sad...American Dreams, the TV series he produced, was incredible....it came right after 9-11; i watched and tried not to cry considering what the nation was going through...
that said- it was very tough watching him on New Years Eve- on one hand i wanted to applaud him for his courage on the other i thought he had made his point the first year he returned from his stroke....

I liked him on the Pyramid, both the daytime and nighttime version of the Pyramid. The $10,000 Pyramid, the $25,000 Pyramid, and the $100,000 Pyramid.
However,Regis wasn’t as good in the Million Dollar Pyamid.
RIP DC.

Grew up with his show in the 50's & 60"s. Sad day! RIP Mr. Clark!
I remember him playing, and us doing, the "Mexican Hat Dance" with my grandmother when I was little. (Mid 50's) And, oh yeah, we all had our favorite couples/dancers.

I still use the phrase "It's gotta good beat and I can dance to it" just for fun. RIP. He will be missed.

RIP to a legend. New Year’s Eve will never be the same.

An immense talent and gentleman to whom several generations of disc jockeys (myself among them) owe a debt of gratitude for setting the standard for entertainment coupled with civility. He almost single-handedly saved top-40 after Alan Freed and the payola scandals. RIP, Dick...the world's oldest teenager.
THIS is the "day the music died."

The Philadelphia teens who were “regulars” became demi-gods to teen audiences at home. In retrospect, the whole enterprise of encouraging kids to come to a TV studio and dance on a TV show everyday after school and watching the show all afternoon was problematical. Why didn’t Dick Clark tell the kids to go home some of the days and do their homework after school?
Dick Clark was an easy to watch and listen to record promoter and arbiter of the teen music market and tastes. His show biz persona was neutral facilitator of developing teen music “sensibilities.” The inarticulate comments of the American Bandstand teens in evaluating the new songs foreshadow the parlance of Valley Girls.

I am one of those who remembers Dick more for “The $25,000 Pyramid” and America’s Funniest Bloopers, than for Bandstand.
