Suggestion to Gingrich, Santorum, Perry and respective supporters
RealClearPolitics Republican presidential primary polls | Jan 17, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/17/2012 3:32:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

RealClear Republican Presidential Polls as of January 17:

South Carolina, Monmouth University: Romney 33, Gingrich 22, Paul 12, Santorum 14, Perry 6

South Carolina, Rasmussen Reports: Romney 35, Gingrich 21, Paul 16, Santorum 16, Perry 5

Florida, PPP (D): Romney 41, Gingrich 26, Santorum 11, Paul 10, Perry 4

Florida, Sunshine State News/VSS: Romney 46, Gingrich 20, Santorum 12, Paul 9, Perry 3

Nationwide ABC News/Wash Post Romney 36, Gingrich 16, Santorum 13, Paul 16, Perry 9

Nationwide Gallup Tracking: Romney 34, Gingrich 15, Santorum 15, Paul 12, Perry 6

Like it or not, the trend has been clear for weeks. If we wish a conservative to be our nominee, Perry should drop out of the race and we should coalesce around Gingrich or Santorum. As long as all three or even two of the three remain in the race the conservative vote will be split and RINO Romney will get the nomination.

Gingrich should challenge Santorum to a series of Lincoln-Douglas style one-on-one debates and if there is a clear winner, then the loser should drop out, or in the very least, we may be able to better decide which one is better suited to take on Romney and Obama.

May our very best conservative take on and defeat Romney/Paul and then wipe out Obama!!

It would be amazingly effective if Santorum and Perry held a joint press conference to endorse Newt.

Basically say, “We have our differences with Newt, but RINO Romney has to be stopped.”

And then Rubio for VP.

If there is a clear winner....hahahahaha. Newt would mop the floor.

Good idea, I like it.....can you get this to Newt somehow?

Santorum should probably throw his support to Gingrich (and I say this having contributed to Santorum’s campaign, not Gingrich’s), but only if Gingrich announces Santorum as his VP at the same time.

That would instantly unify the conservative vote, and put Gingrich over Romney.

(Obviously, Perry needs to bow out.)

Then let Romney and Paul split the rest of the vote.

Been saying the same for weeks now.

Surely Perry knows it is time to step out TODAY, and either Rick S or Newt drops out and we can get behind one man instead of splitting the vote.

Agree. But Ron Paul is a bigger problem in this primary than Gov. Perry.

The news organizations will give us Romney. He will lose against Obama. Another 4 years of Obama seems too much to bear. As a lame duck, watch what he does. He will give the Democrats the rest of their dream. Just watch.

I’m hitching my wagon to Newt.. I feel he’s the only one that can stop the democrat machine (both Zero and Romney)

Perry does need to call it quits. Santorum had his 15 minutes an fizzled. This race will have to get down to Romney and 1 Not Romney or we are screwed.

One of the better suggestions I have seen lately. I hope the Ricks are listening.

Rubio would be a good VP pick, but so too would be Jindal or Ryan. I could get enthused about any of the three of them.

The only one who can hit the road running is Gingrich. For better or for worse he knows Washington inside and out. If any of these guys can work the system and actually change this country’s big government direction it is Gingrich. Santorum just doesn’t have the hard leadership experience to draw from to take on Washington and actually get something done.

Just my opinion...

Since Perry’s numbers are so dismal, why is everyone begging him to drop. If he’s really been rendered inconsequential (and a lot of people have done their damnest to accomplish that) why doesn’t everyone leave him alone?

Besides, I think a lot of Perry supporters would bow out, not run to another candidate. We voters get tired of getting jerked around.

Jim, I agree that Perry is performing badly. But the polls toward Santorum will be changing in the next few hours as the slime from Great Britain makes its way into the MSM regarding Mrs. Santorum.

As a result, we can not afford to write Gov. Perry off.

With numbers like that is it possible that Perry is in the tank for Mitt and is staying in to make sure Newt doesn’t get the lead?

“Since Perry’s numbers are so dismal, why is everyone begging him to drop.”

His 10% is all that seperates Newt and the digusting turd Myth.

The voters will decide. There isn’t anything that I can personally do until March 6th, and then I have a choice between only Romney and Paul.

At some point before SC primary I think an official FR endorsement could help things along.

Romney must be stopped, and we're down to days left to do it.

A Gingrich/Santorum ticket with Perry publicly promised a cabinet position would destroy Romney and Obama.

The answer here is begging to be stated...

Gingrich-Santorum 2012

Newt is the pro that is needed to unravel the rat-knot of Obammyness the communists have created.

Two terms of elections follow in which the idiot GOP can be returned to conservatism.

Santorum picks up the reins in 2020.

I’m afraid that Santorum is on Romney’s payroll. Mittens has already paid off one fellow’s campaign debt in exchange for an endorsement.

Rick Santorum is the Huckabee of the 2012 campaign.

Santorum and Paul is what’s keeping Newt from victory. And maybe Newt is keeping himself from victory. He gets on something and won’t let up. First it was Bain now it’s all this strategy talk.

I love Newt but I get tired of this kind of thing very quickly. Reagan would never go that route, he talked issues and our future. Newt needs to keep his head in the game.
