That's true too. My last few tech purchases have been from Amazon. Used to go to BestBuy for everything.
Nor Indiana, mmmmm?
BB CEO resigned. Laying pipe. Made $5 million last year. Not chump change.
It's pretty bad when your store is still named after a mall that was torn down six years ago.
Best Buys typically doesn’t carry whats on their websites.
And If I go online I’ll go Amazon.
Then they have the DISC TV beggars following me around each tine I go in.
So I stopped going in.
The Forbes article describes why the are going out of biz.

I haven’t bought anything in Bestbuy since Circuit City went under. As soon as they thought they were the only show in town, they raised prices like crazy. Who would buy a computer or TV or DVD player from them when you can order one and pay half of their price even with shipping.
I imagine the amount of support Best Buy can count on from The Won is directly correlated to how much they have donated to The Won’s re-election campaign.
the showroom for stuff we end up purchasing cheaper online is having money problems?

faster and cheaper
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. They and CC used to have some great deals on DVDs. When CC went out of business, the sales at Best Buy got a lot rarer and worse. The only store I go into regularly to check DVD prices now is Target, which occasionally has some smoking hot deals but often doesn't list the best stuff in their ads so you have to go in to see what "other titles also on sale" includes.
The internet, their addiction to overpriced Monster cables, they’re deciding to go the same route Radio Shack did and bet the farm on being a Verizon reseller, that annoying magazine promotion they kept running for years constantly hassling you at the checkout, the Geeksquad charging a ton of money to poorly do basic tech support.
There’s a lot of reason BB is going down the drain.
It is common practice for people to check out products at Best Buy and ask the sales people about tech stuff before they buy it on Amazon.
Look up the shopkeeper law in Jewish law.
Six each in CA, IL, and MN. I wonder what their tax picture is these states? I knew someone who worked for Hollywood/Game Crazy here in IL who said the taxes were just too much to stay open.
They are hopeless. If you want to get ripped off on electronics you can just go to an office max, sams club or a walmart. Best Buy is totally pointless anymore.
I think I passed by their world HQ right there in a burb of Minneapolis last summer.
” I stopped shopping at Best Buy when the one in Dedham treated me horribly. I was in shock at how disrespectful the staff was - like they were getting paid to harass customers. “
I had EXACTLY the same experience at that store, so badly that I’ve been making it a part-time job to keep as many people as possible out of that store. I get a whole lot of agreement about it. they can’t close it fast enough to suit me.
No real brick & mortar competition. Only the internet.
Demographic collapse...took about 15 years...fairly quick actually
