Trump Takes Hatchet to Santorum
FOX 8 Cleveland ^ | Feb 20, 2012 | By Gregory Wallace, CNN

Donald Trump demonstrated Monday that he has no qualms about going after one of Mitt Romney’s chief rivals, Rick Santorum.

“There’s nothing — there’s no gift, no Christmas gift, that could be given better than Rick Santorum to the Democrats,” Trump said in a radio interview which aired in Michigan. Democrats, he continued, “are just salivating at that. And, you know, I don’t think they believe it’s going to happen. But boy, would they like it to happen because that would be an easy election.”

Trump's income depends on gamblers.... NOW if ‘government’ policies decreases the amount of play money in the gambling houses, that hits Trump's bottom line....

So Trump hitching his gambling operation success to Romney instead of Obama, Santorum, or Newt tells US what we need to know about Romney. AND Santorum is more the protect the UNION minimum wage kind of politician. I can only guess UNIONS are traditionally associated with a particular brand of religion.

Santorum will fall below Ron Paul when the truth on his votes and positions becomes well known.

I am amazed at the huge number of people that call themselves pro-life, and vote for any democrat or “moderate” republican who is pro-abortion.

People can so often take a bribe and vote for the candidate that blesses them (healthcare, medicare union-friendly), and overlook the “little” issues, like abortion and same-sex marriage.

I find that horrific, and really is the reason why we are in this terrible mess to begin with. Some people cannot stand up for Godly convictions, but will easily vote for whomever gives them the goodies.

Santorum is responsible for his own past moderate, big spender record. We did not just recently dream all that up for ourselves.

It’s one thing to argue that Santorum is a political moron, but Santroum him self, continues to open his big mouth and remove all doubt.

I was thinking that his past record would not have nearly the effect, as him constantly posing in his Sweater Vest and selling his “Mr. Rogers” look.

I agree with you about Santorum’s penchant for big-spending projects and silly tax breaks for manufacturing. I wish he would make a clean break with his past and offer a bold free market plan.

On social issues, Santorum is actually quite articulate and thoughtful. Liberals — because what he says about family values makes them feel guilty deep down inside — can only respond that he is extreme and mistake-prone. Just like what they said about Reagan :-)

I call it willful ignorance, taught in most houses of worship. God called homosexuality an abomination and even foretold that coming generations would be worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. Some pretending to be 'conservative' ignore all those IFs God said would be IF people ignore him. Trump like any typical rich guy is going to do whatever he needs to do to keep gamblers in the cash to keep him in business. But he is really no different than the average 'rich' so called conservative mouth piece. Con-men are a dime a dozen and 'wealth' protection using the political class is nothing new. Ultimately God is doing the sorting, but He did give an instruction manual for those of a mind to take heed.

Today the biggest con-man on radio was carrying Santorum's water. As much as I will relish the day when the Heavenly Father turns Obama's jaw, I will relish the same attention to the hypocrites on the right that are only concerned about their bottom line using 'values' as the hallmark.

You sure do have it down pat when you want to criticize the leader that has the best chance of taking Romney down, don’t you. You’d have to be a blithering idiot to realize other people have negatives far above those Santorum has. And you’d have to have no conscience at all, to think it’s reasoned to see one guy pounced on continually here, while another gets a complete free pass.

At 11% we can’t address reality.

At 35% we can.

Wow. Nice to see everyone’s true motives in the sunlight.

Romney, as long as Rick Santorum is your biggest threat, some folks on Free Republic will help you all they can.

Tell me Psycho-Freep, since Newt has apparently lost to Romney, how does it feel to know you’re Romney’s confidant on FR taking Santorum down for him?

No he won’t, because people don’t find the positions the other two have taken over the years too special either.

It is hard for the other two pots to call the kettle black.

Santorum continues to harp on his inconsequential Social issues, while the real issues that matter, and which Santorum is not even close to being capable of solving or fixing, rage on unchecked.

One good illustration of that point, is Santorum’s recent pipe dream, calling for the elimination of all corporate taxes to manufacturing, leaving all other forms of business to pick up the gap. What this also illustrates, is the fact that Santorum sees any such solution through the eyes of a Big Government, big spending, Union loving Washington insider, Lobbyist stooge.

Did you just step off of a turnip truck? If you recall, Newt was the front runner, and had 40% support up to a month and a half ago. It was a stroke of very bad politics from the millions spent by Romney on attack ads that Newt did not have the resources to fight.

Santorum was not viewed as a threat and enjoyed immunity. Now that Santorum has taken the lead, It's not a matter of taking him down so Romney can win, it's a matter of getting a candidate who can beat Obama. Santorum just has no appeal to the Apolitical class of voter in America.

35% popularity among primary voters and hard core activists, is a far cry from winning a National Election among a highly moderate to liberal population that is also hopelessly secular.

Social issues are inconsequential? American has a 50 percent divorce rate, 40 percent unwed motherhood, slackers avoiding work, fatherless kids rampaging through our neighborhoods. Churches crushed by the bureaucratic diktat of HHS health czars and brutal equal opportunity offices.

Inconsequential?

Meanwhile, the real heart and passion against Obamacare is with the social conservatives — the brave bishops and evangelicals seeking to preserve RELIGIOUS rights.

The libertarians — with no organization and no spiritual values — are weak and disorganized in fighting Obamacare. Libertarian materialists like you are no better than the godless French.

Actually you are incorrect. Nobody in any other state that hasn’t had a primary yet saw Romney attack ads about Newt.

Newt brought himself down with that goofy video and attacking Romney from the left. That scared people about him. Then he wins SC and goes out to declare himself the nominee and calls for others to get out of the race after he wins only one primary race.

In Florida he talked about moonbases and kosher food. When he loses Florida, he does a snarky presser that turned even more people off.

Character counts, and how much grace a person has and an ability to not get caught up in revenge tactics is the mark of a winner.

It is still possible Newt could come back. But it is doubtful.

Did you just step off of a turnip truck?

No, and to set the record straight, I didn't have one fall on me as you seem to have.

If you recall, Newt was the front runner, and had 40% support up to a month and a half ago.

Yes he did. But if you'll recall, tens of people have been kicked off this forum for mentioning negative information about him, because it was important to defeat Romney at all cost. Now folks are trashing the guy who leads Romney as if it was an imperative to do so. Why? What's driving you folks? I can see Romney and the MSM trying to take Santorum down, but you folks? If it was as important to beat Romney as you folks said it was, it would still be important to do so, and you would still be supporting the guy with the current best chance of doing so. And yet here you are posting anything negative you can dig up on Santorum. You are acting as the DNC, MSM, White House, and RNC errand boys. Again, why? Whose side are you on here, if not Romney?

It was a stroke of very bad politics from the millions spent by Romney on attack ads that Newt did not have the resources to fight.

Excuse me, but Newt is a wealthy man. You didn't know that?

Santorum was not viewed as a threat and enjoyed immunity. Now that Santorum has taken the lead, It's not a matter of taking him down so Romney can win, it's a matter of getting a candidate who can beat Obama. Santorum just has no appeal to the Apolitical class of voter in America.

So anotherwords, a guy who hasn't the funding to take Santorum and Romney down, non the less does have enough money to take down Obama. That's some fairly amazing critical thinking there.

Romney is the closest person we have to Obama. The other guy you seem to be infatuated with, is now drawing about 11%. Romney is out-polling him by between 100 and 200%. Unless you want Romney to be the Republican nominee, you need to think about what you are doing.

35% popularity among primary voters and hard core activists, is a far cry from winning a National Election among a highly moderate to liberal population that is also hopelessly secular.

So anotherwords you're admitting that Santorum is more appealing to Conservatives, but you think we should pick a candidate that is further left so we can appeal to the public at large? Where's the RNC(c) label that should accompany this kind of post?

Santorum is no Chuck U. Shumer, that’s for sure. Or Harry Reid or Rahm Emmanuel, or any of the other leftists that Trump helped finance.
