Bank of America to McMillan Rifles: 'Drop dead'
The Truth About Guns ^ | 4/20/12 | Zimmerman

Posted on 04/20/2012 12:28:36 PM PDT by pabianice

[UPDATE: In an email late this evening, Ryan McMillan has confirmed the validity of this story.]

When the Bank of America was founded back in 1904, no one ever thought that it would one day truly be the Bank of America. As in (partially) government owned. Just like Government Motors, Chrysler, the entire student loan industry and more, the federal government’s insatiable grasping tentacles are woven throughout one of the world’s largest commercial bank and brokerage operations. And as has always been true, if you take the king’s shilling, you’re damned well going to do his bidding. The folks at McMillan found out recently that means some kinds of business are no longer wanted . . .

From McMillan’s Facebook page via reddit:

Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Marlet Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories. At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possibly save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer want my business.” “That is correct” he says. I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?” “You have to do what you must” he said. “So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?” Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say.

I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bare arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products. Kelly D. I just canceled my BOA line of credit and tossed the credit card in the shredder.

Good I just called up BoA and read the riot act to the Customer Service rep and told him that I was going to cancel all of my accounts and never do business with them again. I also told him that the NRA was notified (it has) and that they could lose millions of customers too. I also told him to pass my comments up to the CEO and thank Mr. Fox.

“I also told him to pass my comments up to the CEO and thank Mr. Fox.”

Why should they care? They’ll just get another bailout.

FWIW, my wife and I scrapped our BofA accounts years ago, although for different reasons. Namely, their service sucked.

It's important to note that today's Bank of America is not the original Bank of America, based in San Francisco. The current user of the name bought this bank, along with several others over a decade ago.

The original BoA was an old line western US facility that also cleared the checks for overseas military families in the post WW II era.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm talking about a logging business that is way in the black and has all it's accounts with B of A. All of these accounts will be out of there by the end of next week. We will be spreading the word through fliers that will be included in the envelopes with paychecks and to our competitors. Those who work in the woods all have family and friends who work in the lumber mills and they will be getting the word too.

Monday I will finally break down and send in the funds for a lifetime membership with the NRA. All due to a butthead named Fox. I thanked the bank for clearing up that they are truly unamerican and anti constitution. Hopefully their CEO will get the note I personally sent to him.

I did mention that he is such a huge A-hole that he could stick the whole mess where the sun doesn't shine and will still have room to spare.

Bank of America merged with Nations Bank. Nations leadership took over running the bank which kept the name of BOA. They did not last too long and were replaced. My wife worked for BOA for 32 years. After 32 years, they called up every person in the section she worked in, in 7 offices around the country, and told them they were done in 2 weeks. Thanks. 85% of the people laid off were over age 55. My wife at least got to retire and got a one year buy out salary. Some did not get either of those. The ones that took the 1 year buy out had to sign a document saying they would not sue for age discrimination. If they refused to sign, no buy out and you got canned anyway and if you wanted to sue, do it and take your chances. She took the retirement and money and got a new job. She actually started with another bank, Seattle First National, known as SeaFirst. BOA bought it and let SeaFirst keep their name until that merger with Nations. Then all became BOA. They really changed the bank after BOA and Nations bought SeaFirst. My wife hated the BOA/Nations bunch. We were actually glad she got bought out. Finally we both just retired and moved out of the Peoples Republic of WA State. Happy to be home in Alabama.

Corporations like Bank of Amererica, General Electric, and others that are run by the likes of James Taggart need to do the marketplace a big favor.

Shrivel up and die!

I assume this is up on their website? This guy needs someone to let him know that it's "keep and bear arms".

Their service is the PITS! I had a car loan through them a few years ago. Never again. They were rude regardless of the reason for a call or visit, and there was so much garbage to sort through that when I finally wanted to close my loan savings account, I had to wait over half an hour just to withdrawal the remaining $30.

I have a 60K plus credit card with BOA. I use it occasionally. I would love to cancel it but would need to find another 60K plus card. I imagine that would be difficult in this market.
