Romney needs to be stopped because he is Mass liberal, but I think he would hold the south against Obama in a general. He would be weaker in the northern more liberal states. But his biggest problem is he does not have what it takes to win. No vision, no articulation, no intensity. Romney should drop out if he gets wacked badly in Fla.

I rather doubt it. He is the very antithesis of the South. Smug, arrogant, cold, stiff, unprincipled, condescending, gun controlling, statist, abotionist, teetotaller elitist whose whole family avoids military service. A fair number of southerners will go for some third party or independent as a protest vote, and a greater number will not bother to turn out to vote for this alien over the other alien.

If Romney is the cram down candidate for the GOP in 2012, look instead for the gradual unraveling of Nixon’s entire southern strategy, just as the Bush family eventually unraveled the Reagan coalition.

so called republicans up in that state for the most part and partly the north east are not republicans down here.
They are much more liberal on social issues, they do trust Govt much more and want Govt services much more

I’;m not talking all republicans from up there as there are a few holding out and would be welcomed down here but there are a hell of a lot of them which are liberals and not republicans even though they call themselves that
