Lawyer: Afghan suspect's friend had leg blown off

SEATTLE (AP) — The U.S. soldier accused of slaughtering 16 Afghan villagers last weekend saw his friend's leg blown off the day before the rampage, his lawyer said Thursday.

Seattle attorney John Henry Browne told The Associated Press that according to his client's family, the suspect was standing next to another U.S. soldier when that soldier was gravely injured.

If he murdered those people then it's on him. I feel sorry for his wife and kid. I feel sorry for his mom and dad that saw their son destroyed and I feel bad for his troops.

As far as I'm concerned there isn't one single muzzie worth any men that were in my squad, platoon or company. If the earth opened up and swallowed that entire area, the world would be better off.

Of course that's just my opinion and I could be wrong. This multiple deployment, the gays in military, the f'd up ROE are all designed to destroy the morale and integrity of the armed forces. I've notice the reserve Army women I've seen (Central Texas) are usually fat, out of shape, whining, and barely up to snuff as far as being squared away. Lots of "anxiety" attacks, back pain, carpal tunnel and bullsh#t complaints. It's turning into one big government job program.

This poor guy and all the others that are being ground up and spit out by our beloved government are just pawns in a huge political game.

My son will NEVER join the armed forces. Unless someone invades Texas I've told him to just pursue other options or careers. I can't wait for the first SEAL/Force REcon/Ranger fag suit for discrimination and quotas for certain preferred groups into the special operator units.

It's coming, it has to. Cause when would we have ever in our wildest dreams, EVER seen this on a United States Marine Corps base...

With every revelation like this, the odds grow stronger that this staff sergeant accused of killing thos civilians is not only going to escape any serious punishment, but is going to have a boatload of medals pinned on him.

It's a harsh lesson for patriotic conservatives to learn, especially on a website where most posters have been ardent supporters of the U.S. military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan ... but never, ever trust your government -- and that includes its military leadership, too.

The military as far as I'm concerned is done. That one photo is the equivalent of the Mount Surabachi photo for Marines.

Show that photo to one thousand 15,16,17 year old boys and tell them that they get to be part of THAT. Who was the CO that allowed that crap to occur. Obama is keeping our troops there until after our election, so it doesn’t go completely to pieces before the election...then will pull out and let the bad guys (or worse guys—Karzai isn’t exactly a “good guy”) have the country. FOUR tours of duty in combat - three in Iraq - two injuries with his foot half blown off. And he gets a Fourth tour in Afganistan? That’s INSANE. Even when were were fighting a global war for our survival against Germany and Japan they had something called “rotation.” This poor guy served in battle nearly as long as the second world war (maybe longer - I haven’t looked into the exact figures)

This is a GROSS miscarriage of command. The officer in charge of his Fourth combat tour - when he thought he was finally going home - should be the one arraigned. But as usual they’ll only screw the troop.

As for the whispering campaign about drinking and marital problems, if you had four combat tours in a row, you’d probably have drinking and marital problems, too.

This soldier had already served three deployments in Iraq and had been wounded several times, including a traumatic brain injury when the vehicle he was riding in was blown up and losing part of his foot in another incident.

The man and his family had been told that he would not be asked to return to the M.E. due to his injuries.
