I'll watch your stuff for you.
Correct, radiation does have benefits.
We live within about 2 miles of a nuclear generation plant and find our electric bills about half of what can be expected for a home the size of ours.
Since everything in the house glows in the dark we almost never need to turn on the lights.
Spent fuel rods causing cataclysmic explosions? An interwoven set of exaggerated theories based on “current estimates” that have been pulled from a radio show website and the opinions of a retired, utterly unqualified, Army General (also a 9-11 truther?) Well, I’m just sayin,’ I’m not skipping lunch to go out and buy iodine.
The radiation in the atmosphere disperses. After it crosses the ocean, it is so dispersed that you’d be getting probably less then 1/1,000 of what the average Japanese is getting and they aren’t dying at a greater rate than they were before Fukishima.
Here's all you need to know to sleep well at night, again: In Japan, there were two uncontained and purposed fission nuclear detonations. Within years, people lived right near ground zero with minimal effects.

Ok, that was funny raht thar, I don’t care WHO y’are.
General Stubblebine commanded the US Army Intelligence Center and School (USAICS) while I was there for the intelligence analyst (MOS 96B) course in 1978.
“This is emotionally damaging. I need as many of my fellow FReepers to remind me that this is all just a bunch of overblown hype, and that everything is going to be alright, and that there is nothing wrong.”
This is just more green propaganda Fracking from the totalitarian wing of the International Green Partay.
The Sky is falling, the sky is falling! Give us a federal grant! Buahahahahaha!
My son lives in Japan, has two children, a Japanese wife and a very sensitive Geiger Counter I had sent him within a month after the Fukashima/Tsunami.
For those wishing to debunk, I can tell you that my son and his family would be the first on the plane back to the states IF there was a radiation problem, to protect his two young boys, 3 and 1.5 years old. He is in a tenure track position at an Advanced Institute of Technology, which has monitored radiation in the environment for a generation and more as a matter of continuing graduate studies. There is no problem as described in this thread article.
The only places there is a problem is in the Fukashima Area, and they continue to contain any spread of the problem by restricting the exit of anything from the effected areas, including food stuffs, used cars, steel and the like.
The Greenies just have a death wish to glow in the dark for a few seconds before they run screaming en mass over a cliff like so many lemmings. That is the mind set of most green weenies who seek totalitarian remedies with every created crisis.
A pox on all these Greenies, they are a curse upon the face
of the earth, worse than a persistent zit on the a$$ of a retired harlot who never bathes, and nobody really cares about her any more.
Good shrinks available here, 5 cents.
Yes, the remedy is so clear. We must INVADE Japan, and show them that they must follow the entombment option!
A military solution, thats the only answer! /s
What a bunch of whopping effers these propagandists in the thread article are.
The USA needs a new nuclear powered generating station in every state. Get Obama to write THAT into an executive order TODAY!
Thank you (and everyone else) for the post. I feel a bit better now. I’m not a doom and gloom monger, but when I read news stories like these, I get a bit depressed. The one thing that bothers me the most is that all the MSM networks are not reporting any of this, it’s as if it never happened, that worries me more then if they were on the nightly news every night telling us we were all going to die of radiation exposure. I’ve always been a believer of, it’s not what they tell you, it’s what they DON’T tell you that matters.
