CLINTONVILLE - The booming and shaking continues in Clintonville.
Clintonville police say they received about 65 calls Tuesday night, from people reporting three or four loud booms. Officials say the calls came in from 10:35 until 11:40 p.m.
Authorities say the reports came from the same part of the city that has been experiencing the booms for more than a week, but there were also some reports farther west, including Clinton Avenue. Several callers told police that these booms were stronger than those from last week, but no damage has been reported.
City officials have been in contact with the U.S. Geological Survey about the latest booms. City Administrator Lisa Kuss says she called them last night when the booms were reported, she says she plans to touch base with them again Wednesday morning.

Moochelle in Wisconsin??
FYI
Odd. We heard something similar last week in our neighborhood. A series of loud booms that strangely enough did not shake the house or even disturb the dogs and horses. There was a string of these sounds and then silence.
We’re in north Idaho out in the countryside, halfway between Spirit Lake and Athol (the town named by someone with a speech impediment).
It’s just Paul Bunyan chopping trees down in a neighboring state. The Wisconsin people are hearing the noises at night because it takes a long time for the sound to travel that far.
I would think that theory is as good as any at this point....!
Reminds me of the practical jokes between a neighbor of mine and our small town banker. Pranks were going on between the two for years. The banker went to the local dump, picked up a bunch of horns from junked cars, and hid them in my neighbors bedroom - running speakerwire out a nearby window. Around 1am he connected those wires to a car battery he had found by the shed. The horns blared, and my neighbor was running around in his shorts, trying to find all the hornes and turn them off. Quite the great practical joke.
Paybacks ... My neighbor found a piece of culvert pipe, and made a portable cannon, which he laid in the back of his truck. All he had to do was quietly back up the truck behind the bankers house - and fire off a shot at 1am.
As the banker lived in a small town; cannon fire at 1am wasn’t wildly popular - and the pranks came to a screeching halt.
Still, I wonder if the booms aren’t some high school kids with a glorified Potato cannon in the back of a truck, using Propane or some other common explosive material - just going around making a couple big booms every night.
Interesting....I know Vancouver also had them earlier this year as well.
The USGS came in late last week using their latest ground radar and found that there were some quakes earlier in the week that could have explained it. The mayor and them were cautiously optimistic but alas the booms are intensifying again.
One thing is for sure the Town is benefiting by all the attention so maybe it's the whole town's prank?....lol
I don’t understand why no one has recorded these booms yet. Or have they and I have not seen a report on the recording?
Good point.
I know Vancouver’s were recorded and even Costa Rica’s were but I have not seen nor heard anyone posting such from Wisconsin.
Is someone digging a tunnel to a bank, jail etc in that part of town? Wasn’t there a movie that had lots of booms in a town and no one knew what it was till the bank vault was emptied.
Consider, propane is 1.5x denser than air. So, find an underground sewer - run a hose down a pipe to the sewer and let the propane tank run for 45 seconds. Wait another 30 seconds for the fumes to settle, then drop a firecracker down the pipe.
Nice deep underground ‘Boom’. Cheap, probably repeatable, loads of fun.
WI seems to be getting a lot of “attention” since Walkers election and his promised actions.
The majority of the bedrock there is solid granite so if there is any major digging being conducted they would have to have big money....lol
Or are the Mole Men just getting closer to the surface?
Do you have any guesses about what it could be? Anything else odd about the sounds?
Earth song ping!
