Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.
Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.
"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

The Problem as I see it with Romney is that he will be such a mediocre President that even if he does win he will be so middle of the road as to not upset the apple cart that the economy will not bloom and then in 4 years it will assure that the democrats take back power on the whole meme that the economy didnt recover.
Not to mention any GOP president is going to be so damned hated no matter how moderate they are. Mittens will get so damned gun shy that he will be ineffective and the MSM and the Democrat controlled media will smell blood and keep attacking him even as he retreats and this will paralyze him to what needs to be done to restore the economy and defuse all of Obamas horrible regulatory actions.
Newt is going to be hated like hell anyways and HE KNOWS THAT, but he also knows that he will have the people who put him there behind even if the Media doesnt paint it that way every night at 5:00pm.
So therefore, Newt (who thrives on antagonism instead of flinching from it) will take the bold measures to recover the economy despite being thrashed every night on the MSM news channels. In Four years the MSM will be flabbergasted like their were on election night in 1984, because the man on the street will notice the economy improvement.
Mitt is a Flincher, Newt is a Clincher
Definition of a Clincher:
a decisive fact, argument, act, or remark
Definition of a Flincher:
to withdraw or shrink from or as if from pain
We are so SOL if Either Mittens gets in or Barry gets a second term.
Mittens would only slow things down and then in four years the GOP would be blamed so much but with little to show we would still be in an economic malaise the likes of Carters worst dreams. This would GUARANTEE a Democrat Victory over the house the senate and even the presidency in 2016. They would not be pulling any punches as they would run someone that would make Obama look like a middle of the road moderate. Because they know they would have a very good chance of winning. Not to mention the class warfare game that could be played to Bolshevik conclusion during that election if we get Romney and mediocre performance out of him which is very much likely.
Of course Obama winning would be a very much nothing to lose second term that would see him likely either completely destroying the economy so badly that they play the game of Destroy and Support in that they would destroy the economy and then support the people as the great savior thus ensuring either Glorious Revolution or the mass construction project of making millions more so dependent that they will have a permanent grip on power that would only come undone with Blood sweat and tears, but mostly Blood and Tears.
ABO and ABR, because we really need Newt or maybe Santorum if we get desperate, heck I would even take, heaven forbid (I cant believe I am saying this), Ron Paul over Romney for the reasons above.
So I repeat once more: Newt is the Clincher, and Mitt is the Flincher.
Santorum is an ass.
“Hes saying if you dont give voters a distinct choice, voters will stick with the guy they know”
Unfortunately with his ill-chosen statement, Rick Santorum just cemented the choice for all of us: Romney or Obama.
>> GO BACK TO NEWT AND STAY THERE!!!
LOL, I never left.
Political suicide. Wonder if any Louisiana voters are paying attention?
I think Romney will mold himself to the new reality, and work out just fine. He'll certainly be 100x better than Obama.

I don't like Romney because of his politics, as a man he is generous to a fault. Those around him say he is kind and generous with his time and money. He goes out of his way to help others. I can not fault him as a person, just as a RINO.
He says he is not a socialist, in fact he says he is conservative. He and I probably have different definitions of conservative. If he is any definition of conservative that I have ever seen then it will be a pleasant surprise to me. I hope 5 years from now I can say I was pleasantly surprised.
To stay home or say that any Republican is not better than Obama is just stupid. I realize there are people on this board that believe that. This is the place where you can find more understanding of truth than anywhere in the blogsphere but still that idea is just stupid.
Michelle Bachman should have been our candidate, but I realize that not everybody believes that. That not everybody believes the way I do does not make them stupid. Intelligent people can have different opinions; however, one of us voting for any Democrat or not voting for any Republican shows at best an uncontrollable temper at worst, stupidity.
Hopefully Santorums temper got the best of him and he will modify his remark or correct it or even say he was misquoted. When Michelle dropped out I shifted my support to Santorum. He recently has made some really stupid comments and I realize now that he probably is not quite ready to be president. Gingrich could walk into the oval office and be ready on the first day to go to work but I don't think Newt could ever be elected even though he could make mincemeat out of Obama in a debate. The numbers don't work for Newt even if Romney doesn't get it. A brokered convention will get us someone we won't want for sure. I know it ain't over till the fat lady sings but it is looking like we will soon have RINO Willard for our Nominee. He's not good but he is the best we got for now. I will not stay home election day and certainly will not be voting for a Democrat, ever.
That is exactly what will happen when Romney is nominated. Conservatives will stay home in droves. I really don't know what independents will do, but trust me- Romney cannot win the general election against Obama. He inspires Zero confidence with Conservatives.
I have been saying that from the beginning: as a SOCIAL-CONSERVATIVE (Conservative in most issues with MORAL values), that I would not vote for Romney. I did not vote for McCain, I can do it again.
Romney is a PRO-HOMO candidate and I would not be surprised if the homos themselves are supporting him quietly... You might call it, a way of "sweetening" the GOP...
No, a Pro-HOMO for OHOMO... does not do it for me.
Quit being loose with the facts.
Who did you vote for in 2008? McCain? If so, you support McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy, oppose the Bush Tax Cuts, closing Gitmo, Gang of 14, etc.
Santorum saw a person (McCain) who thwarted Judicial Nominations in the Senate. I think word “detest” best describes Santorum’s opinion of McCain. In a race where either McCain or Romney was going to be the nominee in 2008, Santorum did what he felt was necessary to stop McCain. MANY people here supported Romney in 2008 for only that reason alone.
Rick did not say it is better to “vote” for Obama. He was stating that there is NO difference between the major issues at stake in the election between Romney and Obama. And like Rush has said on numerous occasions, when you present voters with a clear vision and a moderate of the clear vision, the voters will choose the clear vision everytime, no matter if it’s destructive or not.
So why don’t you quit feigning “outrage”. Santorum is 100% correct.
This was over the top.
It’s true. The anti Romney vote should coalesce in case we could deprive Romney of delegates somewhere.
And I apologize for my poor grammar and not capitalizing Newt. Many times I am holding a baby working a mobile device with a finger or two. Some names get automatically capitalized, but mitt and newt don’t because they are words. I am sorry. It is not meant to be belittling or insulting.
Nor do I. Personality cults seem to serve the peculiar needs of the cult members. I support Gingrich, but have as little use for Gingrich's more idolatrous followers as I do for Santorum's or Obama's.
Politicians are always just the hired help. I'll show them respect if they do their jobs well, but that's about it.
This ought to be fun having the Santorum supporters defend.
So you wouldn't support Romney against Obama. So when Santorum might agree with you, it causes you not to want to vote for him.
There is something wrong with the Santorum haters on this site.
GTFO, Rick.
