Daniel Karson, chairman of business intelligence and investigations at the security firm Kroll, says if you are abducted its important to remain calm and do as your kidnappers say.
Do not resist, do your best to maintain your composure. If it is kidnapping for ransom, chances are good youll at some point, youll be exchanged, he says.

How did that advice work out on 9-11?
Always fight back! The sooner the better! Don't let anyone tell you that you should just lay down and take it.
Your??
Really?
Did I miss the part where it said, “Pull out your concealed weapon and fire it at the center mass of your kidnapper?”
I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
Better to die right there, which probably won't happen because kidnappers are cowards. If things don't go their way, they will scurry off like rats.

My S&W 500 begs to differ.
If you are kidnapped and taken like Elizabeth Smart, and walked across a field, lay a trail of pee down along the path, just every so often without the knowledge of the kidnapper. Great trail for the dogs.

Yeah, it seems that no hostile situation ever gets better the longer it goes one. Nip it in the bud.
People who give you that kind of advice are those “authorities” with a vested interest in maintaining a complete monopoly over defensive force. They are a pestilence on society, what they promote brought us 9-11 and made a Connecticut doctor into a traumatized, childless widower. May God have mercy on them.
That's such a common error and a testament to our "fast food" mentality society. Phonetics. I've been guilty of making that same typo.
However, I would say to fight with all your worth to keep any scumbags from snatching you, but I've never been in that situation--thank God.
Absolutely! Make a fuss, scream, make it very difficult for someone to carry you off but don’t give in and let them stuff you in a trunk.
“First, he says, dont dress like an American. Lose the baseball cap. If you are wearing jeans, a sweat shirt with the name of an American college on it and Nike sneakers, youre advertising yourself as a Westerner.
Karson advises to travel in large groups, don’t go off the beaten path and hire a reputable local guide who speaks the local language and, if needed, can negotiate on your behalf. And he says, no matter where you go, never leave home without a flashlight, GPS phone, and if you have a medical condition, a supply of your prescription drugs. Leave another supply of your prescription drugs secured in your hotel room along with a copy of your passport.”
Or, don’t go to countries with a large Muslim population.
Have you ever read
The Ransom of Red Chief?”
Rule #1 — Don’t allow yourself to end up in their car. Odds of dying dramatically increase if you get into the car/trunk. Run or fight — these options increase your odds of survival. Meekly doing what the bad man wants is just suicide.

I’m sure it’s in the article somewhere.
If every passenger on the bus being hijacked pulled out a handgun and shot back, there would be a lot fewer kidnappings, even in Muslim countries. Of course, our president would probably try to prosecute the shooters for hate crimes or something. At a minimum, the shooters aren’t being good sports.
I’m with the rest of the survivors here.
Kill them then dial 911 and ask to be transferred to the cleanup dept.
Or a country that has a high density of drug cartels.
