PHILADELPHIA (AP) — I thought my son would be much older before I had to tell him about the Black Male Code. He's only 12, still sleeping with stuffed animals, still afraid of the dark. But after the Trayvon Martin tragedy, I needed to explain to my child that soon people might be afraid of him.
We were in the car on the way to school when a story about Martin came on the radio. "The guy who killed him should get arrested. The dead guy was unarmed!" my son said after hearing that neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman had claimed self-defense in the shooting in Sanford, Fla.
We listened to the rest of the story, describing how Zimmerman had spotted Martin, who was 17, walking home from the store on a rainy night, the hood of his sweatshirt pulled over his head. When it was over, I turned off the radio and told my son about the rules he needs to follow to avoid becoming another Trayvon Martin — a black male who Zimmerman assumed was "suspicious" and "up to no good."
As I explained it, the Code goes like this:

I have no problem with that whatsoever. Nobody respects a doormat. The problem is that too many white folks lost their edge, especially in suburbia.
No, it doesn’t, but the “black culture” is very strong, and pulls black boys to act with a gangsta mentality. That culture isn’t nearly so pervasive with suburban white kids. And the author is cautioning his son not to get caught up in it. Why is that a bad thing?
My understanding is teh guy’s dad is Jewish and his mom was born in Peru, which geographical area was taken over and settled by the Spanish, who are white, hence the Hispanic part; therefore; is would follow that it is wildly inaccurate for you to keep repeating “Zimmerman is not white”, just because he may have some small percentage native-American heritage also.
This is how blacks pass on racism! Zimmerman is Hispanic!
Yep, this one has been very badly distorted by the press & race pimps.
Should it have cost the young man his life? No.
But I doubt the police would have not arrested him, unless there was evidence he was defending himself.
The pic presented by “the family” and published in the press is what has garbled the event.
what mr. dotson says is good advice the fact is though too many young black males embrace the thug lifestyle just down the road in lynchburg, va an 80 year old white man was beaten to death by 3 young black males what has been reported is that they would beat the next person they see (they did not say white person) to impress some girls whaddya think? this happened hours after his granddaughters wedding
The entire issue is not racial.
Its all a matter of young males getting into a pissing contest to show who owns the turf.
What chaps my ass, is whites are being blamed when we are saints about this kind of territorial behavior by comparison to any of the folks in this story.
A few months ago, I was backing out of the driveway and I saw some guy slinking low to the ground by my fence.
I went on RED alert and I was carrying.
I whipped back in the drive way and obviously pissed started to run to the fence with the worst in mind.
The guy saw what was happening and popped up.
I immediately recognized he was the new neighbor that had moved in next door (we had not met) Then I saw the little puppy in his hands and the look in his face.
I de escalted shit fast and apologized.
I introduced myself and asked his name and the name of the pooch (who had run over to see my pooch)
At any rate, my point is that reasonable people can think fast.
I determined in a split second that this was not a threat
I went from there is someone crawling along the fence line on my property to “who’s this little fella” skritchen the dogs ears.
There is another guy that is not from my neighborhood that likes to walk his dog along the fence line and look in folks windows.
This guy creeps me out.

Most can’t. The extent of their fighting prowess is watching UFC matches. They get by on whitey being ‘stereotypically intimidated’.
When whitey happens to be a genuine bad-azz, or even just someone not willing to buy the hype, one of two things happens...your example, or the UFC wannabee pulls a gun.
Sure there are plenty of black thug types that ARE good with their hands. Most are image and nothing more.
Unfortunately there are plenty of white wannabees as well.
Got a few things wrong don't you? For one Zimmerman didn't "run upon" Martin. He lost sight of him and was returning to his truck. 911 tapes confirm this. The kid followed him and attacked him, that isn't "standing his ground" or self defense, it is assault.
Regardless of whether he was pissed off or not, the kid had no business, or reason, to attack Zimmerman. Zimmerman is the one who had the right to self defense, not the kid, since the kid was the attacker, without cause BTW.
The big problem is that there is no “Cosby Show” anymore.
It was a show that portrayed blacks as INDIVIDUAL AMERICANS, not stereotypical blacks like society does today.

I hope no such thing, especially since no one has any control over who ends up dead. Like any war it’s mostly luck. You could end up dead, I could, my beautiful young son...
I’m as sick of all the same things you are and I have been for a couple of decades. But I hope to hell I am WRONG on the percentage of blacks who are full of inculcated hate for evil whitey. If I’m not, then war it will be.
Zimm the nut knew cops were on the way,, so it makes no sense that he would start anything? Yet,, it makes sense that he would get out and start a confrontation?
Neighborhood watch has no business trying to be junior cops except in utter extreme. (where they, like any citizen, can intervene if they see an actual crime)
And if Treyvon should have called 911,, and not tried to defend himself, why doesn’t that also apply to Zimm?
And Zimm,, I believe exited gun in hand. He was already using buzzwords like ‘his hand is down in his waistband’,,, if he was saying such things, it stands to reason that he would have the gun out. Zimm has a poor record of self control. Fighting the cops before, disregarding instructions,, etc.
I think I’ll get a buzz cut for summer

I don’t know, I suppose it depends on who.
The same could be said for some white folk who do it to blacks—are they being racist or weary? *shrug*
I just don’t know, I suppose it depends on the person.
That is where this sorting us all out like crayons keeps us. Until that changes, the rest won’t, in my opinion.
That’s about a 12 to 1 kill ratio motives notwithstanding.
Been there, done that. Have also had knives and guns pulled on me, and stood my ground. Lack of fear on my part and a civil discussion got me out of nasty encounters. Plus they didn't know what to expect next from me.

When I was seven I was sitting on the ground with friend and two black guys from The Savage Nomads gang were walking up the sidewalk. My friend whispered to me: call Robbie a n*****. So I sang in a low voice thinking I wasn’t going to be heard: Robbie is a n***** n*********** n*****.
But they did hear me and Robbie jumped over the bushes, picked me up and pinned me to the wall by the neck. I thought I was going to die but the other one convinced Robbie to let me go because I was a kid.
I was lucky!
