Because, here in 2012, with black racism utterly dominant, we just HAVE to highlight a dramatization of an incident of white racism from the early 20th century.

It is just so essentially necessary and important.

I love the movie, however it portrays a black man who dies because he is unjustly accused of raping the white woman who tried to seduce him. I really have to wonder is that the best choice for President Obama. At the very least he is not a post racial president, far from it.

Big mistake on his part, I suspect. These days, when I think about “To Kill a Mockingbird” the first names that come to mind are Tawana Brawley and Crysal Gail Mangum.

Americans will react negitively to Obama doing the introduction to a Leftist Race Baiting Propaganda film like To Kill a Mockingbird.

I love this book and I read it with my 11th grade American literature students every year. I'm sure they will be talking about this and I will have to address the situation diplomatically. Every time I read the book I am more convinced that it is a very conservative novel. Harper Lee mocks John Dewey's public school overhaul and Atticus Finch does not get angry at what today would be considered hate speech.

Is this Romania, North Korea, Zimbabwe or the Soviet Union where every aspect of our lives has to do with Dear Leader and Our Great Mother? Everything like this is just another step closer to the inevitable civil war that’ll make the 1860’s look like a Sunday School recital.

The guy is everywhere. Two years ago, a friend and I toured Thomas Jefferson’s home, Monticello. Part of the tour includes a film on the life of Jefferson and a portion of the film dealt with his views on slavery and his treatment of his own slaves. Wouldn’t you know Obama appears in that film? My traveling companion, a diehard Obama supporter, was thrilled. I wanted to hurl.

I have never read the book or seen the film (and my children won’t either); we live next to Newark NJ, and understand the present in stark terms that make the past a far-off fairy-tale. I wasn’t even born when this was made; I feel no “white guilt”. Instead, I live in a town where a lot of current residents fled Newark decades ago because of what was unleashed there; we have no misconceptions about it.

How VERY transparent . . and ya’ll were accusing Obama of not being transparent . . and as viewed through the Saran Wrap, the message is . . “Whitey is RACIST . . always has been . . always will be.” . . . and “If you don’t vote for Obama, you’re RACIST!” . . and, oh yeah, “Whitey ain’t cool!” . . and, “Black is the new white. . “

Are ya’ll gettin’ the message yet?

I remember the 1960s. To kill a mockingbird? Is that where he is pulled out of the car and beat to death? We called 'em Long Hot Summers. Obama is commemorating that?

It's not even summer and he's got it going already.

Shove up your very personal Obama, Obama.

You’d have testified for the prosecution in that trial had it benefited your sorry, well faked career.

Go away, quota baby.

Gee, I thought he’d be much better introducing the “Crying Game” or “The Birdcage”. Maybe a cameo appearance ...

I don’t get this.
If he acknowledge his white side, would they ask him to introduce the movie?
We read it in high school, saw the movie, personally thought it was waaaaay over rated.

Perhaps he should invite Robert Duvall and the surviving actors to the White House for a beer.

Saw this when it cost $.25 to go to the movies. Even then I could sense my money flying away on a worthless film when I could have had 5 Milky Ways instead.

However, I shall put watching it on my To-Do List.....right after mash nuts flat with a sledgehammer.
