Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has come under fire after calling a female student who testified at a Congressional hearing on contraception coverage a "prostitute" and a "slut" on his show, but the radio host remains unapologetic for his derogatory comments.
Sandra Fluke, a third-year law student at Georgetown University, first came into the national spotlight when Rep. Darrell Issa refused to allow her testimony during a Feb. 16 House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the contraception mandate included in President Obama's controversial Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Issa contended that Fluke's testimony was irrelevant, "as the hearing is not about reproductive rights and contraception but instead about the administration's actions as they relate to freedom of religion and conscience."
Fluke was later allowed to testify at a separate Thursday, Feb. 23 hearing on the mandate, during which she advocated for contraception coverage and related the story of a classmate who lost an ovary due to a disease that could have been prevented by birth control medication.
After Fluke's testimony, Limbaugh lambasted the student on his radio show following the hearing.
"What does it say about the college co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her?" Limbaugh said. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex."
Fluke has since called Limbaugh's comments "inappropriate" and "outside the bounds of civil discourse."
Members of Congress have also taken issue with Limbaugh's depiction of Fluke.
Seventy-five Democratic lawmakers sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner asking him to condemn Limbaugh and his comments.
"Mr. Limbaugh is as free as any American to speak his mind about the political and social issues of our time," wrote Rep. Louise Slaughter. "But using his radio show as a means for blatantly insulting a hard-working American with obscene and indecent language because he disagrees with her personal choices is an abuse of the public airwaves."
Former Republican senatorial candidate and prominent businesswoman Carly Fiorina also commented on the issue, calling Limbaugh's comments "insulting."
Limbaugh, however, decided to double down on his comments on his Thursday show this week.
"Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here's the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. And I'll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch," said Limbaugh.
"I called it what it is," Limbaugh added. "And, bam, boy, you nail these people with the truth! So I'm offering a compromise today. I will buy all of the women at Georgetown University as much aspirin to put between their knees as they want."
One of Limbaugh's sponsors, Sleep Train mattress stores, has decided to no longer advertise with the radio host because of the controversy.
"We are pulling our ads with Rush Limbaugh and appreciate the community's feedback," the company tweeted early Friday morning.
RE: If this woman is having so much sex that she cant afford the birth control my question is where does she find time to study?
I basically asked the same question in Post #22 above.
And now 0bama calls the fluke woman(Fluke)wtf. As if we don’t have real problmes he should be focusing on?
I DESPISE these people.
Go get ‘em, Rush!
[ Fluke has since called Limbaugh’s comments “inappropriate” and “outside the bounds of civil discourse.” ]
Who the hell gets to define “civil discourse”? This chick really seems to have a problem with the first amendment.
After watching re-runs of Soul Train with a bottle of Night Train, you hang out a little while with young Miss Fluke on your Sleep Train.
Why spit? Swaller.
Plus she announced this with no shame whatsoever as if she wears a badge for being promiscuous. She choose to make this public and by doing so left herself open for what ever any want to call her.
No one is proposing limited a woman's access to birth control, abortions, or sex. To say otherwise is a flat out LIE! For Republicans to bend over and take it time and time again (reminds me of the frat initiation in the movie Animal House) makes me ashamed to be a Republican.
How about Odumbo's latest LIE - "Anybody who tells you that we can just drill our way out of this problem does not know what theyre talking about, or theyre not telling you the truth." It has a double lie first, anyone who believes that domestic drilling will not reduce our dependence on foreign oil must also believe that cigarette smoking does not cause cancer or eating does not cause obesity (and we know where the libs stand on those issues). Second, he does not even define what problem he is addressing dependence on foreign oil, or the use of oil in general. Since its a blatant LIE to state that domestic oil production will not reduce our dependence on foreign oil, then he must be talking about the use of oil in general. So, where do you stand, Odumbo, on the economic growth of America through the use of fossil fuels?? Seems to me that he is advocating taking us back to the stone age, and he is already pushing us in that direction by decreasing the total amount of electrical generation through his onerous regulations that are causing coal fired power plants to shut down. Lets see how we get through the summer with a 20% reduction in total electrical output.
I can spot these LIES, you can spot these LIES, then I must assume that Boehner and Cantor and spot these LIES. I can only conclude that the entire Republican leadership is run by girls, and men are not allowed.
Sandra Fluke testified about a friend/acquaintance of hers who lost an ovary due to an untreated ruptured ovarian cyst. She claims that the insurance company that covers PCOS treatment (birth control pills) would not cover the friend’s prescription because they believed the friend who is a lesbian wanted the pills for contraception rather than for PCOS treatment. Thus, the lesbian received no treatment and lost an ovary. The lesbian bemoaned the fact that she might want to have children later in life and that the loss of one ovary would greatly reduce her chances. Statistically, PCOS sufferers have great difficulty making it through one trimester of pregnancy. Odds are already against this lesbian having a baby ever. My problem with this story is that doctors make a diagnosis of PCOS based on hormone counts and known ovarian cysts. An insurance company would know whether or not PCOS had been diagnosed, and I don’t see an insurance company denying a claim like that without expecting a huge lawsuit. I want to know if this lesbian PCOS sufferer sued her insurance company. Maybe Sandra Fluke could be asked about this by some enterprising journalist. If we are going to talk about women’s health issues, let’s talk about women’s health issues. Sandra Fluke is a politician in the making. She needs to back up her sob stories with some facts.
Seems to me students have sex as frequently as they use the bathroom.....simply a process of elimination.
Times really have changed. When the whole 7th fleet sailed through your bedroom in the past, the slut would ensure the sailor provided contraceptives, not the taxpayer.
They need to come out, and instead of cowtowing to the issue,
call them on it.
This is a manufactured issue. No one is trying to limit anyone’s access to birth control, and the left, and the democrats are trying to gin up some issue as a distraction from their disastrous policies that have led to and continue this economic recession.
The MSM complex is playing semantics.
It's their playing field. Rush just lobbed them a softball.
The problem is that the conservative line "Well, she is a slut!" isn't going to play well with any neutral observer.
I got so wrapped up in my disgust that I didnt finish my initial point. I mentioned to the aide I talked to in each office that it makes me sick that the democrats are using this slut as an example for virtuous young womanhood. They became offended at my language, so I apologized and asked for a substitute descriptive word. They didnt offer one, so I offered that in my church we call a woman like Ms. Fluke a fornicator, would that be better???
We need a federal mandate limiting Rush Limbaugh’s freedom of speech or America is doomed!
She is a 30 year old professional leftwing agitator who only joined Georgetown to force it to change its policy

Notice the lack of continuity. The missing part about how much it costs for her to have sex. It is so sad that even a so called Christian news source omits the facts and tries to brain wash its audience.
And are the one who isn’t right while missing the point. Did he expect you to pay for his love life?
This is the exact same goal as the homosexual marriage jihadists. Once it is a Constitutional right for homosexuals to marry, they will seek out Bible believing Christian churches to demand that they perform their weddings. If refused, the church is gone <*poof*> just like what they are attempting to do with the Catholic Church. If they succeed now, it will not be long before all references to homosexuality, or any immoral sexual behavior, be expunged from the Bible and Torah, and mentioning immorality in a condescending tone will be met with prison time.
Still don’t see why a rug muncher needs contraception. If she’s getting any, it’d be of the latex variety.
