“With the perception growing that he will be the GOP nominee, Romney leads President Obama by five points in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. Today’s numbers show Romney at 48%, Obama at 43%. That’s Romney’s largest lead since December. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

If Santorum is the Republican nominee, he is up by one point over the president, 46% to 45%. This is the second time since polling began in 2011 that Santorum has had a slight lead over Obama.”

You have to subscribe to find out who Gingrich and Paul poll. This is a reason to vote for Romney. What reason is there to vote against Romney? Everything else.

Folks, think about it for a minute...

I am not buying the 1 billion dollar war chest. That is even if the shenanigans of money funneled to him from the Middle East like it was last time under the table.

If he has so much dough, why did he go for the Super Pacs?

My guess is more high end Dem's and Wall St types are taking a powder this time.

He might not have all the funds he wants to fight "Candidate X" whomever "X" is.

As much as I think their is a huge sector of America that is for lack of a better term stupid and will continue to pull the lever for him. Even more Americans are living in their parents basement, out of work depleting their 401(k)'s, or are a Union Plumber or Electrician at number 100, 200, or 300 on their list for work, and their are no prospects of work from their Union for years.

The Worm has turned and it maybe on "them" regardless of what "Rassy's" numbers are. It isn't a slam dunk, but their is hope...

“There is ZERO sympathy with $4 gas”

Dems are well aware of this, which is why Obama will not hesitate to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to serve his own evil political ends. By the same token, he’ll keep spending the country into oblivion to buy more votes. I personally don’t give a rat’s behind at this point who beats Obama; just get the tyrant out of office before he destroys what’s left of this country.

Hardly. Romney hasn't been "vetted" by the ObamaMedia yet. When the exposes on magic underwear and such start appearing in the press, Romney's numbers will go south fast.

Brietbart's team says they will vet GOP'ers as well.

I have heard more than one Old Time GOP Veteran's here note: Romney is Nixonian in his tactics, Someone who sat behind someone at a game in Utah noted he is Dirty ( whatever that means ). Rumors? Yes. I shouldn't do it, yes, but DNC/Soro's operatives will be Atilla the Hun compared to what I just typed.

I fear as sweaky clean as the Mitster makes himself out to be, he may have his own pay no attention to the man behind the curtain moment(s).

With that said, having Newt on deck continuing to swing is not a bad thing at all...

“Even more Americans are living in their parents basement”

Many naive and idealistic young people were conned into voting for Obama and are now jobless or working part time in low level service jobs. As an anecdotal case to support your post, the house next to us has had 3 of their 4 kids move back in.

Personally, Gingrich is my choice. But I will vote for Romney in a heartbeat with a smile on my face if he is the nominee. It is a Hobson’s choice and those who make the unwise decision not to vote simply because Romney is the nominee are putting Obama back in office for four more terrible years. Nor will I hold my breath until I am blue in the face simply because the candidate opposing Obama took away some of my toys.

How one who calls themselves “conservative” can even suggest not voting in this election for the Republican Party presidential candidate escapes me. Even the most hardcore radical leftist is smarter than that when it comes to the use of their votes.

Rasmussen always seems to release a poll that makes Romney look good against Obama, just prior to another primary date. Rasmussen can invent whatever number he wants in a Romney vs. Obama contest because he can’t be proven wrong until November. As it gets closer to November, Rasmussen can correct the number to what it really is to make his polling firm appear “legit”. Are Rasmussen’s polling numbers audited or can he just tweak the numbers to make news and prop up a candidate?

Rasmussen’s polls always help push the narrative that Romney is the only one who can beat Obama.

Exactly, and Romney’s News Speak “Drudge Report” will likely make this poll result a flashing siren from now until the polls close in AL and MS on Tuesday night.

And just as expected Drudge makes this poll the top headline. Must be fun to be Scott Rasmussen, who can invent poll numbers 8 months before any votes and make headline news in the Republican Media.

Don’t know if you looked on Rasmussen’s site, but he also had a poll on there that had Obama leading either Romney or Santorum in the battleground states of VA, OH, FL, NC. Hate to say it, but if the Republican candidate can’t win those states, he isn’t winning the election.

Romney at 48%

And therein may lie the problem; Romney has spent the most money, has the greatest name recognition and can't get over 50% against a broken president? Romney is not a commodity that you come to like more as time goes by.
