Due to bias shown by Matt Drudge I pledge to boycott the Drudge Report. Please pledge the same if you feel so inclined.
Free Republic is a link on Drudge.
“It’s a hit multiplier designed to enhance his ad revenue.”
Apparently he has hit on an even more effective hit multiplier - alternately removing and restoring his “Free Republic” link.
Free Republic is a link on Drudge.
It is not ridiculous. Not ridiculous in the least.
There is a civil war in the GOP. Been a long time coming, and it’s for all the marbles.
I’m personally starting to believe odds are better than 50% a new party will emerge from this treachery. A new party, with a whole lot in common with the tea party.
The establishment has declared the confrontation, after practicing it since McCain’s hideous charade pretending to be a candidate. Now it’s finally on.
Drudge made the hugh mistake, of choosing sides.
So be it.
Now Drudge is just another part of the problem.
I’m on my 4th day.
That is an HTML feature (nothing sneaky about it, 1 liner in a web page) that does not contribute to his IP address based hit count. When your computer/browser requests his web page (HTTP) it sends it's IP as a return address. That's how a web site knows approximately how many people are accessing it. Now maybe you have accessed it with you phone and your laptop in which case you maybe over counted. Or perhaps you logged off your ISP and then logged back in a got a assigned a new IP. But otherwise, it a pretty good approximation.
Perhaps you could point readers to the specific html tag in Drudge’s home site source, you’re describing?
Better yet, so we don’t have to actually go there, how about you just copy/paste that tag for us?
Thanks in advance.
Or are you just saying what you imagine to be?
To elaborate: How is it you know Drudge’s claimed hit count, is not based on page refreshes?
Not trying to ask you, for the html to refresh a page.
You said Drudge is not using the refresh to drive up hit counts.
Clearly it’s a way to increase ad revenue, but how is it you came to the conclusion Drudge’s website hit count is not based on refreshes?
That was just to show that there is still a link from Drudge.
Html anchor tags. Specifically links to conservative sites.
Thanks so much.
Oh PUHleeze....
<!-- var timer = setInterval("autoRefresh()", 1000 * 60 * 3); function autoRefresh(){self.location.reload(true);} //-->
The point of the refresher is to save you the trouble of refreshing the page (news is constantly changing).
BTW I'm not happy about Drudge shilling for Romney but I'm not surprised either. If Romney wins the nomination, I predict that the GOP will lose the presidency by the largest margin in history.
Groupthink is in...independent thought is out.
Zotting is a game...and some of these people seem to groupthink they have zotted Drudge! LOL!
A week from Monday I will have been here fourteen years...IF I don't get the zot before then...found a link on Drudge. I have never seen anything like what's gone on here the past few months.
Thanks.
I’ll make an effort not to be confrontational, sorry. I’m pretty worked up about what RINO’s are doing, and my default setting right now is to knee jerk.
Not sure however, how it is, the conclusion can be reached that the hit counter isn’t based on reloads.
I’m ready to believe, that is exactly what the hit counter is counting.
Of course I’m ticked at Drudge right now, and that might be affecting my conclusions.
:D
Dumb question though.
Isn’t that a comment tag?... or is it script set up such a way, so as not to cause problems in a browser which is not enabled for script?
I don't know about that. I think McRomney would do worse than McCain, but would still do better than McGovern in '72 and McMondale in '84.
Wow how everything is relative.
When the entire GOP is in groupthink, then FR is independent thought.
We are in a National Election year and the owner, along with the majority of posters, has endorsed Newt Gingrich for President. That means he wants Newt to win and ZERO and Romney to lose. Period.
We do not want Newt to be bashed on a website which is promoting him for President.
Romney & Zero bashing on Free Republic. If Newt isn’t the Nominee, we will CONTINUE to bash both Zero and Romney throughout the election cycle. This website is currently supporting Newt for President. If you don’t want Newt for President and in fact want to work against him being President, then you are probably posting on the wrong website.
