Tunes For The Troops     **Artist Showcase** *Still Bill Trailer* William Harrison "Bill" Withers, Jr. (born July 4, 1938) is an American singer-songwriter and musician who performed and recorded from 1970 until 1985. He is well known for songs like "Lean on Me", "Ain't No Sunshine", "Use Me", "Just the Two of Us", "Lovely Day", and "Grandma's Hands". Withers was born the youngest of six children in the small coal-mining town of Slab Fork, West Virginia. Raised in nearby Beckley, West Virginia, Withers was twelve years old when his father died. He enlisted with the United States Navy at age eighteen and served for nine years, during which time he became interested in singing and writing songs. Soon after his discharge from the Navy in 1965, he relocated to Los Angeles in 1967 for a musical career. Withers worked as an assembler for several different companies, including Douglas Aircraft Corporation, while recording demo tapes with his own money, shopping them around and performing in clubs at night. When he debuted with the song "Ain't No Sunshine" he refused to resign his job because of his belief that the music business was a fickle industry and that he was still a novice compared to other acts. For years, scientists have wondered how fire ants, whose bodies are denser than water, can survive floods that should destroy them. How do entire colonies form themselves into life rafts that can float for weeks? A Los Angeles Times article explained that engineers from the Georgia Institute of Technology discovered that tiny hairs on the ants’ bodies trap air bubbles. This enables thousands of the insects, “which flounder and struggle in the water as individuals,” to ride out the flood when they cling together.

The New Testament speaks often of our need to be connected to other followers of Christ in order to survive and grow spiritually. In Ephesians 4, Paul wrote, “We should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine.” He added, “But, speaking the truth in love, may [we] grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love” (vv.14-16).

Alone, we sink; but clinging and growing together in the Lord, we can ride out every storm.

LOL. He went to the grocery store with his Mom,then just as they were about to go out, she discovered that he had grabbed something at the check-out. She had to back and pay for it. LOL, Her first warning that little ones can be shoplifters... LOL. They don’t mean ill but require constant watching. LOL

ROFL! Too Cute. I remember my nephew, many years ago, telling a cashier his Mommy made him eat "Kibbles & Bits"! :)

When my son was about 5 years old we got notice he had been exposed to head lice at school. Did the RID treatments etc.

Dad needed to go to the bank & he threw a fit because he wanted to go. Dad decided to take him.

While they were waiting in line Sonboy began to sing a cheerful song he composed in his mind....."Got bugs in my hair.....got bugs in my hair"...

Poor Big T was mortified & I almost bust a gut laughing when he told me!;-}
