Bank of America to McMillan Rifles: 'Drop dead'
The Truth About Guns ^ | 4/20/12 | Zimmerman

Posted on 04/20/2012 12:28:36 PM PDT by pabianice

[UPDATE: In an email late this evening, Ryan McMillan has confirmed the validity of this story.]

When the Bank of America was founded back in 1904, no one ever thought that it would one day truly be the Bank of America. As in (partially) government owned. Just like Government Motors, Chrysler, the entire student loan industry and more, the federal government’s insatiable grasping tentacles are woven throughout one of the world’s largest commercial bank and brokerage operations. And as has always been true, if you take the king’s shilling, you’re damned well going to do his bidding. The folks at McMillan found out recently that means some kinds of business are no longer wanted . . .

From McMillan’s Facebook page via reddit:

Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Marlet Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories. At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possibly save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer want my business.” “That is correct” he says. I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?” “You have to do what you must” he said. “So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?” Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say.

I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bare arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products. Kelly D. Good I just called up BoA and read the riot act to the Customer Service rep and told him that I was going to cancel all of my accounts and never do business with them again. I also told him that the NRA was notified (it has) and that they could lose millions of customers too. I also told him to pass my comments up to the CEO and thank Mr. Fox.

You just yelled at a 20 yr old kid making $9.00 working in a call center. Dumbass.

Also, your comments will not get to the CEO.

I have several different cards. I have no balance on any of them. This is just in case stuff, if I see something that works, I can access easy quick monies.

I have no friends — none — that are over 55 and have not been laid-off from their long-time jobs and replaced with workers who cost the company less. If there is another special interest group that needs forming, it’s us: Over 55 and Screwed Out of Our Jobs. Where’s OUR bailout??

We have to make sure our young people understand that the world has changed - that jobs are an apprenticeship for real life - i.e., running their own businesses - and that by age 40 they had better be ready to leave the corporate nest and fly on their own. To most employers these days, a 55-year-old "employee" is about the equivalent of a 30-year-old high school student who still lives at home with his parents.

It was originally called the Bank of Italy.

I just canceled my BOA line of credit and tossed the credit card in the shredder.

My one credit card account with BOA is done with a phone call. Hope many others will do the same.

I don’t bank with them, and my office is not in their local office building. I have posted articles on all my local and regional Facebook groups about Bank of America dropping of McMillan Rifles.

Dumped BOA years ago when I accidentally found if you were Hispanic you didn’t even need a SSN to open an account or call through their automated phone banking...

Pure insanity for sure...

I have a Bass Pro credit card that is through BoA. So they don’t mind if people use their card to buy a gun, but they don’t want to extend credit to a company that makes firearms? Makes no sense.

I am seeing this happen with greater frequency as well. Hmmm.....

Scratched BoA when they started issuing credit cards to illegals.

Never, ever take any IT subcontracting jobs for BofA and their pet crook hiring front partners called the Roelker Group and Net-Tech Consultants. I regret my time with them. Endless horror stories and Dilbert fodder.

I refuse to work for any bank whatsoever. They all suck. Telecoms too. They suck as bad.
