National Right to Life and two other major pro-family groups have endorsed Mitt Romney for president, saying that on the issues of abortion and marriage, he stands with them.
National Right to Life's endorsement Thursday (April 12) came two days after Romney's leading challenger for the Republican nomination -- Rick Santorum -- dropped out, making Romney the presumptive nominee. Also endorsing Romney were the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports pro-life women for political office, and the National Organization for Marriage, which has led the charge nationwide in protecting the traditional definition of marriage.
In its endorsement, National Right to Life said Romney "has taken a strong pro-life position and is committed to implementing policies to protect the unborn." The organization said Romney:
-- opposes Roe v. Wade, having called the 1973 decision a "big mistake."
-- supports the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for abortions.
-- backs the Mexico City Policy, which bans federal funds for organizations that perform or promote abortions in foreign countries.
"On pro-life issues, Mitt Romney and Barack Obama provide a stark contrast," said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. "As the country's most pro-abortion president, Barack Obama has pursued a radical pro-abortion agenda. It is now time for pro-life Americans to unite behind Mitt Romney. For the sake of unborn children, the disabled, and the elderly, we must win."
The Susan B. Anthony List made similar points and added that Romney has pledged to "appoint only constitutionalist judges to the federal bench" and also to defund Planned Parenthood.
"Women deserve a president who truly respects our views on an issue so central to womanhood," said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "A President Romney will be that man. If there was murkiness during the last election over Barack Obama's extreme abortion position, absolute clarity exists now -- and his abortion position is rejected by women young and old."
The National Organization for Marriage, which played key roles in preventing gay "marriage" from being legalized in California and Maine, said Romney was an early signer of the organization's pledge, which meant he was committing to:
-- support an amendment to the U.S. Constitution defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
-- appoint Supreme Court justices and an attorney general "who will apply the original meaning of the Constitution."
-- "vigorously" defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act in court.
-- establish a presidential commission on religious liberty.
-- advance legislation to allow District of Columbia citizens to vote on the definition of marriage. Gay "marriage" currently is legal in D.C.
Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, said the group was "proud" to endorse Romney.
"President Obama," Brown said, "has declared our nation's marriage laws to be unconstitutional and not only has refused to defend them, his administration is actively working to repeal them in the courts. He's come out against state constitutional amendments defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. And he has appointed leaders of the same-sex 'marriage' movement as national co-chairs of his reelection campaign.
Incredibly, Obama still apparently claims to personally support traditional marriage. With friends like President Obama, the institution of marriage doesn't need enemies."

On August 27th the GOP Convention in Tampa will be in full swing. The rest of us former Cain, Perry, Bachman, and Santorum supporters will be glued to the TV screen listening to guest speaker and after guest speaker giving awesome speeches about sending Obama and his shadow communist back to Chicago. You can bet there will still be some diehards left on FR still actively fighting against the Republican ticket with their continuous barrage of post.
Will they still dominate FR in Aug? That is the question. If so you may be right about the self destruction.
Obama certainly HAS!
Yeah, sorry about that..either way, she has been saying that for months. She has said since the beginning she will support whoever the nominee is, same with Bachmann, dont know why this is a surprise to anyone. She is on the ABO crowd, anyone but Obama. I dont like Romney either, never liked the guy, but to imagine another 4 years of Obama, I dont want to see my country turn into Greece..and I think its wrong to trash Sarah Palin for saying she will support whoever the nominee is, its NOT her fault the GOP has chosen Romney to be the nominee(Or its looking that way) she cant do anything about it
Oh I forgot to mention I have supported Gingrich since the beginning and I DO plan on voting for him when the primary is held here in CA
She believes in something most don’t.
It’s what Reagan called the 11th commandment.
He sure as heck has no chance of winning if the people who say they will protect and defend the US Constitution give up like wusses and accept GOVERNMENT-ESTABLISHED religion coming from the guy who has bought off our own party.
All that outcry by the Catholic Church when it was found that Obamacare would force Catholics to pay for and perform abortions. Jews, Evangelicals, Catholics.... all stood together to say that religious coercion by the government is wrong. We all thought maybe the Catholic Church had gotten the gumption to actually stand up for their own freedom.
And then we found out that Obama was just copying what Romney - the R-e’s knight in shining armor who bought off endorsements with his money and won states by law-breaking and trickery - had already done in Massachusetts, and the CAtholic Church had slavishly fallen in line just like all these supposed Constitution lovers will fall in line behind Romney.
God! Have we no spine? Have we no convictions? No hope? Lord, rescue us from our own complacency. How many men have died for the freedom that Romney is stealing while most the “patriots” whimper that he’s the best we can do?
“Take up the battle with the foe. To you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die we shall not sleep, though poppies blow in Flanders Fields.”
Every soldier who sacrificed for the blood-bought freedom of religion in this country is rolling over in his grave, wondering if we will carry the torch he died for, or if we will trample it underfoot on the way to a rally for Mitt Romney because we couldn’t muster up the courage to continue the fight.
I am sickened.
There is no way in heck I am going to break faith with all those who have died defending the freedom of religion. No way. AS long as there is a candidate still in the race who honors that freedom I will be fighting for them - regardless of whether I believe I can win, but because my love for those who have gone before will not allow me to do any less.
I will check out the link you posted in your text.
Great post.
You are extraordinarily informed, with impressive research sources, contrary to the cowards caving around us, who are deceived entirely, aware of nothing, particularly on the facts and details of the political psychology being employed, with great success on the so-called “no brainer” crowd.
I mean, they are in for replacing a communist with a Marxist/socialist, and call it a “no brainer”.
Thanks, Jedi.
He has forced CAtholic hospitals to perform abortions. You can technically say it’s not against the US Constitution because the US Constitution applies only to the feds and not to states, but you and I both know that religious coercion is against everything this country is about.
When Massachusetts goes full sharia we can talk some more about whether that is Constitutional. Romney is playing right into the game plan of the Islamists. Ahmadinejad couldn’t be more proud.
Thanks STARWISE.
Question to dear lord:
Would you like to see comrade Obama serving a second term in the oval office or having that SOB out of office?
“contrary to the cowards caving around us, who are deceived entirely, aware of nothing, particularly on the facts and details of the political psychology being employed, with great success on the so-called no brainer crowd.”
You give them more credit than I do. The really strident ones do not seem deceived or frightened. They are vicious, aggressive and arrogant. Deceivers rather than deceived, and knowing full well what they are doing.
God bless you for your love of God and Country, at great cost. Morning in America is now replaced with mourning for America. It is our burden and it has been assigned to us by God. We can do this. We can carry it.
Thank you for your rightous anger, your inspirational words and mostly for your right witness.
YOU should sleep well at night, not disheartened entirely, because YOU are defended by good angels and you are not defeated.
Great, great post. Rita.
AS a lifelong republican and conservative I will vote for Mitt Romney. :-)
The both of you are blind to what Romney truly is: he is a socialist, a national socialist, who doesn’t give a damn about the Constitutional rights of this nation’s citizens.
His record in Massachusetts reveals that truth. As to sending the Marxist-Leninist back to Chicago, if Romney runs as the Republican candidate and wins, we will have exchanged one communist for one fascist.
Never forget that the German people supported Hitler because he was going to save them from chaos and it was POLITICALLY EXPEDIENT. My grandfather wrote to his relatives in Germany during the 1930s and warn them of how Hitler looked from outside Germany. Those people were blind and deaf to the danger of a leader with no moral core.
We mustn’t make the same mistake.
I think they are in “flight”, by way of “fright” right now.
I hope that’s it. But with their eyes scaled they can not see. Either they are hendered for a time, or they turn, or as you say, become deceivers themselves.
It’s early panic set in with conservative contenders fallen and the last conservative in the freezer, they are in full panic of Obama. Romney, however, seems to be our test.
In my faith, it is believed to be a time of “Chastisement”, and He is Mercy. All will see, for a time, before he gathers His own. This is greater than Romney and Obama as saviours for either the Right or the Left, isn’t it.
Thanks,
Rita
I have said before on this forum that I dislike Romney intensely, but, on the question of life, Romney is preferable to Obama. Even though Romney (like Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush before him) was formerly pro-choice, I do not believe that he would ever support letting a fetus that survives an abortion die without any medical intervention. That is how radically pro-abortion Obama is!
Stupid question and especially stupid question right now since things haven't played out totally yet.
I'm for Obama out, but Mittens not in.
You want to be a MittBot, go ahead, I'm not and don't think too damn much of MittBots and their GOP-E bullshit scare tactics.
God bless you for your love of God and Country, at great cost. Morning in America is now replaced with mourning for America. It is our burden and it has been assigned to us by God. We can do this. We can carry it.

Amen! Butter, you are a a blessing and inspiration. God bless you ..God bless us and strengthen us all for the days ahead. And .. remember: IT’S NOT OVER ‘TIL IT’S OVER, and our “angel in the whirlwind who directs this storm.” Our prayers are vital. He’s on His throne .. He hears us .. He knows all.
I agree with you. This is a time of choosing between corrupted mirror image Caesars, or God.
Psalm 2. Let it be soon.
Yes. And the time to fight is right now, because we can keep from having to choose between Bad Tyrant and Worse Tyrant. People are acting as if Romney is already inevitable. He’s not, and we need to make sure we have a choice left to us besides Hitler versus Stalin (or maybe Hitler or Neville Chamberlain). We still have the ability to choose Churchill - and if we want this country to still be America when our children are our age, we better get dead serious about choosing Churchill right now.
