No, the fight for the Republican presidential nomination is not yet over. But if and when former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney becomes his partys standard-bearer, hell need to look for the right running mate to help him unify the party and breathe some excitement into the Republican ticket. In other words, hell need Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Rubio, of course, isnt the only Republican who could enhance a Romney ticket. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell have some of the right political credentials, and each would be an asset to a Romney ticket in a number of important ways. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum probably has earned consideration because of his presidential run. Two female governors, New Mexicos Susana Martinez and South Carolinas Nikki Haley, are sure to receive some mention.
Of that group, however, Rubio, Jindal and McDonnell clearly stand out.

That was a bad decision on Jindal’s part. Problem is that there are no perfect candidates, every one has flaws and mistakes in the past.
I don't care who is the VP for Obamnee, Obamnee (if he were to win the general election) will call the shots an it be an Obama 2.0 administration.
Anyone who thinks that Obamnee will be any different is smoking too much funny stuff.
Either way, conservatives an the country will loose this Nov.
If your parents are not CITIZENS when you are born you do not satisfy the definition of Natural Born Citizen the Founding Fathers used.
You are an anchor baby.
Jim DeMint!
No way....Paul Ryan. And enough of this Marco Rubio until we take care of his citizenship stuff. Nobody knows if he is even NBC.
Yep!!!
Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley are not Constitutionally eligible. Of course you probably know that already.
“In any case, I dont care who Mittens picks for VP. Im not voting for VP again.”
Me too, I haven’t really ever voted a Republican ticket because of the VP and I’ve never voted for a democrat, but I must admit that Sarah Palin took some of the sting out of the 2008 vote and I was very pleased to be able to vote for Dick Cheney in 2000 and 2004. Dick Cheney was my first choice for President in 1988 but didn’t actually run, I voted for Jack Kemp in the 1988 primary.
Dark horse — Senator Richard Burr of NC. Key points supporting his selection appear below:
A member of the Republican establishment with conservative credentials. 7th most conservative voting record in the Senate. Tight with Karl Rove and the Bush family.
Endorsed Romney in December 2011, before the primaries began.
Family man and church goer. Married to the same woman for 27 years. No hint of scandal.
Solid middle class credentials. Son of a minister. Worked in sales for a company before running for Congress.
Has been reelected both as a Congressman and Senator.
North Carolina is a critical state for the Republican nominee to win. It went for Obama in 2008. The Democrats are holding their convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012. The race will be close and having a native son VP may be enough to move the needle.
Burr will not outshine Romney on the campaign trail. He is a loyal soldier who will do what he is told and will gladly play second fiddle.
Burr was reelected in 2010. If Romney loses, the party will retain his Senate seat.
[ We dont know for certain that Romney will be the nominee. ]
Romney is just the Judas goat to lead all the pubbies down to the chopping block.. next in line are Santo, Newt and the surely Ron Paul..
Most of AMerica is for Barry Half-White.. Negrodamus.. Zerostein.. Captain Socialist... the Obamanoid..
Thats assuming the voting machines are not fixed..
No one seems to care that Obama was a known Indonesian citizen.. passport and everything..
American women know this but say SO WHAT?..
Romney’s not even the candidate yet. Let’s wait for the brokered convention. I hope that the remainder of the states will place romney on the back burner along with his ‘establishment’ pushers, jeb (mexican) bush, gov mcdonnell, bob dull, rino mccain, trump, christie, lamestream media, dnc, zero, etc. We deserve better and we can get it. A lot is going to unfold over the next few months which will dramatically change events. Obama will probably be exposed for the fraud he is. Boehner may become president (God help us). Global events may take over. Let’s be prepared to move against the RNC/DNC establishment corrupt politicos and restore America to its federal greatness. Move centralized power with its inherent corruption back to the responsible states where we can better manage events.
My understanding is that if one’s parents are not natural born US citizens, that person is not eligible to be POTUS.
Is that not right?
Unless the replacement Senator has to be from the same party as the Senator that left.
IIRC, this happened in either ID or WY a few years back; the Rat gov. had to replace the former GOP Senator with another GOP Senator.
Natural born means born in the country to CITIZEN parents.
Right. So Rubio isn’t eligible. That’s what I thought.
Of course, I am not planning on Romney winning the nomination.
A Newt/West ticket would be totally unstop-able, but think perhaps Congressman West might be asked to fill the Sec. of Defense position in the new Republican Administration. :)
Both parents have to be citizens? How in blazes did Obama get a pass? His father was NEVER a U.S. citizen.
No, only he has to be a natural citizen and he is. His parents were legal resident aliens at the time.
That was Wyoming. State law required that the Republican party to submit 3 choices to him and he would pick one.
