Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has the lead in Illinois but lots of voters are still trying to decide in the final days before the states GOP Primary.
The first Rasmussen Reports poll in the state shows Romney at 41% and Rick Santorum at 32%. Trailing further back are Newt Gingrich at 14% and Ron Paul at seven percent (7%).

Has Rassmussen gotten one right yet?
Certainly not any of the competitive states.
The 15 statewide out of 69 delegates are simply chosen by the party and go to the convention unbound. 2 of them are already pledged to Romney, just as almost all the party delegates who have declared their choice across the country are.
That’s a bunch of BS peddled by the Romney bots !
Romney and Paul have the Dems voting for them in all open primaries lime Iowa and NH .
Romney bots started that lie in MI as cover of mittens lost.
It won’t hold in every district.
Santorum will win many downstate districts, and most of their delegates. Where Santorum will have a fight is otherwise Conservative places like DuPage County, and some important districts where he could have won a REPUBLICAN Primary and gotten more delegates, but failed to field any.
He could still win the state. I will say this: it looks like most Newt voters who COULD be persuaded to vote for Rick to beat Mitt WILL do so. This is of benefit to Santorum, because it means the “split” of where Newt voters would go if he wasn’t in the race won’t apply, and Rick will do as well as he possibly could have in IL when all is said and done.
Newt’s been trying to quietly “bow out” of states like this where splitting the vote with Santorum would be devastating due to the winner-take-all style of voting. Problem is as shown in OH and MI, Newt still gets enough votes to give Santorum the loss against Romney.
About the only way we will know, is for it to happen. Even if Newt dropping out were to go Santorum’s way, it won't be enough to turn it around for him.
If Santo does well in Illinois, you can bet it will likely force a brokered convention, and the Prank Democrat voters may likely shock the vote again, like they did in Alabama and Mississippi. Which will go to Santorum’s favor.
Your falling for the left wing psych ops bs.
Romney and Paul have Dems crossing over and voting for them .
In Iowa and NH the exit polling showed that .
This MI bs is being spread by Romney bots and Paul bots.
It’s the usual Romney bot lie and trash campaign .
This is due to rules like winner-take-all, top-2-only, etc. plus the superdelegates who are party members who choose their own candidate. Mitt may have only 40% of the popular vote, but he has over 50% of the delegates. If that trend holds, he'll get the nomination. This is why in a multi-candidate race, voters ought to be able to rank the candidates or score the candidates rather than just pick one. Knowing who a person's second or third choice is is important and should be counted in the vote tallying somehow.
Yet again RINOmney is ahead in a leftwing blue state that he won’t have a snowball’s chance of winning in the general election.
Sorry. I live 2 hours outside of Detroit. I saw the stories on Joe DiSano and Tony Trupiano. I saw Democrats interviewed after they had voted. I saw the campaigns being organized on Daily Kos. It has nothing to do with Romney or Paul. It’s what I’ve seen and read.

The last Laugh might be on you...
That's been proven false about a dozen times already. Romney talking points.
If you really want to give Newt a shot, help Santorum in IL. Newt said it will be a two-man race in IL. That's code to let his voters support Santorum. Newt knows the media will milk it to death if Romney wins IL even though it was never in question.
???. Details please. This sounds very ominous. (big trouble)
It's absolutely true. Fact is, there are really only three counties in Illinois that determine all state wide and federal races because the bulk of the population lives in those three counties.
One is C(r)ook County, where Chicago is.
The second is East St. Louis
I don't remember the third (perhaps someone else may.) Unfortunately these three counties are also heavily DEMOCRAT, so the rest of us who don't live in these three counties are SCREWED by them, and our votes typically never count.
Read “The God Makers”, and “Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters”” and make your own decision.

I voted for Huckabee. He was the only guy in the race besides McCain at that point. It was my last ditch attempt to stop McCain. It didn’t matter. McCain clinched that night, and the rest is history.
Santorum endorsed Romney to stop McCain. There’s nothing wrong with that. I remember people here supporteed Romney in 2008 as well. No, he wasn’t the primary candidate with the vote here seemingly split between Hunter and Thompson, but people did support him. The opposition that year was to Guiliani. McCain sort of came out of nowhere, but people were opposed to him too. He was certainly not the candidate of choice on FR. People preferred Romney to McCain.
