(CNN) - If Mitt Romney becomes the Republican presidential nominee, rival Rick Santorum would not rule out the idea of becoming his running mate, the former Pennsylvania senator said in an interview on Monday.
Asked by the Christian Broadcasting Network if he would consider a vice presidential offer, Santorum said he would do everything he could to help the country.
"Of course. I mean, look. I would do in this race as I always say, this is the most important race in our country's history. I'm going to do everything I can. I'm doing everything I can."

I have a hard time with that comment as well, and wish Santorum would clarify or apologize for what appears to be a baseless attack on some poor private citizen who is having enough trouble as it is.
I’d also prefer if Gingrich hadn’t jumped in and asserted that Zimmerman couldn’t have been defending himself under the “Stand Your Ground” law. It is sad when the only candidate who said something reasonable on the matter is Mitt Romney. Paul apparently said nothing, so I give him credit for that.
Santorum sure does like to insert himself into every last little thing, doesn’t he?
I couldn’t see Romney picking him, but I believe a conservative like Santorum would help keep Romney in line.
You ought to know by now that it’s always ok when Newt does it. There’s always a twisted rationale.
