Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told The Daily Caller in a video interview that he is dropping out of the Republican presidential race 'probably about Wednesday' May 2 and endorsing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Gingrich, alongside his wife Callista, said the GOP's message in the general election should be, "Can you afford four more years like this? Not complicated. Do you want this much unemployment, this high a gasoline price, this much deficit spending? You have a great president but if you don't want this, you better vote for somebody new."

Do they allow “pinch hitters” in presidential campaign debates? We’d love to see Speaker Gingrich in there! The contrast would be striking.
Until he actually drops out, I’m still with Newt. Guess it won’t be long now.
Only thing left to do is pray for lightning to strike the convention, Romney sees it as a sign to drop out, and they draft Sarah Palin.
Otherwise, I'm writing her in.
Pffft!

I STILL won’t vote for Romney in the Texas Primary. No Way, No How.
I’m also STILL Mad as Hell that my primary vote won’t count for shiite.. again.. as in 2008. Biggest population Red state, and two Presidential elections in a row, we get Zero input. That just ain’t right.
Let’s go back to the smoke filled rooms .. we got better candidates from them.
Yeeeoooow....love your optimism but I highly doubt that would ever happen.
Sarah will endorse Mitt, that will be a thread to end all threads.
Nevermind, Newt. Forget the convention. Everybody takes cover behind the tree labeled, “ABO”.
I’m looking for a LEADER. Hells Bells, Ron Paul is the only stayer among our motley crew.
NO REBELLION IN ANY OF THEM. Did someone threaten their life or something. I mean crickets everywhere.
Sarah Palin
Rick Santorum
Michelle Bachmann
Herb Cain
Rick Perry
All crickets and covering their locks with “ABO” as the cop-out, betrayal, white flaggers and no fighters, they have all proved thenselves to be.
There are no General Washingtons’ among us. Huh. Who’d a thunk it? I’m stumped.
But hoo ray for Trey Gowdy anyway. Gowdy for President.
Well, Palin will also endorse, support and campaign for Willard. So you are going to write in someone who doesn't want your vote, has no electors and can't win, and who will be actively backing a candidate (Romney) who is so terrible you won't vote for him (yet Sarah will be asking you to do just that). If you are standing on principle, what is the point of writing-in someone who does not share it and is actively working against you?
my vote won't matter either so it really doesn't matter.
either way, I guess we're just plain screwed, we either get a lib or a marxist.
Thanks Innovative.
Well, politicians are nothing if not pragmatists. She's in the ABO camp, and that's fine, she's got every right to endorse Mittens. I imagine she's been waiting to see what Newt did before making any such move.
The only way she could avoid endorsing Mittens is if she were going to mount a serious third party run, which ain't happening this year at least.
So I'll write her in. I live in upstate NY, and the sheer weight of the Democrat majority in NYC means that my state will go hard for Obummer regardless of my vote. So I might as well write her in and feel that I've expressed my belief, which is that she is the best we have available for America.
People in California or other hard-Democrat states should consider voting their consciences, IMO. Nothing to lose, and maybe somebody will notice.
Come on lightning!
All our “name” candidates are under rocks now. Hiding out under “ABO” so they don’t have to mount a rebellion which is so sorely needed and we are begging for.
But they will ALL have their cheery little faces in the camera trying to string us along again in the future.
Not a chance here. I am looking for a leader that stays to play all the way to hell and back, who doesn’t duck out when the going gets tough, or when at the cliff’s edge, or when careening into a brick wall, and certainly not because they sit on millions and then say they have run out of money.
"Can you afford four more years like this? Not complicated. Do you want this much unemployment, this high a gasoline price, this much deficit spending? You have a great president but if you don't want this, you better vote for somebody new."
She's gotta do what she's gotta do -- she's a politician and her viability depends on that. I understand that.
It doesn't detract from her executive ability and general right-thinking. Which are why I continue to think she is the best we have today for America. It's just unfortunate that she's not running.
I guess that tells us all we needed to know about Noot.
I can see him dropping out if he’s out of cash, but no way can I see him endorsing Romney. FU Noot!
