New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the top choice of Republicans if the party nominates its presidential candidate at a "brokered" convention this summer, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday.
Mr. Christie is favored by 32 percent of Republicans, followed by former Govs. Sarah Palin of Alaska and Jeb Bush of Florida with 20 percent each, the poll found. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is fourth at 15 percent.
Some conservatives are contemplating a so-called brokered Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., in August, in which none of the current candidates would have gained enough delegates to win the nomination and the party delegates would be free to nominate someone not in the primary race. Respondents in the Quinnipiac poll were asked to choose a candidate who's not in the current field. Mr. Christie has endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
The poll showed that 48 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning independent voters believe it would be bad for the party to engage in a brokered convention; 37 percent disagreed.

Christy criticized Santorum the same day he appointed a Gay judge to the NJ Supreme Court. What a load of Mitt.
I do not understand the dislike of Christie. I really like him. But...he has said he does not want to run now. That is a deal breaker. If he does not want the job, what kind of job would he do? And why do we keep asking him when he has said he is not ready. He is being honest. I respect that. I wish someone would explain to me why so many do not like him.
Christie’s a chump, this is just the establishment (remember folks, it’s the globetrotters vs generals here) trying to push an alternate candidate.
What a revoltin’ development!
Romney, Christie. Aren’t there any REPUBLICANS (as opposed to guys who couldn’t get Democrat slot) running?
See post 57.
You prefer that RINO bastard Santorum? It’s Newt or it’s not.
The movies Wall-E and Idiocracy have come faster than expected.
Thank you.
I have no problem with his personality. It is his positions on the issues that I have big problems with.
He does not support the second amendment. He wants to take guns from people.
He likes doing things for Muslims.
He believes in the fake science of Global Warming.
He wants a path to citizenship for illegals. He supports illegals even after they committed that horrific murder of those students in his state.
The main problem I have with him is that he is a liberal. He is probably the perfect republican for New Jersey, since it is a northern liberal democrat state, but he would be awful for the rest of the country. He’s just too liberal.
No.
Sorry, Christie.. I crossed you OFF of my list the moment I heard that you ordered our flag be flown at half mast for the death of Whitney Houston. You have forever changed that special honor for our heros to now include rappers and actors. Fear of being called “racist” has resulted in decisions which LOWER THE BAR from here forward. 0bama uses his ethnicity to willfully deconstruct America and he’s succeeding because everyone’s afraid to challenge him.
Flag at half mast for Whitney Houston didn’t alienate you?
I’d be OK with that if they put Newt on the ticket as VP. About one month in Christie would eat one jelly filled too many and keel over. Then after a full state funeral for the big guy Newt could get down to the business of restoring the constitutional republic.
It will be WAR if they try it and I will be there if they do.

They going to stick us where the sun doesn’t shine any way they can. Its either Mittens or a brokered convention with another RINO. Time for 3rd Party results be damned
Christie has great press and zero vetting.
He’s an typical east coast liberal republican, and as soon as the conservative base knows that he will plunge to Romney levels of support.
He is Romney’s mini-me
**** christie and this is why!
