Dumb, dumb, and super dumb.

Besides the many, many ballot and delegate problems that Santorum faces here on that prevent him from being able to win the nomination, there is a little matter of staying power vs. bump.

Santorum has twice now had bumps. The first one subsided within a week to ten days, and he went back to his near permanent numbers of 11-15%.

Newt has been hovering in the mid to upper 20%s for a long time now. That’s staying power and support. Outside of the bump he gets after winning caucuses when he’s untouched, Rick tends to hover at 10%+ lower support than Newt.

If Santorum can maintian his bump for a full month until Super Tuesday, he’ll have some claim at being a legitimate alternative to Romney. For now, I expect he’ll soon see the same fallback he saw after Iowa. Whenever people are actually paying attention to him and challenging him, he fades.

Thanks for the heads up. Allen West comes on at 3:20 and he will be great too.

My tongue was planted firmly in my cheek as I typed that post but the fact of the matter is that FL killed any chance that Newt had of being the nominee.
