It actually makes some sense for now. If Mitt can’t get the conservatives, maybe he can get the nuts.

Saint Rick is way off on this. I wish he had prepared more for the debate instead of complaining of a conspiracy that does not exist. I still plan to vote for him, but he is making it difficult to do and may be out of the race before I can vote for him.

They sure seemed intent on keeping Santorum down last night...on the face of it, Ron Paul should be a lot more opposed to Willard Romney than Santorum, but that didn’t appear to be the case last night.

While I seriously doubt Paul would be a running mate (who picks the 75 year old guy as VP?). it is actually an intriguing alignment politically. As much as I trash Romney, it may be a very smart move. If the anti-Obama movement and the Ron Paul brigade is combined, that is a clear electoral winner. The Ron Paul base will splinter after he is done...some will still vote for the Republican, and some might even go Dem...but many will sit home on election day.

I can see that. Mitt’s attitude towards the base is “screw you! you aren’t voting for me. I’ll win without you and then I’llscrew you into the turf from the White House”.

Maybe it was just coincidence that Paul didn’t go after Romney.

Maybe Paul is unaware of the fact that Romney has a long established record of opposing the conservative and Constitutional principles that Paul claims to support consistently.

Maybe Paul forgot to go after Romney.

Maybe Paul just likes Romney, all politics aside.

Maybe Paul hasn’t gone after Romney in the past, and he just wants to be consistent.

Come on Rick...you're leading in severaal polls (and I believe deservedly), but this is just sour grapes. Man up. They are coming after you because you have been doing well. Simple as that. No plots.

I do not believe for an instant that Romney will have Paul as his running mate should he win the nomination. Much more likely to offer it to someone like Rubio to try and solidify his weakness amongst conservatives.

If Santorum thinks Paul’s commercials against him look too much like Romney’s, does that mean Santorum will pick Obama as his running mate? Their commercials look the same against Mitt.

Team Santorum need to tread lightly when making such allegations.

Bachmann had problems by making allegations against Team Perry, etc., and she couldn’t back them up.

If Team Santorum has proof, show it. Otherwise, shut up.

This has been going on forever. The only time Paul says anything negative about Romney is when he lumps all of them together. He's beat up on everyone, but never Romney. I suspect Paul thinks he'll have the critical delegate block at the end, and so Romney will be the guy on the other side of the table bidding for his block. So he doesn't want to offend his future buyer. Also Paul remarked last night that the morning after pill is not an abortifacient. Not quite accurate. It seems Paul also claims he is pure as the driven snow on spending, but from what I gather he earmarks, votes against, then runs around the other side of the pork conveyor to pick up his pork that he counts on because he knows others will vote for it. There's a principled libertarian!

I like a lot of Paul’s ideas but if he’s not opposing Romney, then forget Paul.

Paul is a libertarian and Romney is a liberal.

The only difference between the two is one wants to control spending and the other doesn’t care.

Neither has any real concern for social issues, only fake concern during campaign season.

I can see this, and I can see it because it’s Romney’s ace in the hole at a brokered convention if it gets to that.

It hardly takes a conspiracy or a “deal”.

Mitt Romney attacks Santorum because he is the biggest threat to his nomination.

Ron Paul attacks Santorum because Santorum is an easy target for Paul's “bloated government” one trick pony show.

How specifically does the heinously big government RomneyCare square with Paul’s alleged small government economic brilliance?

Whatever deal has been made, it was not for Ron, but Ron’s son, Rand.

There you have it. A Romney/Paul ticket would be the worst thing imaginable for conservatives. If that happens, we lose everything.

This is the kind of thing that someone like Sarah Palin can insinuate without actually saying. Sometimes when she uses that purposefully ambiguous language it drives one nuts. I can see why it is necessary these days with the way the MSM picks up a sound bite and won’t let go like a puppy with an old slipper.
