Newt Ping!
Please include me - Newt Ping
Is he going to put his money where his mouth is and bow out and endorse Rick so the strongest conservative can battle Romney head to head? He’s been calling for that for weeks now.
I don’t anticipate that Newt will win the straw poll because the voting commenced early.
Santorum spoke early this morning and Romney spoke a few minutes ago.
Newt’s speech is already reported to be packed, standing room only, overflow. Likewise for Romney’s. Like Romney, Newt Gingrich will speak in the Main Ballroom.
It will be 1:10 Pacific Time.
Thanks for posting. I had not been able to find out when he was speaking today.
Right! Woo-Hoo!!!
Newt will bring the house down!
From what I recall reading about the last CPAC these straw polls are a complete joke. The Ron Paul bunch get in there and vote early and then the polls close.
Dumb, dumb, and super dumb.
Besides the many, many ballot and delegate problems that Santorum faces here on that prevent him from being able to win the nomination, there is a little matter of staying power vs. bump.
Santorum has twice now had bumps. The first one subsided within a week to ten days, and he went back to his near permanent numbers of 11-15%.
Newt has been hovering in the mid to upper 20%s for a long time now. That’s staying power and support. Outside of the bump he gets after winning caucuses when he’s untouched, Rick tends to hover at 10%+ lower support than Newt.
If Santorum can maintian his bump for a full month until Super Tuesday, he’ll have some claim at being a legitimate alternative to Romney. For now, I expect he’ll soon see the same fallback he saw after Iowa. Whenever people are actually paying attention to him and challenging him, he fades.
It is not time for anybody to get out. Why don’t we see where we stand on March the 6th.
Raw vote totals:
Romney- 1,119,298; Gingrich- 838,352; Santorum- 430,787; Paul- 305,840
Delegate count right now:
Romney-90, with 17 non-binding
Santorum- 44, with 41 non-binding
Gingrich- 32, with 3 non-binding
Paul- 13, with 5 non-binding
Total Delegate count needed to win- 1144
Thanks for posting these figures.
Oh darn. That’s when I need to go back to the kitchen for more coffee, and then I’m scheduled to take out the trash.
Oh well...
I honestly didn’t know Newt was doing that bad. Yikes.

OK, I’ve donated twice, have Newt bumper stickers on the cars and fully support him. That being said, Newt has to get away from “college history lectures” when he’s speaking. He also has to expand on the specific things he’s going to do....I know, he mentioned repealing laws, etc. but I’d like to hear more specific language...ie, that he’s spoken with Stephen Harper and will enact Keystone if elected. How much does he expect to lower the deficit in his first year. Is he willing to give educational vouchers that could be used in private schools? Don’t need to hear about accomplishments in the past...we know them, and they were good. What specifically will he do to stimulate the economy? Stay on offense...the moon isn’t our first priority. How will he fix our healthcare problem? He needs to hit it out of the park. He sure could use Sarah Palin to improve the likeability index. GO NEWT!!!
In the worst way, I do not want to make enemies on FR, but I guess it was meant to be.
I will continue to support Newt until or unless he decides to drop.
GO NEWT GO—its about the survival of our country!!
