Komen for the Cure just released the following statement from Nancy Brinker and the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors:
We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.
Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.
Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer. Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.

Interesting how nowadays these people find funding only by trickery and theft. It’s the new fad that Obama is leading and the economy is going to hurt as a result.
I never paid much attention to who was running Komen - I guess because I didn’t care. I’ve known for awhile they had an alliance with PP, so I wrote them off.
The women I personally know who LOOOOOVE them? Well that’s a different story.
These are nice ladies. Christians.
They simply didn’t know.
Now they do.
This is about to get extremely interesting, and it has sparked an unexpected battle between liberal pro-death women and pro-life, independent-republican-conservative women.
It’s always funny to see the liberal chicks’ reaction when they get challenged. They just don’t know how many of us there are.
While excited at the prospect that that they wouldn’t be funding Planned Parenthood, I was a bit disheartened by the way they had worded their decision. They didn’t say they would no longer fund Planned Death because Planned Death takes the lives of unborn children. That, to me, would have indicated they had truly woken up. Rather, they said they wouldn’t fund Planned Death because Planned Death is under investigation, thus leading me to believe they would resume their funding after the investigation. I was hoping, however, that they would see they could get more donations during this period of time and decide not to go back. Alas, the pro-death machine beat their drums and threw an epic tantrum at the fact that Komen would no longer be funding an unborn child murdering outfit like Planned Death, and Komen, who was likely going to resume funding post-investigation anyway, caved like a house of cards.
What astounds me is how anyone could ever think of Komen as anything other than a PC-leftist slush fund. Breast cancer? Gimme a break, it was always about the money.
Most of you are missing the point...
Komen is back in the fold now. They are politically-correct again. All is well in the world.
The media will trumpet them for this “Brave!” decision, and Oprah will pimp for them. And the sheeple will still send them tons of money, because the magic talking box in the living room they stare at all day tells them it’s OK.
actually, I think your local diocese would be a good bet. For hundreds of years they were the force behind the great medical schools and hospitals in this country, and did a fine job of it.
If a child was conceived in incest or rape, how is that the child’s fault?
Why does the child have to die becuase of the sins of the father?
If you belive in Christ you cannot support abortion for any cause. If you don’t than anything goes since you’re just kind making it all up as you go along.
I don’t feel sorry for them. Didn’t do their homework. Komen continued to admit they were still funding some PP the whole time.
I will never fund another KOMEN event as I have in the past. I will not fund any organization that funds hate-filled leftwing baby butchers.
I wonder if Komen funds research into the hypothesis that abortion can increase the incidence of breast cancer????
EODGUY
Komens decision to initially stop its contributions to PP was a calculated ploy to increase contributions to Komen. Once contributions to Komen increased 100 fold, Komen reverts back to contributing to PP. A simple marketing ploy, nothing more.
Most of these organizations are scams, IMO, anyway. They raise lots of money, but if any of them have actually contributed to research that has gotten us closer to a cure for cancer, wouldn’t they be trumpeting such news?
There is a website that rates charities in terms of how they spend their money in terms of putting it toward the actual goal. Komen, IIRC, is around 60%, so that 40% is going to what? Salaries, their stupid events, and all those annoying pink themed product pushes.
How much money would they save, I wonder, if they did not try to make all of the participants in their events feel so “special” with the t-shirts, the headbands, the tote bags, etc.
I am sure that the woman who started the whole thing had the best of intentions, but I have to wonder about the people who run it now.
funny how the establishment tells us social issues are not be be spoken because they are not important
The MSM tells us the same but bloody ell go after one of their pets n the social scene and websites get hacked, death threats happen, Dems in power use their power and corruption, Bloomberg gives a quarter of a million
Yea social issues are not important ARF.
It should have read: saving already born women’s lives.
Give the pink back - to the babies.
And done in the USA!
Not surprising. Komen is an ultra-leftist org anyway. I didn’t think they would ignore their constituents.
