Komen for the Cure just released the following statement from Nancy Brinker and the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors:
We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.
Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.
Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer. Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.

Grievous.
You didn’t answer the questions he raised, however. Would it be okay to kill you after finding out, years later, that your conception was the result of a rape or incest? And would it make your life any less valuable?
Mrs. Prince of Space
It was definitely too soon to donate. We had to be sure they were doing it for the right reasons and we could trust them. They showed their true colors very quickly and proved our doubts were correct.
I would choose life.
It's still a precious baby, no matter how he was conceived. That is of little importance to that baby. That baby will fight to live even under the most harrowing medical circumstances. Shouldn't we give him that right?

There are other charities out there who don’t fund abortions.
I had a cancer scare last year, yes, in my chest, yes, Susan Komen related, I defintely donated money last year
never again
Please see post number 147. Thanks!:)=^..^=
So, after their fund raising increased by 100% (read: they’d raked in the dough from those folks who want to help others but not kill babies), they had a convenient change of heart and decided to use all that newly found money on the very same projects those who gave it find so abominable.
Yep, sounds about right. Welcome to Barry’s World.
Did you or anyone else get an email from an pro-abort newbie?

Komen was right to reverse course. Having an abortion is a decision that should be made between a woman and her doctor. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STAY OUT!

Sorry to post your Freep mail like I did, but if you would like to explain your views on abortion, you should do it in this open forum.
Yes, she’s in my inbox spouting the usually abortion-rally sign slogans too.
The pro-aborts are freaking out over this. Good.
OregonMom banned.
They should call and demand a refund. This was fraud.
Thanks for the heads up. In the future just forward the offending FReepmail to the mods.

I got the same email.
Awww.
And she never even got to post even one reply.

I will.
I should know this, but let me ask.
Is it OK to cut/paste FReep mail to the forum? Assuming it’s not profane.
I mean, after all, it in MY inbox. But what is the official FR position?
