Who Else for Vice President but Marco Rubio?
Roll Call ^ | March 20, 2012 | Stuart Rothenberg

No, the fight for the Republican presidential nomination is not yet over. But if and when former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney becomes his party’s standard-bearer, he’ll need to look for the right running mate to help him unify the party and breathe some excitement into the Republican ticket. In other words, he’ll need Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

Rubio, of course, isn’t the only Republican who could enhance a Romney ticket. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell have some of the right political credentials, and each would be an asset to a Romney ticket in a number of important ways. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum probably has earned consideration because of his presidential run. Two female governors, New Mexico’s Susana Martinez and South Carolina’s Nikki Haley, are sure to receive some mention.

Of that group, however, Rubio, Jindal and McDonnell clearly stand out.

The media keeps pushing Rubio, including FOX. This VP pick would muddy the waters on eligibility.

Why would any young conservative politician commit political suicide by running with Mitt?

I’ll have to be some old codger RNC rubber stamp.

Cicero,
You speak the truth..... Conservatives must stay true to the constitution. Those who tout Jindal & Rubio reveal themselves as not truly a constitutional conservative.

That is a dangerous political bomb for any of the people

out there. Once, they tie themselves to a liberal Romney,

his/her career will be damaged forever. Voters gave McCain

a pass strictly for Palin..no more, many are done kissing Gop’ ring.

My guesses:

Rubio. A Republican Enrique Inglesias. Women will love him. Is he Constitutionally eligible? Plus FL has a GOP gov. that would name a GOP replacement should the ticket win.

Randy Paul: A nod to the Ron Paul faction of voters. KY has a Rat gov. I think, so his replacement would be a Rat.

Huckabee: Mittens ain’t winning in the Southern Red states. Huck helps Milt out with that problem. Too bad Huck is a RINO.

IF, Romney were to get the nomination. His VP would be Rand Paul, especially if Romney needs the Paul delegates at the convention. Why else other than his legacy to go on with Rand as the VP would the Paul campaign and his Pac have spent so much time and money attacking those who were only a threat to Romney? The deal would also include Ron not running as a 3rd party candidate. Rand even lied to get on Hannity’s radio show so he could lie about and denigrate Newt. He would certainly meet Romney’s critera for VP as Kentucky is far enough South and he is perceived to be a Tea Party candidate and to be Conservative and he is also a liar and unprincipled.

Balderdash.

We don’t know for certain that Romney will be the nominee. Right now, I think the odds are about 60% that he will be at the top of the ticket. A compromise candidate emerging is still possible.

I sincerely hope Bobby Jindal is not the VP candidate. When his own fundraiser Allee Bautsch was savagely attacked and badly injured by leftist protesters in 2010, he said and did nothing. I want a VP who is brave, courageous, and not afraid to stand up for what is right.

I think Romney would probably want Rubio, who all but endorsed him in the Florida primary and, to top it off, has a Mormon background. Somehow after Rubio’s family arrived here, they ended up in a Mormon hall or ward or whatever, and he was brought up as a Mormon.

The family left the Mormons at some point - supposedly now Rubio is a Catholic, but I have read that he actually goes to a “non-denominational” church in South Florida. However, he’s popular among the Cubans (and devastated Gingrich’s campaign here by attacking Gingrich and supporting Romney) and he’s an excellent speaker.

But I no longer trust him. Anybody who would support Romney, especially in such a way that he had “deniability,” doesn’t get my vote.

In any case, I don’t care who Mittens picks for VP. I’m not voting for VP again.

“Neither Rubio nor Jindal is qualified. Neither is a natural born citizen.”

Actually, it’s their parents who are immigrants. Rubio was born in Miami and Jindal was born in Baton Rouge.

Losing a Senate seat is not an option so Paul Jr. and any other Senator with a rat Governor can forget about it!!!
