Romney, in Chesco: ‘This has been quite a day for me’
The Philidelphia Inquirer ^ | April 11, 2012 | Jeremy Roebuck and Amy Worden

Now it's Romney vs. Obama.

With that in mind and a bruising primary fight finally behind him, Mitt Romney bathed in the praise Tuesday night of a cheering crowd of Chester County Republicans - finally, their party's presidential nominee in all but name.

Hours earlier, Rick Santorum, the former Massachusetts governor's last significant GOP rival, suspended his campaign amid a family health crisis and a growing chorus calls from party leaders for him to drop out of the race.

Santorum's decision, announced at an afternoon appearance in Gettysburg, cleared Romney's path to his party's nomination at its August convention in Tampa and set the stage for what is sure to be a rancorous general election showdown with President Obama.

"This has been quite a day for me," Romney told the gathered crowd at Inn at Mendenhall in southern Chester County. "We'll have work to do ahead of us, but let's all enjoy tonight."

His speech Tuesday night, in one of the suburban "swing" counties that were fiercely contested ground in 2008, also offered Republican faithful here a chance to partake in their candidate's victory lap.

"I knew this was coming at some point, but I didn't think it would come so soon," said Chester County GOP chair Val DiGiorgio, as he scrambled to accommodate an overflow crowd.

http://blog.chron.com/txpotomac/2012/04/rick-perry-congratulates-santorum-for-tireless-and-hard-fought-campaign/

April 10th 5PM: “Anita and I wish Rick and Karen and the entire Santorum family heartfelt congratulations for a tireless and hard-fought campaign. We know the toll the process takes on the candidates and their families, as well as the honor of being in the arena fighting to keep America great and strong. We are keeping their precious Bella in our prayers and we wish Rick, Karen and their family the best in their future together.”

http://blog.chron.com/texaspolitics/2012/04/perry-will-work-for-gop-nominee/

April 10th 6PM: “Governor Perry will strongly endorse and work for the Republican nominee, since our priority must be to replace President Obama and his destructive policies. As a former U.S. military officer and a proud Aggie, Rick Perry puts a premium on loyalty and therefore today remains Newt Gingrich backer.”

We have our leftmost candidate for POTUS.

AGAIN.

God help us all—we need a barnburner had got a tealight. Can he even win? (Nixon, Ford, Dole, Bushes, McCain....now RINORomney?) Our last REAL Conservative did win forty-nine of our fifty-seven states, after all.

Of course he can’t win... unless he can buy the votes of millions of his fellow leftists to take the place of the millions of Conservatives who won’t vote for his sorry, lying, Socialist ass.

Agree, we have once again let the re pub rhinos steal
our opportunity to win the POTUS and chosen a liberal.
What a waste of time and money. Just pushing the country
further into a disastrous socialist country. We are
pretty much screwed. I hope all you Mitt supporters
enjoy another four years of the idiot in the WH. Amen

They won’t learn a thing; when their boy loses big in November they’ll just blame us.

I want the GOP to be afraid and repentant.

Romney is WORSE than Obama. Obama is at least
relatively Honest about what he is doing.

Romney will deliver the same and LIE ABOUT IT.

Romney the Ineligible Backstabber. BYE BYE GOP.

Well, I will say one good thing about Romney: he doesn’t need a teleprompter to lie to us.

Romney is WORSE than Obama.

Then you should have the courage of your convictions and vote for Obama. No sarcasm. One of them is going to be president for four years, and if you really think the country will be better off with Obama, you should vote for him straight up.

B.S! This is not over by a long shot! Newt is riding this thing all the way in and crashing the temple and market place! I believe now he might have a chance of taking this thing.

These GOP-e losers are going to have a real awaking when Newt brings the house down at the convention!

All you people who would rather vote for Romney are such wimps! When would you NOT compromise your principles and vote for a RINO??? At what point are you going to discover the real destruction the GOP-e/rinos cause the party and say enough is enough? The Obama's are always going to be there to defeat because their ideas suck and the American public know it. They defeat themselves! We HAVE to take care of the enemy within FIRST to make REAL change!

Newt isn't perfect, but at least he can beat Obama. Romney even if he beats Obama (which is HIGHLY unlikely) the republican party and conservatives still LOSE!

Take a chance on Newt, he's proven he can lead us out of this mess! ('94)

Time for plan 9 from outer space.

Demand Newt be placed on the ticket with Romney. After Romney wins, impeach him and we have a Newt presidency.

Great idea ... except loser ROMNEY CANNOT win.

He was an economic failure (as governor)
AND he was evil (destroyed the Constitution),
and he is a backstabber and dog abuser.

HOW WILL THAT MAKE HIM ACCEPTABLE TO AMERICA?

Perhaps his off shore accounts?

Or his staying in a Nazi-stolen building in France
which just happened to be later sold ... with profits
to his church?

Romney WAS CHOSEN BY Obama and the DNC.

We don’t have any candidate yet. This is the leftist press trying to convince us that we do. Don’t give in to that. We need to pour our support behind Newt and encourage Santorum to believe that principle and potentially saving the country are more important than having Romney pay off his campaign debts. He needs to ask his supporters to back Newt.

About the ONLY positive to come out of this is that I won’t have to see Romney’s slash and burn commercials here in PA any longer.

They got under my skin in MS as well, and I was not backing Santorum. Willard’s ads were attempting to portray Santorum as pro-abortion. Willard is quite a vicious rodent.

My state’s primary is next month. Guess what? I don’t HAVE to vote for Romney, and I’ll be darned if I will! I’ve waited months to vote for Gingrich and no perfectly coiffed RINO establishment Romney-loving talking head is going to tell me I can’t!!!

(I feel a little better now)

Know what? I have a feeling that in the remaining primaries there is a whole lot of conservatives who feel exactly like I do. It’s one thing to tell us Romney is the likely winner. It’s a whole other matter for him to smirk “This has been quite a day for me” when millions of us haven’t voted yet! What a jerk.
