This Saturday will be the most important primary vote of the year. Either conservatives and Tea Party members unite to stop Mitt Romney or we see a repeat of 2008, with a liberal Republican going up against Barack Obama.
The conservative movement is split between three candidates, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.
I am calling on conservatives and members of the Tea Party movement to unite behind Newt Gingrich in South Carolina so that we can stop Mitt Romney.
If we are going to see a conservative agenda advanced, we need a conservative candidate to do it and the only remaining candidate that can do it is Newt Gingrich.
I like Rick Perry. If Newt were not in the race, I would be behind Perry. But Perrys campaign is on its last legs. Nationally Perry is at only 7% and is less than that in South Carolina. After the primary vote on Saturday, Perrys campaign will more than likely end.
Rick Santorum is polling well but he has problems. Since he focused so intensely on Iowa, he does not have campaign infrastructure in many states. In fact, there are a number of states where he will not even appear on the ballot. In other states, like my home state of Tennessee, his name will appear but he has no delegates who have qualified for the ballot. What that means is that even if Santorum were to win Tennessee, he would get no delegates for the convention.
Santorum is not on Virginias ballot and according to the Chicago Sun-Times, he has been challenged in Illinois and will probably not be on that ballot. In Ohio, Illinois (even if he stays on the ballot), and DC, he does not have a full slate of delegates.
In short, Santorum, just due to campaign limitations, cannot stop Romney. All he can do by staying in the race at this point is to continue to divide the conservative vote.
I am asking every conservative and Tea Party member to unite now behind Newt Gingrich so that we can stop Mitt Romney and have a conservative nominee for President.
If you want to help, here is what you can do.
If you can go to South Carolina between now and Saturday to help the campaign, please do. Register with the campaign site here.
If you cannot go to South Carolina, you can still help by contacting anyone you know in South Carolina and asking them to go out and vote for Newt. Please forward this email to everyone on your email list and in your Tea Party or Liberty group.
You can also join the phone bank efforts to help get the vote out in South Carolina. You dont have to live in South Carolina to do this. You can live anywhere and help.
We must all join together and unite now or watch another liberal Republican get the nomination.
The Republican establishment wants to give us the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Barack Obama. They gave us John McCain in 2008 and we all know how well that one worked out.
There is only one conservative left with a chance to stop the liberal former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney and then defeat Barack Obama this fall.
Join me and let us all unite today behind Newt Gingrich for President
You’re only ensuring a Romney victory.
No matter how many states Santorum might win, he cannot become the nominee because he has no delegates in numerous key states.
Santorum was given a free pass in Iowa. Barely any media attacks and the other candidates did not smear him. It was a combo of Mitt and Paul’s super pacs and scorched earth ads that hurt Newt.
Newt is polling 3% behind Romney in SC...3%!!!!! a vote for Rick Santorum of Rick Perry is a vote for Romney.
PING!
BTTT.
Another home run response. I don’t get much time on Free Republic so it’s nice to see someone not harping on Newts few negatives.
Churchill of our time and that’s a fact.
At this point in time Newt is the only one who can put the brakes on Mitt. Folks in South Carolina need to vote for Newt as it will help keep the rest of the candidates in the race. Sarah Palin is right on target. GO NEWT GO!Good points! And I understand Perry is doing the responsible thing and dropping out.
SC voters: If you liked Rick or Rick, THINK ABOUT THIS before voting.... Each congressional district will have 2 delegates given to the winner-take-all within the district (that's 14 delegates total) And Statewide, there will be 11 delegates given to the winner-take-all at the state level So let's assume Romney is still barely in 1st place in the polls just before the vote. Let's assume there is only ONE close NON-Romney in 2nd place (Newt). Maybe YOU would prefer Rick or Rick.... But, IF YOU Vote for Rick or Rick, you have most likely helped award ALL delegates TO ROMNEY because it is WINNER TAKE ALL!!!! The ONLY way to NOT hand your SC delegates to ROMNEY is to consolidate all conservative votes behind the LEADING NON-ROMNEY Best in debate against Obama? |
Not long ago,I had settled on Rick Santorum. I have since changed my support to Newt. Why? Because he is the only one who can take it to the Zero come debate time. Being a Washington insider isn’t necessarily a bad thing,as many would have us believe. Sometimes to get to know the soul of the pig,you gotta roll around in the mire with them. And I could care less about his personal life. He’s running for POTUS, not sainthood.Don’t get me wrong,I don’t condone adultery, but being faithful to your wife is not a prerequisite to having leadership qualities. If he can get elected and assemble a powerful administration that can reverse much of the damage that’s been done to us as a country, that’s good enough for me. He’s got my vote.
and it's high time the GOP stopped running candidates against the will of the base - just because it's 'their turn'
the entire party, delegate and nomination process is designed to give the entrenched party hacks a grand advantage over the rank and file
look what Bohner and Co have done to the newbies elected by the Tea Party groups
.... and more importantly and pragmatically ... Jim Robinson has endorsed Newt today
.
Thank you....Couldn’t agree more!
I stand with/for Newt
