Newt Gingrich-Brilliant Strategy -- Stay In Race and Eventually Win Nomination
March 14, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

Posted on 03/14/2012 6:08:00 AM PDT by mitchell001

Newt Gingrich has crafted a reasonable comeback strategy considering his predicament and his goals for the country. Here are the cards that Newt has. He has built a tremendous and growing volunteer network. He has the ability to frame the most important issues facing the government. Notice that the media loves to schedule and interview Newt. Also, President Obama and Jay Carney are replying to Newt Gingrich's $2.50 per gallon and oil drilling proposals. As Newt stays in the race, Romney has to spend money on negative ads to attack and bring down both Santorum and Gingrich. If Newt stays in Romney has little chance to garner greater than 30 percent of delegates in each primary. If Newt drops out, there is a greater chance that Romney will knock out Santorum and win. Now, if Romney does not get enough votes to clinch the nomination, there is a chance that Newt's stature will continue to rise, and he will continue to showcase his skills, plans and abilities and will appear more presidential and electable than Santorum. Newt's delegate count may approach or pass Santorum's delegate count. This is the 60 day discussion that will begin at the end of June at the end of the primaries. At that time, Gingrich and Santorum may agree to a joint ticket with one or the other at the top of the ticket. Newt owes this strategy to his large volunteer network and to the country. As time goes forward, more and more Americans will want Newt Gingrich on the National Ticket so we citizens can benefit from his experience, ideas, plans, reforms and doable goals for the country that we love.

Its hardly over for NEWT. The "Win" for Santorum last night, is just that with a 3-way SPLIT of the delegates. Newt still has his plan going forward, and I trust him in whatever it is.

BEST THING: ROMNEY LOST, the establishment LOST. There is our Victory.

A VICTORY too in watching the media GROVEL, what happen, Priceless?

In the end: Newt voters will turn to SANTORUM.

In the end: Santorum voters will turn to NEWT.

WE WIN, one thing we aren't is STUPID. No Way Romney,

I'm still with NEWT.

Newt is taking the “Underpants Gnomes” approach:

Phase I: Stay in Race.
Phase II: ?
Phase III: Nomination!

Didn’t I see reports before that Romney’s father was not a US citizen?

What’s the deal on this?

Are republicans ignoring the 14th amendment too???

I think his wins are over.

Shame he doesn’t see that.

You know it isn’t so much what he says. His problem is his personality. He has very high negatives.

am not sure why Newt lost in AL and MI but certainly voters must have heard his ads there.

Actually no, didn't see a single Newt ad or mailer.

For the last three weeks I kept all my mailers, messages etc. and here is my tally for Montgomery, Al:

Romney - 17 Mailers, 12 robocalls, 15 television ads -- ALL ATTACK ADS AGAINST RICK SANTORUM.

Santorum - 2 Mailers, ZERO robocalls, ZERO TELEVISION ADS. Both mailers were positive position ads just on his views, no attacks.

GINGRICH - zero, zip zilch nada.

Paul - One mailer comparing his positions with Romney, Santorum and Gingrich.

in what amounts to a basic 3 way tie how can you on one hand say it was a “win” for Newt and a “loss” for Romney?

All 3 basically get the same number of delegates. Rick did get the bragging rights.

I see Newt and Rick coming to an agreement and stomping Mitt at the convention.

Then you’ll love a Romney / Rubio ticket. Its smart bc it will 1) help win Florida. And 2) appease conservatives.

Of course as a birther, your head might explode, so I’m giving you some warning to get a helmet before the convention.

;)

Unfortunately, Romney WON the delegate count yesterday. It’s about delegate counts ... nothing more...

“Put on your flame suit.”

As well as flak jacket and blast suit. Merely reporting an election event or simply sharing a political viewpoint is increasingly met with vicious hostility on this “discussion forum”. Didn’t used to be like this.

“Newt will mop the floor with Obama in any debate”

Obama would NEVER agree to a fair debate with Newt. I think there’s a long-standing policy for the two candidates to debate, but Hussein will find a reason to negate that. If it does occur, he’ll be finding the most unobtrusive ear piece thingie for receiving responses by his puppet master(s). Maybe he can borrow Soledad O’Brien’s or James Stockdale’s.

In the end: Newt voters will turn to SANTORUM.

In the end: Santorum voters will turn to NEWT.

I agree. I think it has been been a rather robust primary season and I think this is making both a stronger candidate overall. As everyone says, it is not over. I am psyched about seeing how a convention would work because most of us have never seen one before. I would just like to see the process. It would be a great education for everyone.

>> I don’t care if he wins or loses >>

So you don’t care if Obama gets to appoint two or three more left-wing Justices to the Supreme Court?

So you don’t care if our armed forces are cut to about one-half of their current size?

So you don’t care if our nuclear arsenal is cut to about one-fourth of its current size?

So you don’t care if Iran achieves the ability to erase Israel from the map?

So you don’t care if Obamacare takes full effect in 2014?

So you don’t care if EPA puts more and more crippling regulations on the U.S. economy?

So you don’t care if a growing federal debt transforms the USA into a giant Greece?

If you answer “yes” to even one of the above questions, then I fail to see why you should be allowed to post on FR.

I think this is because the “conservative base” is much less conservative than we thought it was. That is, both Santorum and Romney are big government, nanny-state, big spending members of the GOP establishment, and the only difference between them is that Santorum’s social positions are more conservative. If Santorum dropped out, all of his voters would go to Romney; if Gingrich dropped out, his voters would probably go to nobody or possibly to Ron Paul, who may be a nutcase but is offering an alternative to the GOP establishment vision.

My feeling is that, in the last few years, the voters as a whole (GOP and Dem) have come to accept the left’s Euro-state model for the US and now see a sort of soft-socialist welfare state as the default model.

Newt's “negatives” are a fixation of your imagination.

Watch how any given audience responds to him when he does a debate. They applaud loudly, cheer, and give him unprecedented standing ovations. This is hardly a man with “Personality” problems.

You are like all the rest. You have bought into the Establishment propaganda about Newt, that has been bought and paid for, by THE most corrupt and vile Republican establishment in history. And there never has been such a hateful, nasty, lying and evil Primary election, that can compare to this one, in all of our history

The Establish has spent record amounts of money to stop Newt, because he is the very opposite of what you claim. He scares them to death, because he will not mess around. They know that he would put an end to their RINO charade. John Boehner, Graham, and several others in both houses were behind destroying Newt in the ‘90’s and they are behind it this time as well.

You can go ahead and buy into it if you like, but I KNOW better than that. And like it or not, your candidate is much closer to the Establishment than you realize. And if he gains a position of power again, you will learn that the hard way. Santorum has already demonstrated what I am saying, beyond any doubt.

Newt loathes Mitt.

Oh yes he does. I loved it when he was so respectful to Santorum last night and then went for the jugular in Mitt. It was awesome! I loved it. BTW, I told everyone that Newt and Santorum are friends, but nobody believes me for some reason. I think that Newt actually HATES Mitt.
