Rick Santorum to John Heilemann [and by extension to MSM at large] on today's Morning Joe: "it's your responsibility to defend the president, not mine." Ouch! If Newt's deft dicing of John King and Juan Williams paid huge electoral dividends, Santorum might anticipate a much-needed bump after running roughshod over the New York mag reporter.
Heilemann had called on Santorum to explain his failure to correct a woman at a town hall meeting in Florida yesterday who said President Obama was an "avowed Muslim" and legally unqualified to be president. After noting that he has repeatedly been on the record saying that he doesn't believe PBO is a Muslim and recognizes that he is legally qualified to be president, Santorum said that he chose not to chastise an elderly and infirm lady. Then came Santorum's grand slam, as set forth above. Heilemann only dug himself deeper when he responded by saying that prez candidate McCain had always defended Obama on the campaign trail.

lol...”Why can’t you be more like John McCain? He was SO easy to beat!”
The media gets more pathetic every day.
That, is a good one.
Santorum is a very likable guy and having seen him debate in the senate, I know he’s a lot tougher than he seems.
That was pathetic of Heileman....and childish. “Wah-wah! You should defend Obama!”
Every one is entitled to an opinion. Mine is that Santorum is the least likeable of the four candidates. But as another Freeper said, “I would vote for Charles Manson over Obama.”
That was funny. It got even better at the end.
That was hardly an attack and he was kinda wimpy on the President being Mooselip. How can anybody believe he isn’t and then calls the lady bizarre? Not exactly Newt.
Pray for America
Game ON!! Red meat. I love it! Let us really get in their faces this cycle. They will back down. They are libs. It is their nature They are chicken shi-ites. —AiT / 12 years on FR and 10s of thousands of informative posts provided.
Lesson from Newt: people want a candidate who will fight back, not some one with a s$@# eating grin who will take it.
No more McCains who will praise the enemy (re: Obama is an honoable man, you have nothing to fear).
They should just say that they don't believe Obama places any God before himself. Much closer to the truth.
I like what Santorum says about McQueeg there at the end...
Not strong enough.
Tell the media to do their job. Specifics.
We want to know about B0’s background.
British citizenship. Indonesian citizenship.
College records. Medical records.
Frank Marshall Davis. William Ayers. Rezko.
Good lord he tee’d it up for you.
So? Both things are true. What's the problem?
The problem is that no one can claim to know what some else believes if the person has not articulated it.
The press would use it to tear the candidate apart. Santorum’sresponse was as good as he good do, other than to say that it was Obama’s own actions that have caused voters to lose confidence in his words.
Wishful thinking from a wannabe
Santorum kinda rose to the top in the debates last night, but only because of the nasty infighting between Mitt and Newt.
Newt should not have allowed Mitt to control the debate to the extent he did in the first half hour.
However, Santorum was not attacked because he’s not considered a factor and his petulant, whiny side comes out when he’s attacked.
He would be my choice over Mitt and Ron Paul but ....
The most despicable moment from the 2008 campaign was when a town hall woman told McCain that Obama scared her, and the stupid assclown McCain told her shouldn’t be, and that Obama was a “good man”. Someone ask Chris Christie if that “embarrassed the party”. John McCain is a disgrace, and that should be mentioned by all Republicans at every opportunity.
IT IS A FACT THAT IN THE MUSLIM RELIGION IF YOUR FATHER IS MUSLIM - YOU ARE MUSLIM.
WE CANNOT CHANGE THEIR RELIGION TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS.
I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY WAY TO BECOME "UN-MUSLIM." PERHAPS A MUSLIM CLERIC COULD SHED SOME LIGHT ON THAT!
