One of the most influential evangelical leaders in the United States says Christians should go to jail rather than comply with the Obama administrations mandate to provide all contraception, including abortion-inducing drugs, in their health care plans.
Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Conventions Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), told LifeSiteNews.com we will not comply with the Dept. of Health and Human Services mandate requiring religious institutions to cover abortifacient products such as Plan B, Ella, and the IUD.
We want the law changed, or else were going to write our letters from the Nashville jail, just like Dr. King wrote his from the Birmingham jail, Dr. Land said.

I agree..
His campaign has made a concerted effort to ignore the middle class voters and focus on milking money from the special interest groups and making promises to constituencies to ensure they turn out.
This upcoming election cycle will be a scorched earth campaign that might end-up tearing the very fabric of our republic. Obama and his ilk see the constitution as a roadblock.
I am not a follower of the evangelical movement, or the Southern Baptist Church, but Dr. Richard Land is a familiar name to me. I've heard it several times.
You obviously aren’t a Baptist from Texas if you havent heard of Dr. Land.
Obviously I’m not a Baptist from Texas and, no, I’ve never heard of him.
Well it’s not a big deal but that’s why I sent a copy of his bio for you. Wasn’t trying to make you feel bad about it. I can see where people haven’t heard of him because he is not on traditional TV/Radio often.
In any case, he is well informed and quite articulate. I’m confident you would like him if you heard him.
He and I would not jee-haw on many issues, but I'm with him on this one.
Life, liberty and the pursuit and destruction of totalitarians.
We’re here, 2012. VOTE THEM OUT! We the people still can you know.
I LOVE solidarity!
Thank you so much for the ping!
Have you ever heard of A.F.R. Talk Radio? Ever heard of A.F.A.
If not, that is your problem. This Richard Land is really good, and you can wake up now!
B.S. on that!
False statement.
I think this is a further manifestation of his narcissism. He has already found ways to subvert, ignore, or violate the Law of the Land, and now he's going to take on God, as represented by the Church, along with all others who will stand against him.
That Muslims get an exemption because they are opposed to gambling (insurance), but none is forthcoming to those who devoutly believe abortion is murder shows a disconnect, not only between the application of law to religions (in effect 'establishing' Islamic tenets as legally superior to Catholic ones--a violation of the establishment clause), but also demanding that Catholics NOT follow their faith, thus interfering with the "...free exercise thereof" clause as well.
He's forgetting: These rules against murder were made by someone above his pay grade.
Don’t worry Rev, once O’Bummer has played this thing for all the lefty contributions that he can, he’ll back off.
That way he gets the best of both world. Campaign $ (always kicks up when traditional institutions and Republicans are being harassed by Dems) to start off, then the return of religious voters to the Dem fold once Obama “steps in” and waives the birth control mandate as Election Day gets closer.
Your loss! The question is, what are you going to do about it? Dr. Land is on the radio, writes articles... It is up to you to make the next move.
Richard Land is a warrior of our Lord on Capitol Hill. He is well respected by all, though some hate his position. This is another reason I choose to be a Southern Baptist. For more check out the So. Bapt. Conv. Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission web site (Dr. Land is the director)

Haven’t seen all that many who do know him. As I wrote I’m not knocking him I’m just saying that the media often say things like ‘most influential’ when evangelicals don’t know the person. I’m an evangelical and I don’t know him. I’m sorry if that upsets you. I can’t help that.
The only way I’ve ever heard of him is because hes a good buddy of Glenn Beck and others have mentioned the connection...
If I remember correctly he was on the stage at the 8/28 thing of Becks hugging the Moslem Imims as brothers...
so now you know...
O.K. sorry. I just don’t know what I would do without nationwide A.F.R. Talk Radio started by Don Wildmon. (Have you ever heard of him?). Dr. Richard Land does a political talk show on Saturday afternoons: “Live with Dr. Richard Land”
He is great! (His voice reminds me of Britt Hume.)
Never heard him on Beck and I would have to see proof of your other statement. I believe it is false!
Obviously, you have never listened to him. Are you a troll?
