It's 0930 EST and there's nothing in the sidebar that looks like a live thread for the SC primary . . .
I remember the initial report said Adelson was going to give $20 million to Newt, and then we heard he gave $5 million to Newt’s Super PAC. Maybe the rest was a carrot to finish the job in SC. Hopefully the next $15 million will be forthcoming.
Then I Apologize!! Big time!
I did go back and look and see that you did!
Welcome aboard!
Thanks so very much! I’m just learning the ropes and I basically don’t know what the hell I am doing. LOL! I am in no way computer savvy. But I love Free Republic and what ya’ll stand for. So please bear with me. LOL!
I think Clinton is beter at creating a connection with the audience. It’s like he’s talking directly to you.
When Newt went off on John King on Thursday he used one of Clinton’s moves and did the finger wag. Classic. I was waiting for him to say “I did not have an open marriage with that woman”.
I’m just thinking that if Newt beats Obama we will end up with Newt vs Hillary in 2016 and that might just end up as the final showdown for the future. Newt vs the Clintons for all the marbles.
I heard somewhere in the news someone claim that HALF of all Floridians had already voted through early voting. Is that possible? Anyone know what percentage of votes came through early voting in FL before?
One problem is Mitt has already been advertising, sending mailings and promoting early voting for a week or more, while no other candidates have been doing anything there. I suspect the significance of that was trumped up to add to the meme of Mitt’s “inevitability” but it could be a factor. OTOH, if Floridians watched last week’s debates, they may be shifting to Newt the same way SC did.
Even here at FR, conservative ideas and our ideals are constantly under attack by the leftist’s mentality and their subterfuge knows no bounds. It’s open warfare and it takes vigilance on behalf of all of us. I got yer’ back.
*LOLOLOL*!! I"m sitting here giggling myself into fits picturing that in my mind! WHAT a great post, and damn ... what a great neighbor! I like your tagline, too!
I don’t think the early voting will be that big of a deal. I expect Newt to be up big in the next polling out of FL.
Also, Jeb Bush sent a signal tonight by leaving Romney at the altar. Jeb knows FL as well as anyone. He also knows that it won’t be good for him to be seen as backing a loser. If he thought Romney was in good shape and could win I doubt he’d have given him the cold shoulder.
I think his plan is that he lays back, Newt wins, then loses to Obama. Come 2016 the GOP blames the tea party for botching the election and with the paryt desparate to prevent Hillary from replacing Obama, Jeb Bush rides to the rescue as the conservative who can appeal to the base and the establishment just like his brother did. And he won’t have the stain of having endorsed Romney...which has likely ended the future prospects of Christie.
Very cool. I hope that's not just a rumor. Now's the time to drop the money bomb from 'ell on the Gingrich campaign.
I know the small donations will be pouring in by the thousands tomorrow, but a few mega donors will really fatten up the old war chest.
Newt's gonna need it, to go up against what's about to hit him.
Great observation! Benjamin Netanyahu comes off as comfortable with himself and who he is. So does Newt Gingrich.
Color me skeptical. That sounds ridiculously high for an early voting percentage. Best keep listening for further news.
One problem is Mitt has already been advertising, sending mailings and promoting early voting for a week or more, while no other candidates have been doing anything there.
And those mailings may not have created the desired effect. Mitt just isn't liked by roughly 75% of the center-right voting public, and that number hasn't budged, no matter what he's done.
Also, like you said, a lot of Florida voters watched the debates, just like we did, and no doubt came away with the same conclusions that South Carolina voters did. Newt simply stomped the competition and the news media this past week. So much so, that he completely upended a planned campaign killing attack by a major news network. That was EPIC!
We'll see how it goes, but right now, it appears that Newt has gained an historic level of momentum going into the Florida primary. I don't want to speak to soon, but it already looks like an unstoppable juggernaut.
We can expect every long knife in the kitchen to be thrown at him, this coming week. Be prepared for it. It's inevitable, but defensible.
I think it’s a rumor. Huckabee was talking openly on air about whether or not he would endorse a candidate. There was absolutely no indication FOX was preventing him from doing so. He said it was his decision not to endorse one now and that he “probably” wouldn’t. He has his own FOX show, while Palin is strictly a contributor. They bring on tons of contributors constantly shilling for different candidates. That she cannot endorse is a bad rumor that’s gotten out of hand IMO.
As far as I'm concerned, your guy Perry was a vital part of the team effort that got Newt over the top. God bless Rick Perry for the gracious American patriot he is, and GODSPEED NEWT GINGRICH.
As I have yours fellow Freeper. Always sleeping with one eye open!
I wasn't a Perry supporter, but I agree completely with your statement.
I am very saddened to learn that he is pro-abort. I thought that he was a substantial conservative. It's actually quite psychotic, being a NRA board member and a Pro-Abortionist.
They will do what Romney always does. Sleazy attacks that Romney will pretend he had nothing to do with.
If there was EVER, EVER a political candidate of any party that resembled to a Tee the phony kiss-up apple-shiner Eddie Haskell of "Leave it to Beaver," it's Mitt Romney. In fact, Romney is an insult to Eddie Haskell -- at least Eddie had his moments of sincerity and self-reproach. Ultimately, Eddie Haskell ain't got nothin' on Mitt Romney.
“Heres just a little truth about Calista - I think it should be spread - file and use often.”
Thanks! Calista is all that and more.......
You must spend 30 hours per day on FAUX NEWS. I sort of sense that there has been an epiphany with Greta- she was once the most vocal of supporters of B.J. Clinton during his impeachment hearings/trial. I think she was with CNN then.
Since we’re getting ahead of ourselves on Newt’s VP selection possibilities, I imagine he’d look to a governor, as the person with executive experience.
I think Perry’d rather stay in TX. IMO the current governor with the best background would be Kasich. He was chairman of the Budget Committee, had a tv show, so he’s clearly articulate, and just happens to be governor of an EV-rich swing state. What’s not to like?
