Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., endorsed Mitt Romney for president Wednesday night on Fox News' "Hannity," saying Romney offers "a very clear alternative" to President Obama's vision for the future of the country.
Rubio, a young, first-termer who has been discussed as a possible vice presidential candidate, criticized talk of a fight for the Republican nomination on the convention floor, a possibility that is keeping alive the campaigns of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.
"I think that's a recipe for delivering four more years of Barack Obama," Rubio told Fox News' Sean Hannity.
Romney has "earned this nomination," Rubio said, though he again shot down questions about whether he would accept any offers of a spot on the ticket.

Yes, but the GOP establishment has just about purged the party of real conservatives, who are badly outnumbered. The country is just too liberal to consider conservatism: that's what Nixon thought as early as 1960.
The way the PA Yankee won in the South impressed me and he will put to the test whether a conservative running as a conservative has a chance against the GOP-e RINO money and power.
Romney strapped the family dog (in a travel carrier) to the roof of the family station wagon for a 12 hour trip from Boston to Canada. Even his children were screaming for him not to do it...and the dog had diarrhea all over the car.
As an animal lover, this is cruelty bordering on the psychopathic.
IMHO this incident is a good indicator of the depth of Romney's sensitivity to others (which is to say "little or none").
Toomey knows how liberal people in PA really are, and I know James Carville once said most of the state was like northern AL, but Toomey is hedging his bets for 2016. Three is a huge opposition to Santorum from most Republicans, it seems.
I think carville claimed that central PA was like Alabama......only because it’s so conservative.
We’ll see, all I know is Santorum is being trashed by so called conservative newspapers and I really do get sick and tired of conservatives claiming Rick isn’t ‘conservative enough’.
One can imagine the chat the GOP establishment, led by McCain, McConnell and Jeb Bush, just had with young Rubio (in the tenor of Foghorn Leghorn):
“You gotta lotta talent boy. You’re young but you got spunk. With our help you can go places in this town. But you gotta learn to play ball. Be part of the team. See the big picture. Look at me while I’m talking to you boy. Sure Romney’s an empty suit, but he’s our empty suit. He won’t win in 2012. We know that. And when he goes down this fall you’ll be in a great position for 2016. You’ll be our boy, but we need you to take one for the team in 2012. You play ball with us in 2012 you’ll be our star in 2016. Now be a good boy and endorse Romney so we can be done with this meaningless Presidential primary and focus on the Senate elections. Glad to have you on our team boy.”
“No question, the GOP establishment has organized a rallying cry around every influential conservative member in Washington over the past couple of weeks by begging them to publicly endorse Romney”
I think you mean twisting their arms. The establishment only asks nicely when dealing with their fellow crooks.
But even with sellouts coming out of the woodwork, there are a few bright spots. Pat Toomey, for all his other mistakes, has made it clear that he’s not going to endorse Romney. Yes, he recites some of their talking points, but he’s strong enough to avoid giving them the ultimate satisfaction.
Our time ran out in 2010...
Next for GOP leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin
The Republican Party can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
Whut?
The reality is that it's always been that way. You see, the "prominent" people consider themselves to be members of a 'club' (i.e. Party), and as such, at some point they begin to weigh the significance of the situation in terms of what it means to their 'club', ergo... why they decide to join in one direction, regardless of the 'individual'.

I hope Romney picks Rubio for VP.
Santorum was in Gettysburg last week and an enormous crowd turned out for him.
I hope those crowds continue. We have a closed primary, so there’s less chance of hanky panky, and if the middle of the state turns out (failing to do so in 2008), Rick has a shot.
I hate to inject facts into an otherwise irrelevant debate, but ... here goes:
Rubio’s parents are Catholic. The family attended a Mormon church in Las Vegas for three years when they lived there in the 1980s. Rubio was confirmed and married in the Catholic Church. Rubio regularly attends both Catholic Mass and services in a nondenominational church affiliated with the Southern Baptist convention.
More party over principles stuff
You nailed it!
Yep, that’s probably what happened. Another bright, young conservative starts down the road leading to “compromise for the good of the party.”
At some point they all have their price. Even Sarah Palin. The only one I’ve seen so far who seems incorruptible is Allen West, and the GOP is going out of its way to screw him out of his congressional district. Honesty, integrity and independence are a death sentence in Washington. The big parties are all about subservience, compromise and situational ethics.
“I dont want him as V.P. and never bought into the whole conservative fauning over him.”
I’ve NEVER understood the Free Republic fawning over Rubio.....His endorsement of Romney is NO SURPRISE.....This is just ONE example.....Spending taxpayer money right after an election to redecorate his office is another.....(Can’t serve the people in an old fashioned office now, can we?)....The list goes on and on......(Would Palin do that?, don’t think so).......More on corrupt Rubio at the link........Real conservatives in Florida know his record.....He is as RINO as they come......
