ST. LOUIS — California Congressman Darrell Issa promised members of the National Rifle Association gathered here that his probe of the Operation Fast and Furious scandal will continue until those responsible for the debacle are held accountable.
If the investigation continues into the summer — as some sources here have suggested to this column, with significant action coming around the time of the Republican convention — it could become the major campaign issue many gun rights activists believe it should be.
The downside, noted one source, is that the mainstream press could dismiss it as political theater.
The scandal has been one of three hot topics here as tens of thousands of NRA members stroll through the crowded aisles of a large exhibit hall filled with guns, gear and the kind of grassroots patriotism that NRA leaders hope leads to the defeat of President Barack Obama in November.

Those members have been reminded that it was the Obama administration and Attorney General Eric Holder that quickly announced in early 2009 that they were considering a renewal of the ban on so-called “assault weapons” in an effort to curb violence in Mexico. It was President Obama, they’ve heard repeatedly, who appointed liberal anti-gunners Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.

Well dag nabbit man get on with it then. He was threatening Holder with Contempt of Congress charges months ago. Shouldn’t he be starting Congressional hearings by now? It would take a while to get to the good stuff.
Holder needs to be impeached and then arrested.
For conspiracy to obstruct justice, for perjury, and for his own direct involvement in F and F which has killed three Americans and hundreds of Mexican citizens and itself violated the laws of this nation.
My guess is that the communnications to F and F through the White House National Securty “contact” leads right to Obama...and if so, and if he was involved, the same should apply to him.

We can’t even get one or two GOP congressman to stand up now that we know Obama is pawning off forgeries on us. I doubt they will do anything with F & F.

It’s all empty threats and posturing. Issa will hold them ‘responsible’? Just what exactly does that mean? Jail time? Huge fine? Impeachment? Naw, more likely a sternly worded letter of disappointment.

So far I’m a bit disappointed with how far he has gone with this. Surely not all his fault by any means, but this is one stagnant investigation while that idiot BC issue keeps getting press. THIS is the issue.

Were Bush still in office the Dems would have had his hide by now as well as whatever attorney general he had. And the pubbie leadership of john boehner and mitch mcconnel don’t care to touch this issue cause they’ve been neutered.
