Voting for Romney? Where is your line in the sand? (Vanity)

Posted on 04/26/2012 9:18:03 AM PDT by Student0165

I want to ask those who consider themselves conservatives, and are going to vote for Romney because he happens to have an (R) instead of a (D) behind his name on the ballot sheet, where do you draw your personal line in the sand and say "No more"? For stupid people reading this (liberals and DHS type workers), I don't mean violence - I mean not voting for "the lesser of two evils".

The line in the sand is the ""R" vs the "D." I'm gonna vote for the "R." My preferred candidates either didn't run or aren't winning. Romney isn't perfect (and no candidate was), but he's the only candidate with a chance of winning against Obama, so he will get my vote. Anyone voting for a third party candidate might as well write in Donald Duck or James T. Kirk. As Donald Rumsfeld said, "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want." And as Voltaire said, I won't "let the perfect be the enemy of the good." Here are a few great quotes from earlier in the thread:

Allowing a hardcore leftist to stay in office just to spite the RINO establishment is the wrong hill to die on. Just as I love it when Democrats vote for Greens, you can be sure the Democrats will love it when you vote for anyone other than the GOP nominee.

Why do you dimwits keep asking such stupid questions? It is real simple folks: If you don't vote for Romney, Obama will win. What is so hard to understand about that?

Just one thing I will add, how a person can bitch and moan about Obama day in day out and not do all they can to get him out with their vote makes no sense at all not even a little. A non vote, a write in for anyone other then Romney against Obama is a vote for Obama and the person that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.

There is only one Perfect Man, and He isn't running. Besides he is a Monarchist anyway. Not only that, but he did not go much for temporal power, but spiritual.
That said, we will ALWAYS be voting for the "lesser of two evils" and it is naive to think that will ever change.

Those that do not vote for Romney must make the case that a victory for 0bama is preferable. Write ins, not voting, or voting 3rd party is futile and will not advance conservativism or stop or even slow down the march to socialism.

BTW: Everything you talk about doing to create this third party could be done within the GOP easier and quicker.

What's the difference?

Damn right. Such perfectness cannot be had. Most don’t want to run because our side will savage them to a pulp before the dems ever get to it.

All you said is spot on.

“You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want.”

I’m already in the army I want. The army I want is right here. Me. A revolutionary cell of one. My vote to revolt carried unanimously.

I’m not about to apply for the National Socialist Party simply because the French are losing. I prefer the Resistance.

“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established, should not be changed for light and transient causes; and, accordingly, all experience [has] shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce [the people] under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.” —Thomas Jefferson: Declaration of Independence, 1776. ME 1:29, Papers 1:429

“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing [a people] to slavery.” —Thomas Jefferson: Rights of British America, 1774. (*) ME 1:193, Papers 1:125

“When patience has begotten false estimates of its motives, when wrongs are pressed because it is believed they will be borne, resistance becomes morality.” —Thomas Jefferson to M. deStael, 1807. ME 11:282

“Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.” —Thomas Jefferson: his motto.

“If ever there was a holy war, it was that which saved our liberties and gave us independence.” —Thomas Jefferson to John Wayles Eppes, 1813. ME 13:430 “The oppressed should rebel, and they will continue to rebel and raise disturbance until their civil rights are fully restored to them and all partial distinctions, exclusions and incapacitations are removed.” —Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Religion, 1776. Papers 1:548

“As revolutionary instruments (when nothing but revolution will cure the evils of the State) [secret societies] are necessary and indispensable, and the right to use them is inalienable by the people.” —Thomas Jefferson to William Duane, 1803. FE 8:256

” My theory is that many Republicans didn’t want to run because as ugly as the races can get they like even less the thought of being a POTUS with :
1) a 6+ Trillion dollar debt, 1.5T$ deficit,
2) Democrats who have a sole mission to destroy them,
3) a base (us) that wants/needs them to get things done that a PoTUS cant do WITHOUT A FILIBUSTER PROOF Senate.
4) Independents that are so clueless they dont even know which party controls the congress half the time.

When asked if he would run by Cavuto, Jim DeMint replied :”Why the hell would I want THAT job?” “

This is what I surmised.

Deb, let me ask you a question if you can put away your anger long enough to answer it. What, exactly, are the differences between Romney and Obama? Seriously. If you can tell me that, I will consider voting for Romney.

My experience was different, it was successful. If you’re unsuccessful there are reasons for it.

No, you don't get it. I was very successful, again and again and again. But it didn't matter, because it was in the end a rigged game.

I hope you learn this before wasting too much of your life functioning as cannon fodder for people who hate you.

Just a reminder that it’s my post #304 that he is mocking.

Voting liberal takes you from American to socialist sympathiser in less time than it takes Barney Frank to get the drawers off a Congressional aide.

student0165:

Stick to your guns and don't take any crap for being an actual conservative. The existence of young folks like you motivates your actually conservative elders all the more. Thank you for being you.

TruthHound:

This 65-year old former Reagan State Chairman is in full sympathy with student0165. It is a pleasure to know that there are principled young people willing to fight the real fight for our movement, our party and our country (those "our" uses don't mean you). This is NOT a game and neither is rewarding Romney and his Wall Street big shots for their relentless campaign of distortions, lies, libels and slanders against each and every actually conservative candidate in the race. Not one positive ad about the Mittwit's plans for America just lie after lie after lie repeated in each primary state fourteen times per hour on every station with available airtime until the rank and file sheep were brought into line in most states to deliver the GOP and its convention and its nomination to that shameless whore who was the worst excuse for a GOP officeholder in the modern history of the GOP.

Gun grabber. Check. Baby killer. Check. Marriage destroyer. Check. Nominator of Leftists to the Massachusetts bench. Check. Certain to name young John Paul Stevens types to SCOTUS and the federal bench or maybe Eric Cantor or Janet Waco. Check. Doesn't give a damn about the US military and never did and never will. Check. Global Warming Goober. Check. Medicine Socializer. Check. Raiser of taxes on ordinary folks to comfort the trust fund babies. Check. Marionette for every corrupt business interest in the country generally and in the Northeast particularly. Check.

I will proudly tell my grandchildren that, starting in high school and ever since, I have fought the good fight for conservative principle, spent sixteen years working for Reagan's nomination and election as POTUS, and refused to vote for either Obozo or his "GOP" ideological twin in whiteface Romney. I will have to humbly apologize to my grandchildren for voting ultimately on the usual boogeyman BS about SCOTUS for such sorry trash as Ford, Bush the Elder, Dole and McCain. I won't have to apologize for my role in destroying Lowell Weicker and electing the far more respectable, if not perfect, Joe Lieberman (probably the last patriot who will ever represent Connecticut in the US Senate, thanks to the damage Weicker and his ilk have done to the CT GOP).

If the "process worked as designed," then the process needs to be trashed and replaced and, until it is, the GOP-E needs to be relentlessly punished.

Romney = Obozo = Romney = Obozo = Gerald Ford = Michael Dukakis = Robert (Tax Collector for the Welfare State) Dole = Obozo = Romney = Bush (Read His Lips and New World Order) the Elder = Romney = Obozo = Clinton = John (Did you know he served in Vietnam???? Did you know on which side??? On this alone he does not equal Dole at all or Bush the Elder or McCain, just on everything else) = Obozo = Romney, etc.

If you think this is a tantrum, wait until you see election day. If the Republican Party wants my vote again for POTUS, it can damn well earn it by rejecting the mushball moderation of the Demonrat Lite GOP-E, cleansing the Senate and House caucuses of mushball termites, and nominating actual Republican, actual conservative, actual American nominees, credibly dedicated to babies, marriages, gun rights, capitalism of the kind that benefits everyone not just his poloplaying cronies, tax cuts for folks of modest means, an absolute end to Obozocare and the outlawing of state schemes like Romneycare, a manly foreign policy and a military second to none and well-armed and compensated and ready to devastate and annihilate any enemy that seeks devastation and annihilation with NO nation building and with the enemy paying every nickel that our efforts have incurred, abrogation of each and every treaty sapping the sovereignty of the United States and, of vourse, that's just for starters.

You have the effrontery to attack student0165 and to trivialize him or her in your first sentence rather than admitting the truth that student0165 is far more conservative and principled than you.

If you want to see conservatives vote GOP this year, then dispose of your utterly inferior candidate and start over again by nominating an actual conservative at the convention. Palin will do fine. Then conservatives can keep their consciences intact AND destroy Obozo. If not the first, then prepare for four more years.

AND, speaking of PIMPS, I had thought that pimping for Romney was not encouraged here or very well received. Is Romneycare and its mandatory funding of abortion and other abominations with Planned Barrenhood permanently on its board your idea of the preservation of America and its freedoms? If so, small wonder, you want everyone to join you in falling for Romney's lies.

Let's see. Follow TruthHound and accept the Trojan Horse in our city? Stick with JimRob and fight for what is right? As for me and mine, we are going with JimRob and actual conservatism. Stick your hope. Take your horse and your candidate with you. We'll keep our change. You betcha!

I googled some Romney potential Supreme Court picks the other day. I didn't know much about their real philosophy but their records seemed ok. Like this one "Paul Clement, who served as U.S. solicitor general under President George W. Bush and is now a lawyer in private practice, is the favorite of many conservatives. Clement argued last month for the Supreme Court to strike down Obama's 2010 healthcare law, and he is defending laws that ban same-sex marriage and that target illegal immigrants."

I don't know if these are just straw men to get conservatives on his side. I do know that any Romney pick will be better than Sotomeyer or Kagan.

The key word and problem is “potential.” Like most of the speeches Romney has given lately what he says doesn't match what he did as Governor. I'm afraid that while people may suggest he appoint conservative judges, his record says he won't. I don't think we can give the man a pass for having been in a liberal state. No one is under more pressure from he liberal media than the president. I would expect picks just like he had in Massachusetts, I have no faith that the leopard has changed his spots.

This article sums up the problem. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2865001/posts
