Newt Gingrich says he's dropping out 'about' May 2 and endorsing Romney [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 4/29/2012 | Nicholas Ballasy

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told The Daily Caller in a video interview that he is dropping out of the Republican presidential race 'probably about Wednesday' May 2 and endorsing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Gingrich, alongside his wife Callista, said the GOP's message in the general election should be, "Can you afford four more years like this? Not complicated. Do you want this much unemployment, this high a gasoline price, this much deficit spending? You have a great president but if you don't want this, you better vote for somebody new."

What is the deal?

Is Newt OFF the ballot entirely, or what? Lots of states have had no primary yet. 1144 is not actually here.

We will vote for dog catcher before we cast one for Rommell.

Someone needs to STAY on the ballot, or the GOP-E needs to guarantee a convention brawl, which they will NEVER DO, since they have succeeded with their cram down candidate among the useful idiots among us.

As for Palin, who was scared to run, Perry, Herb Cain, Bachmann, Santorum, and now NEWT, they all have said from the get-go that they intend “to back the nominee”.

What an old tag line for cover. THAT is not what REBELLION is made of. That’s politics as usual by those who have been gamed and are now IN the game for their own fruitful future here in the Land of OZ.

Where were they when the last conservative was standing?
Crickets, but for their mime of “ABO”. They were not willing to put their skin in the game to the end either.

Fire in the belly melted into tepid squish and became “go along to get along”. After all, they’re set. They will now be picked off by the Rommell campaign to cooperate with the socialist. Clear as a bell, that’s coming.

Ick.

“THAT is not what REBELLION is made of.”

So you're saying “rebellion” is made of: 1) not voting, 2) voting third party, or 3) doing a write in?

I don't see these options as rebellion, I see them as wasting a vote and helping a Marxist win a second term.

As Rush says: “I live in Realville.”

The point would be to pack these conventions with the pitchfork crowd, and I should think we have a chance of doing that this year, if there was but a promotional push to do so, some BUZZ to do so, but it seems to me that throwing in the towel before 1144 and after, is being broadly accepted.

Tea Party must become delegates locally, at county and state to hope to shut down “open” primaries at least.

Whadaya think?

we get Zero input

It's enough to make one think it is part of a plan to deny solutions to Americans other than acceptance of socialism as the norm. The repubs had better address this problem and shake up the process or (I fear) the process is doomed. First mclame now mittens? Looks like planned out events bent on the destruction of America(imho). Do I sound too dramatic or nuts?

I doubt that Romney has any real deep convictions about our military as neither he or his four sons who all were certainly eligible for military service at some time never served. That being said I will say that would not in itself stop me from voting for Romney. However, what will not allow me to vote for Romney is if his choice for VP is someone who is not eligible for POTUSA by requirement of the Constitution as NBC. For me Rubio does not qualify for this reason and now his latest subscription for international involvements.

Serving in the military is for the little people, according to Mitt.

I agree - there are a lot of spineless "conservatives" who are simply throwing in the towel and accepting whatever the GOP-E shovels at them again. These people never learn, it's always, "Well, we'll get it right the NEXT time, but THIS election is just TOO IMPORTANT to chance on going third party or otherwise rocking the boat." The GOP-E knows this will be the response every time, which is why the GOP-E knows that these conservatives are just empty windbags who will do nothing...except roll over and accede to the next RINO that the GOP-E foists off onto us.

As for your plan for taking over the Party from the county up (I know all about this because this was MY plan, back in 2008) - I am not hopeful.

First of all, if it was as easily done as people seem to think it would be, it already would have been. If the way was clear for Tea Partiers and other angry conservatives to simply march into their county conventions and take over, then moving up to state, and then to national, they would have already done so, especially given how fired up everybody was in 2010.

The problem is, it's simply not a matter of getting a bunch of ticked-off people together and showing up.

Let me digress for a moment by making a few observations about what we, in a general sense, tend to refer to as the "GOP-E."

The GOP-E is generally made up of people who are political "players," people who, for better or for worse, know the ins and outs of the political game. They may be elected officials, or they may just be Party officials, all the way down to the precinct and county chairs. As a result, they know the tricks to use, the obscure rules to invoke, etc. to keep things going the way they want them to. Most of them are RINOs because they feel they have to compromise to play the game successfully.

How many average Joes know Robert's Rules of Order? Chances are very few do. So right there, your scads of people will have no clue how to even do anything at a county convention, because the GOP-E chairman or designated moderator will be invoking strict RRoR left and right against anybody who gets out of line. If they don't like a resolution to be presented, it can be squashed every way from being ruled "out of order" at will to being tossed on a technicality to the person wishing to present the resolution simply not being called on, ever, if the leadership gets a hint of what they're trying to do.

I've even seen it where a sitting RINO precinct chair who wanted to pass the baton to her hand-picked RINO successor did this: after the convention broke up into precinct meetings, she called for nominations to fill the precinct chair for the next two-year term. She had a pre-picked person nominate the hand-picked successor right off the bat, and then she immediately closed nominations. I mean immediately as in "20 milliseconds after the hand-picked successor's name was spoken." Guess who got to be the new precinct chair, despite grumbling from everyone else?

When people like me talk about the GOP-E and how it's able to manipulate the process within the GOP, stuff like this is what I'm talking about, from the county level all the way up to the inner echelons of the national Party. If they don't want changes made, then the rules get made or changed to prevent these reforms from taking place. It's easy to say, "Well, we'll just replace these people." It's a lot harder to actually do it, even if you have numbers on your side. The GOP-E really and truly IS an entrenched, power-grubbing cadre of political players who are not about to let a bunch of upstarts turn their apple cart over.

That's why if you show up to a county convention with a bunch of ticked off pitchfork-wavers, all that's going to happen is that you will leave the convention with even-angrier pitchfork wavers.

That's why all these folks who say, "Well, let's vote for Romney, but we're going to take the GOP over!!!" are naive. No they're not. Not going to happen.

I know you live in Rush’s “Realville”, but look what REALVILLE has become—a manipulation unto cooperation with the Republican Party now finally and completely empowered to put up a SOCIALIST for our nominee (in a cram down) as his record clearly attests.

The Party elite are thinking “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”, since the sheeple are again falling in line out of now the FEAR factor, because things have gotten so bad, which the GOP are using as a tool to move us LEFT. They want to move Left. (Rush has said as much.)

My take is that two things can be accomplished IF we stand up.

One, is that the GOP-E will be flabbergasted that their tactics (for once) are a FAIL, and they will be forced back to the RIGHT, and will become very nervous about having left behind the conservative principles that in most all cases put them in office.

TWO, is that the GOP-E would cheerfully vote with Rommell presidency, because he is a socialist Republican, they own him and want to see him succeed, where as, they would FIGHT against those very same socialist agendas, tooth and nail, if offered by OBAMA the TERRIBLE, say, in a second term.

To me that is REALVILLE. Who wants to be seen aiding and abetting this stuff, by falling over and grabbing our ankles for so many election cycles, one after another, until we have fallen to this— that we are now set to cast a vote out of “fear” of the alternative. That thinking has cost lives.

I don’t even know this America anymore. We were the Home of the Brave, who despised government, willing to fight to the death. Not anymore. Dupes, in numbers so large that it makes my knees quiver, and they are our very own sheeple neighbors now, willing to sink LOW for what they falsely believe brings them Peace and Security, or delays the inevitable because they are cowards and won’t put up a fight to stop it.

Can’t they see that it will only CONTINUE to get worse with their cooperation?? History proves it. We wait until hundreds of thousands have to die and our own door is in jepardy before we rebel, and it is too late.

We have a chance, but yes, it is scary, risky, but if we stand for our tradition, G-d will do the rest. But this, this must turn HIS stomach, for the neither hot nor cold are all over the place cooperating with a socialist who holds no aversion to abortion, who invented the template for the Marxist individual mandate, and seeded the force down on Catholic hospitals in MA to cooperate with abortion insurance, which is now blown up to what it really is, an attack on religious liberty. And THIS is our nominee!

That is what I believe, so no other rationalization for the fear vote can work on me. I can’t turn evil into good, no matter how tempting it is. Freedom is not free.

Both options are fear filled, but we should rather be in fear for standing, than in fear while falling.

I will vote down ticket and do a write-in, and trust God for the rest. If God Himself has designed this as our test for trust in Him, or our trust intead in the same old tactical engineering that has brought us down to actual FEAR, then I want to be on the right side, vote my Christian conscience and trust my GOD for the rest. I am sure of this. Consequences and all, I trust HIM, so long as I stand up a vote for doing right by that trust.

I am not so afraid to lose in the eyes of the world on earth, as the world sees things, but I am determined to vote Christian right as I see it and trust God for the rest. To do otherwise, I think I see the future for our country worsening by apathy and fear and eventually apostasy in an attempt to justify cowardice.

REBELLION IS HARD, AND IT’S SCARY. The earlier we stand and protest and refuse to participate, the better our chances. Otherwisem this is all going to worsen if we don’t.

endorsing Romney

If memory serves, ol' Newt (or, was it just some of his hopeful followers?) once said he could NEVER endorse Williard.

But, a $4.3 million debt will do that to you. Willard can make that go away.

we have to “lose” to “win”?

George Washington utilized this strategy and it eventually worked out with a "win". Known fact ... George Washington lost more battles than he won.

That the GOP electorate is full of idiots? Newt did some of us a favor and showed us how flat-out moronic they were.

I hope to never again here supposed conservatives shoot off their mouths about rebellion. They had they chance right before Iowa and decided to be too cute by half.
