I was a Newt fan from the start and watched Santorum and Perry hoping they wouldn’t implode “Perry”. None of them did and Perry actually moved up inmo. GO NEWT!!!!

Re Newt, I don’t know anyone anyone who’s had such a command of facts except...William F. Buckley.

Rita asked if that was Lindsay Graham sitting behind Baier. Yes, he was there and so was Jim DeMint. They introduced both of them.

I am watching again. I need to get to bed, but *dang* I want to see Newt with Juan again.

That, as my kids would say, was EPIC! :^D

This is true. Newt has taken on the moderate establishment and liberalism and won big. When he speaks, his words carry weight. The liberals used the term ‘gravitas’ in 2000 to describe what they said was W’s lack of weight of accomplishment or intellect. They conveniently purged that term Soviet-style in 2008 when a certain Messianic figure arrived on the scene and the liberals found that term inconvenient when extolling the virtues of the Messiah figure.

But it really does describe the problem Santorum and frankly Romney has when compared to Newt. This really comes through when you see them in these debate settings. This new thing Santorum has with calling Newt ‘congressman’ instead of ‘Speaker’ Gingrich is petty and does nothing to raise Santorum’s relative position. Even if Newt doesn’t survive this primary, Santorum cannot fight off Romney, much less Obama. He just doesn’t have ‘gravitas’.

I take it our Newt did well tonight?...of course...he always does well when he’s on top of his game.

I think Perry and Newt like each other and pretty much are on the same track. They almost seem like a team, given no insults and arguments have passed between them. They will be fine in Florida.

Romney is more and more appearing like a man who is worried that things are spinning out of his control. At least he sure did tonight.

The more you learn about all candidates the more you won’t like. We have to get the one with the best voting record and the best plans for running the country. I don’t think we can have a believer in climate change or someone who supports a path to legal status for illegal aliens as a presidential candidate.

Apparently the Fox analysts Luntz and Morris agree. Morris even said he thinks Newt might win Saturday! So it’s not just us trying to cheer each other up. Newt had a great night!

Newt or Rick have to put the Country in front of their own selves and one has to step down to help defeat Mitt. At this point it should be Rick since he was soundly beaten in this debate and certainly if he doesn’t win the next one.

Pray for America

I hardly ever agree with Dick Morris about anything, but he just might have this one right. Perry was outstanding compared to Rick Santorum tonight. Santorum is beginning to sound like a self-professed saint you just want to smack silly. He isn’t even keeled. I know he can be feisty but it isn’t coming through. He sounds more like a preacher and that isn’t what I want.

Well, I never take ANYTHING Morris has to say to the bank, but I think he could be right on this one. From his lips to God’s ears my friend!
