BANGOR, Maine Waterfront Concerts promoter Alex Gray said Sunday that he doesnt plan to call off Ted Nugents Bangor performance despite remarks from two city councilors that the controversial rock star shouldnt be allowed to play in the city.
Last week, Councilor Charlie Longo emailed a letter to Gray saying that the concert series shouldnt allow Nugent to perform because of comments he made during a National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis. Longo later posted the letter to his website.
During the convention, Nugent was quoted saying, If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year. If you cant go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, I dont even know what youre made out of.
Longo argued that a man who would make such threatening comments doesnt belong on a Bangor stage.
In the wake of one of the most fiery election seasons ever, I believe that this vitriolic, incendiary rhetoric has no place in our national discourse, he wrote.

Liberal punishment attempt for someone not kowtowing to their line of infamy
Did you hear about the groom who was taking his bride to Maine for their honeymoon?
Yeah, he said he was going to Bangor for a week.
If Democrats don’t like you, you should not be allowed to exist.
Freedom of speech for me, but not for thee.
These power hungry little trolls of the government are way our of control.
Did Hollweird cancel Alec Baldwin when he threatened the Bush Family DIRECTLY???
Democrats, go stuff it.
How ‘bout we just let the concert proceed and see if anyone shows up. That way, the free market dictates what the public wants, not some friggin’ idiot bureaucrat.
If he gives a concert in my town I will be there.
The Secret Service looked the comments over. They’re satisfied. These two councilmen can suck an alligator egg.
.
But if he was going to burn a flag, urinate on a cross, etc. "in the name of art" they'd be allocating city funding to keep the show there for a week.
It is called free speech. They want to keep him out because of his remarks. Funny, I'd like to hear/see him perform all the more because of his remarks.
Longo is in some deep doo-doo because he used official paperwork to make his comments. He dodged the local radio show that was trying to contact him all morning.
I wonder how upset Charlie was when the left was constantly degrading and threatening George W Bush?
Charlie’s email... Charles.Longo@bangormaine.gov
sounds like he felt threatened.
Locally libs are looking really silly over this. The more press these two get the worse they look.
Eugene Robinson through a little 12 yr old girl hissy fit over this.
They really don’t like having people point out their fascist tendencies and fight back.
